Pros:

oil reduction
smaller pores
acne reduction

Cons:

lots of pills, you get over it even if everyone else doesn't
short break out when it kicks in
may have to switch brands.

I only recommend this for people who have genetically oily skin types. If your skin is already dry, adding this vitamin cannot be a good idea for your skin or your hair. It doesn't always kick in within a few days as some reports state. It took a few weeks to see a substantial oil reduction by about 50-60% and I suspect it will continue to decrease from here. There is a breakout which disturbed me since I don't actually breakout just insanely oily. The only thing that got me through was knowing the breakout was because of the vitamin shutting oil production down and thus freaking out the bacteria in my face. I started with GNC first but only saw a change after using Puritan's pride which happily costs less per bottle anyway.

Pros:

less oily skin
smaller pimples
no cystic acne.

Cons:

5 pills a day.
Diarrhea first few days
lower libido

I've had acne since high school. Was never that bad until I came to college tho. Maybe bad diet coupled with more stress made acne worse? Yea probably,. Anyway, I started taking two 500 mg pills every 12 hours. So 2 at 9am and 2 at 9 pm. And with my biggest meal (usually lunch), I take a b-complex pill. I bought the b5 from vitamin world and the b-complex from gnc. I think if you have relatively oily skin and you feel that your cystic acne is resulting from that, then you should definitely give this product a try. For me, it took about 2 days to see a decrease in oiliness. And now, on day 5, my face looks about 90% better. Also important: There was 1 day breakout for me. They weren't of the cystic kind but they were still pretty red. Megadose at your own risk. and drink plenty of water regardless. Good luck!

Pros:

I've tried everything from prescription meds & topicals to OTC topicals. Nothing worked! B5 cleared my skin completely as in no more pimples after 1 month. Mild breakout at first but be patient.

Cons:

lots of pills to pop and sooo much water

Be patient and stick with it! I have the most complicated skin and its the only thing that has worked for me over the past 16 years of my life. You must continue b/c I didn't and the acne gradually came back... Keep it in your regimen like a vitamin b/c research shows that acne sufferers lack this vitamin.

Pros:

Skin feels smoother and is less oily, fewer breakouts, doesn't upset my stomach.

Cons:

None.

I bought the GNC brand of pantothenic acid about a month ago because I read on this site that it can help reduce skin oiliness. I have been taking two 500 mg pills twice daily. I have incredibly oily skin, and within about two weeks I noticed that my skin looked and felt less oily. I also have mild acne, and the B5 cleared up my skin almost 100%; I can now actually get away with not wearing makeup! My skin also looks and feels much smoother. Although I still have oilier skin than most people, I really think the B5 helped, and it's definitely worth trying if you have acne. I also have a sensitive stomach and the B5 didn't upset it at all. I also like that I can get a bottle of 100 pills for around eight dollars. I didn't notice any weight loss, unfortunately.

Pros:

Doesn't upset my sensitive stomach.
Drastically reduces oil.
Seemed to be what finally got rid of cystic acne I was getting. Overall skin condition improved greatly with no side effects.

Cons:

Lots of pills to take. I'm taking Vitamin Shoppe's Pantothenic Acid 500mg capsules x 20 per day. I usually take 4-5 at a time 4-5x a day. I just keep the bottle at my desk so I remember to take them. Tried tablets and couldn't choke them down.

It works. It's not a magic cure but it surely helped me where the dermatologist couldn't.

Pros:

No prescription needed
Inexpensive
Non-toxic
Has other benefits for your health

Cons:

Requires high doses which may not be safe to take long term
A bit of stomach upset in the first two weeks

It took 3 months, but 3000 mg of B5 per day reduced my acne by 80%. I still get a few pimples around my period, but it's like night and day from before. This worked better for me than Accutane (though it may not be a fair comparison because I couldn't tolerate Accutane for more than 2 months). I have tried almost everything regardless of cost or risks, and I'm so grateful to have found something safe and inexpensive that works so well for me. It may not work as well for you, but it's so worth a shot. $20 for a 3 month supply of TwinLab B5 on Amazon which is perfect for a trial run.

Pros:

Clears Skin, IT WORKS!

Cons:

nothing

This works really well. Ive only suffered from mild cystic acne and felt like I was ruining my skin by using a ton of product on it. B5 clears skin from the inside and now I only wash my face with a mild soap and use moisturizer. My skin is FLAWLESS. love it, and recomend it to everyone i know!

Pros:

Balances skin oil, acne clears

Cons:

A lot of pills to swallow at first

I have been on B5 for 2.5 years. I spoke to my doctor about it recently and he says B5 is SAFE! My GI doctor says that herbs can cause gastrointestinal problems... so make sure you know all of the ingredients in the pills you are taking! In the last two years I have stopped B5 use twice... both times my skin was oily and broken out horribly... so I keep going back...last time I was down to 3 500 mg. a day and maintaining clear skin.

Pros:

I started taking this product about 9 Months ago, and I have not had a single pimple on my skin in months. My skin cleared up the first month, after taking 20 pills a day.

Cons:

The product is great, but the marks from previous breakouts can take months to clear.

If you have acne and want pure clear skin, this is the product for you. I get my Pantothenic Acid from GNC. You should also wash your face with a good benzoyl peroxide the first couple of months. Good luck to everyone, and just be patient with it!
