I started using AcneMiracle's B5 powder in 2003 and the stuff COMPLETELY cleared up my skin in like 2 weeks. I had moderate acne, small bumps all over my face for years before that. I tried everything: Proactiv, antibiotics, creams, etc. nothing worked as well as the B5. however, i recently ran out of my AcneMiracle B5 and their product has been discontinued (not sure what happened with their website?) so I just switched to VitaCure's B5. I'm on week 2 and I hope this is just the breaking out phase, but I am at my worst right now. I hope this stuff works again ...

Pros:

It works better than anything else I have tried

Cons:

It may lose its effectiveness after using it for a while. Maybe it's just my system begin to metabolize it faster?

It was great!!! I used it for about 8 months and things were getting better, but all the sudden outta blue, I get lots of breakouts. I am not sure what goes wrong. I started with 8g break it into 4 times a day and within 6 months I got it reduced to 6 g since my acnes were getting better. Now I am back on 8 g, if things dont get any better I will prob crank it up to 10g. This is frustrating. I thought things were going in right direction and my face was going to be completely clean by the summer time. Darn!!! Did anyone else experience the same problem of B5 losing its effectiveness? I also take other supplments - B complex, FishOil, Multi Vitamin, and Zinc. Btw, what's wrong with all these dermatologies out there? Arent they supposed to get this figured out? What's all the schooling for?

Pros:

Smaller pores
alternative to accutane

Cons:

take too long to see results if any, i think only 80 or 90% people will see results--definitly my skin is imporving along with DK regiment

ive been taking b5 for 68 days, 2 months about. 20 pills a day at 510mg each pill, i see a huge reduction in oil on my face. I read some poeple see results in 90+ days, i still am getting breakout on my face, but not as bad, my pores are definitly smaller. At the end of each night ,i wipe my forhead and i would see a nice shine on my hands, but now i definitly can see that i have less oil when i wipe my forehead. I do not feel any side effects, only that my metobolismis faster with the b5, so i eat a little more now. Will update in another month, good to keep track on how much pills you intake also. 40$ and 400capsules, <--- can find it cheaper at GNC (works better if you take 1 multivitiman pill, "one a day" or whatever)

Pros:

Stops oily skin. Have had oily skin most of my life till I tryed b5. Stoped it over nite.

Cons:

B5 and Zorcor dont mix. The b vitamins are VERY dangerous with products like Zocor. I found out the hard way.

I have high colesteral and been on Zocor for years, after starting the b5 1000mg a day treatment for a month I was very pleased with the results then one day I woke up and could not walk !! My leg joints were so inflamed that I was hospitalized for 5 days . Not till I told them I was taking the B5 did they find the cause. The B5 makes the Zorcor 10 times more powerful then without it. Luck for me it was a simple fix. But they told me long term affects of using both would over tax my liver as well. My colesteral level went form 230 before taking the B5 to 90 in 30 days. B5 and colesteral lowering meds dont mix.. Take it from me !! I stoped the B5 and my joint inflamation went away in a week. I was told that B5 makes the side effects of this durg and others 5 times worse. Good for one thing --Bad for another.

I just started using vitamin B5 three days ago after reading so many positive reviews. Some of them sound so good (although I was suspicious that they might be written by vitamin sellers). I hope not. I have mild acne. My skin is oily around the T-zone. I decided to take 5g a day for the first three days. On the second day in the morning, I noticed a lot of small red pimples on my forehead (about 20). But, as everyone probably read before, it is probably caused by your skin pushing out the already forming ones. I hope that is what it is. Today is the third day, and I have a little bit more of pimples than I had the previous day. I hope this means this vitamin is working. I will come back and leave another review in about a week and tell you guys what happened. (Just look for reviews by Kate from CA, US)

Pros:

cleared skin the first few days
easy to get

Cons:

dry skin
cause a TERRIBLE breakout about 3 weeks later
stomach issues
bad gas
minor hair loss

I am a 21 year old male and I saw the reviews on b5 so I gave it a shot. At first I was shocked at how quick i was clearing my skin. about 2 weeks later I started to break out very bad. Thought it was just the "initial breakout" but after a month my face was full of cysts even in places I have never broken out in. In addition, it gave me terrible gas, and I could not sleep for more than 2 hours every night. Megadosing is not the solution. I had less side effects on accutane. Time to go back...

Please do not take this vitamin. I made the mistake of taking 2-3 grams for about 6 weeks and stopped when my hair started falling out. This was about 15 months ago now and my hair keeps getting worse I have lost about 75% of my hair.

Pros:

No prescription needed
Inexpensive
Non-toxic
Has other benefits for your health

Cons:

Requires high doses which may not be safe to take long term
A bit of stomach upset in the first two weeks

It took 3 months, but 3000 mg of B5 per day reduced my acne by 80%. I still get a few pimples around my period, but it's like night and day from before. This worked better for me than Accutane (though it may not be a fair comparison because I couldn't tolerate Accutane for more than 2 months). I have tried almost everything regardless of cost or risks, and I'm so grateful to have found something safe and inexpensive that works so well for me. It may not work as well for you, but it's so worth a shot. $20 for a 3 month supply of TwinLab B5 on Amazon which is perfect for a trial run.
