Pros:

Worked very well on my skin

Cons:

I had a serum reaction and had to go to the hospital for a night. Awful symptoms including high fever, a lot of vomiting, and a rash.

It's probably a great drug if you know for sure that you can handle sulfa drugs. Otherwise the reaction can be pretty intense and scary.

Pros:

Seemed to work

Cons:

VERY ALLERGIC

I wish I had a chance to try this for a longer period of time. After only a week I got very sick, red all over, and had joint pain that is beyond description. It turned out I am allergic, but it seems to have helped many.

Pros:

Began seeing results in just a few days; suppressed appetite (lost weight!)

Cons:

I'm allergic :(

I was really excited to try this drug because from what I read it seemed like it's very effective when it comes to clearing up skin. For years I've tried every topical prescription available plus every other antibiotic. This was the last drug my derm was going to prescribe before moving onto Accutane if necessary. I started seeing results after just a few days of taking Bactrim, however unfortunately I developed an allergic reaction after a couple weeks: rash, extreme muscle/joint pain, trouble breathing, etc. While this drug is totally not agreeable with me, I'd still recommend it to others despite the harm it can cause to your body. Just be alert ' if you start developing any signs of an allergy, stop before it gets worse! It can do some scary stuff.

Pros:

clears some spots, minimizes red ness as they are anti-inflammitory.

Cons:

didnt work aswell as i thought, first week of using it i broke out with two massive spots on my chin. However i think it might have somethng to do with the fact i developed a tolerance for doxycyline as i used it for 9 months.

if you are going to use trimethoprim make sure that you wernt on your last drug for more than 3-5 months, jst so that your body doesnt creare too much of a tolerance and give the trimethoprim a fighting chance.

Pros:

Got rid of my larger break outs but i still have little bumps. It took about 2-3 weeks for it to start showing results.

Cons:

If i forget a pill, i notice the next day. I don't know when i'll ever be able to come off it! lol

It's a good acne medication, but i think they're is better out there. Maybe it's just my skin type though. Good luck to everyone else using it though! Acne blows! lol

Pros:

Cons:

no sign of improvement, in fact its worsened..

ive been taking this medication for about a week now and after reading all the reviews i was really excited to finally see my cystic acne go away . over the past week ive broken out more then ever and just hope its somewhat like accutane where it worsens at first but all the reviews are described at immediate results. if anyone knows whether it will get better or im just wasting my time and making my acne worse please let me know..

Pros:

Seemed to start helping in the first couple weeks.

Cons:

Allergic reaction, broke out even worse when I had to stop taking it.

After about a week and a half, this made me break out in hives over my entire body and it gave me a fever. After two days of not taking it, the hives started to go away. And now that I'm off of it, I'm breaking out worse than before. I've also heard that it can cause life-threatening allergic reactions, so pay attention to side effects!

Pros:

The medicine is inexpensive and has low side effects. The other anti-biotics I have taken cause pretty severe sensitivity to the sun, but I did not expereince this with Bactrim.

Cons:

I have mild-severe scalp acne. The bactrim does not completely stop break outs, but it does prevent the larger postules from forming.

There are more powerful anitbiotics available, but they have stronger side effects. Bactrim will probably cure your mild acne problems, but it doesn't perform as well for severe cases.
