Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Clears up blemishes & removes redness FAST!!!
also i like the smell (but most ppl dont)

Cons:

Seems to form whiteheads...but i think it just cleaning out the bacteria.

I just recently purchased some tea tree oil from "The BodyShop" the facial cleanser, day time mositurizer, night lotion, and their face mask, it works wonders, mind you i only been on this regimen for 2-3 days... but i can already see a difference and thats alot coming from me as i did everything from proactive to laser surgery, nothing really helped me dramatically as tea tree oil has.. I have sensitive/oily skin and i am very acne prone. I have moderate/ to i guess mild acne.. but just try it!! it works inever used the 100 percent one.. but the bodyshop is 15 percent and it works just as good i think

Pros:

Hmm...seems to actually work! As a spot treatment does not seem to be as irritating on the skin as other topical treatments. Inexpensive . Backed by clinical studies.

Cons:

Strong smell.

As a mild/moderate acne sufferer for many years, mainly around the chin/jaw area, I've continuously been on the search for a treatment that would be both effective AND tolerable for my sensitive skin. I think I may have found it. Subjectively, I've noticed it seems to be very effective undiluted as spot treatment on new acne lesions that are just beginning to form, reducing its size and redness significantly within 24 hours of its application. I have not tried it on unaffected parts of my face for prevention purposes yet. As a physician, I was curious to see if there were any clinical studies done to prove the effectiveness of tea tree oil. As it turns out, studies using only 5% tea tree oil has been shown to be as effective as 5% BP on reducing mild to moderate acne but with less irritation.

Very good, not miraculous.
It's very good, not miraculous, but works well on my mild/moderate acne. (Better than benzoyl peroxide, that's saying something). I apply it directly on my skin, but do a patch test, better to be safe than sorry.

Amazing!!
I use tea trea oil on my whiteheads and it works wonders. It gets rid of all of my whiteheads in a couple hours I absolutely love it. But it doesn't do anything for regular pimples and my hyper pigmentation but I would recommend it for whiteheads

Pros:

I used this product for cold sores for a very long time. At the first hint of one appearing, that little tingly feeling, I'd just dab on the TTO every couple of hours and it would go away. I haven't had an actual cold sore for years.

I'm just trying it for acne now. But since I've had great results for cold sores I'm thinking it should work.

Cons:

- It's smell can be overpowering.

- The slight sting (for some people)

If it doesn't work for your acne you can use it for other things (like cold sores, for example) so your money isn't wasted.

Pros:

Healthy for skin. Prevents acne similar to BP.
When used in conjunction with other products can be very effective.

Cons:

Not great as spot treatment.

I mix lots of this with Spectro's moisturizer for blemish prone skin (great moisturizer which contains salicylic acid) and it works for me just as well, if not better than BP. Benzyl peroxide can be very damaging to skin long term. It produces radicals which, much like harmful sun rays, can cause premature aging. Check out my review on Spectro's cleanser as that also contributes to my clear skin.

Pros:

Good smell (IMO), reduces acne without much drying of the skin, reduces redness also.

Cons:

Expensive (one bottle costs 12€ :S )

Apply three of four drops to a cotton bud and rub onto whole face. Will reduce redness, swelling and blistering. Do twice a day, once after getting up, another before sleep.

Pros:

Clears face
No chemicals
Multiple Uses

Cons:

Stong Smell
May burn sensitive skin (be sure to dilute)

Tea Tree Oil is absolutely amazing. I use the hemp/tea tree oil soap for a good all over scrub and then apply diluted pure tea tree oil to my face with a cotton ball. I find that the best way to prevent and clear acne is to watch my diet, avoid sodas and too much sugar. Exercise. If Im going to wear make up it has to be the pure, natural stuff.. And wash face morning and night.. then apply tea tree oil. When I ate raw foods for a week straight my face completely cleared... (I believe diet is key)

Pros:

It reduces redness, and helps with oil

Cons:

The smell is really stong [I could learn to love it though]

I used it nate [undiluted] I wiped it all over face, let dry then put on oil free moisturizer mixed with 3drops of lavender oil. It has been working pretty awesome. My skin wasn't really bad, but enough to make me insecure. Be prepared to exfoliate every other day for the first week or so [I just use half brown sugar and half white]. Do this so the dry skin you are sure to have won't end up clogging pores, giving you more acne. Use it, it can't hurt to try... if you have dryish skin, do the tea tree oil solution 3:10. Otherwise, your skin will probably start to peel. I'm going to post another review after 3 weeks, then after 6, after 8, after 6months. :) Hopefully with good news!

Pros:

It works well on adult acne! I dont breakout with cyst acne as much as i used to.

Cons:

The smell can be a bit overwhelming but you will get use to it after awhile. I still get blackheads and occasional breakouts.

The best acne solution I encountered thus far. Tea Tree oil is a great natural method to clear up your skin without the damaging effects of chemicals. Apply 100% tea tree oil on acne spots, not your whole face. If you want a moisturizer with tea tree oil as one of the ingredients, I recommend Derma E (online only) problem solution 3. It works great on my skin and all the ingredients are natural. You can also try the Body Shop, they have a whole line of tea tree products.
