Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

immediately starts to reduce the size of whiteheads and cysts

Cons:

can cause redding of surrounding area

I dip a wet q-tip into a bottle of PURE tea tree oil and apply it to my cysts or whiteheads for up to a minute, holding it on top of them until I feel a slight burn. Within a minute they are half their size! It is amazing. I've had sever acne around my mouth and chin for the past 4 years (I'm 24) and nothing has had the effect tea tree oil has. I have extremely sensitive skin, I've had awful allergic reactions to different products before (I stay far far far away from anything with Salicylic acid acid in it). Tea tree oil causes some redness and drying, so just make sure to dilute-- don't put it on your face full strength. It also doesn't seem to prevent future breakout so I combine with 'the regime.' You can find bottles of pure tea tree oil at Trader Joe's or Whole Foods.

Pros:

If your skin is not allergic(which is very rare for it to be) it starts to work within a week!

Cons:

Just the smell is strong but its soothing as well.

Im the type of person that if i dont see results at least a little i give up, i know they say you have to wait a while, but when your skin is so irritated, you want to see immediate change even if its a little. A good sign is to at least see no NEW breakouts. I basically agree with many to heavily dilute it. Half cup water with a few drops. I dip my hands and massage it in my skin to get the circulation going. Feels soo soothing!!! Much better to start w less since you should be using 100% natural tea tree oil. Im really excited! ive tried sooo much and its been abouT A WEEK AND AMAZING RESULTS!TRY IT!! This site was what helped me discover it. Tell people to try it seriously worth trying something so natural and proven to not have side effects! (of course your one of the rare people that are allergic) I WISH EVERYONE THE BEST I KNOW HOW DEPRESSING ACNE CAN BE!! STAY POSITIVE! AND minimum of 8 glasses of water is a MUST!!!!!!!!

Pros:

It dries up the pimples that already exist.

Cons:

Makes my skin a bit dry, but nothing a bit of moisturiser can't fix.

It's great to 'repair' the pimples but I don't think it does anything to prevent outbreaks.

there is no FULL proff cure all product for acne, but if there was, tea tree oil would be one of the MAIN ingredients. go into the message boards, read about it, find a way to use it that would suit you. u wont be sorry :)

Pros:

I think it was this that worked miracles to end 15 years of moderate (mid-menstrual cycle) acne. And it's natural!

Cons:

I wouldn't recommend using it full strength. The smell is strong, but I don't mind.

I started Dan's regimen a couple of months ago, but instead of BENZOYL PEROXIDE substituted TEA TREE OIL. I used the already diluted Desert Essence "Kinder to Skin". (I chose Cetaphil liquid cleanser and Oil of Olay moisturizer.) I also started taking vitamins at the same time (multi + 50mg of B6 and Zinc). It took almost 2 months of SLOW but steady improvement. Now my skin is really clearing up. I honestly can hardly believe this day has come.

Pros:

Works on zits

Cons:

Can make your face ichy and red

Tea Tree oil works, but for some people it might not work, i used it for a few week or so, then it stoped working for me. But when it did work it left face feeling great!!! And it really helps if your face is hurting. Give it a shot it might just work for you!!!

Pros:

keeps skin feeling refreshed and does not overdry if diluted in water first.
anti-bacterial and helps reduce redness.

Cons:

the smell can be a bit overwhelming
can overdry if you are apply the oil directly to your face, which should not be done!

After washing my face with a mild moisturizing bar, I apply my special toner: I dilute 2 drops of tea tree oil in 1/2 cup of cold water. I soak a cotton ball with the mixture before the oil can settle on the top. I apply the mixture by dabbing onto my skin and then I wait for it to dry. Then I use Aveeno Clear Complexion daily moisturizer or the Aveeno Positively Radiant (SPF 30) if I am going outside. It should last a long time, if only using a drop or two in the morning - so the price is not bad. Leaves face feeling fresh throughout the day. Not oily at all.

Cons:

can sting if near eyes

i like this product for acne! i use proactiv solution and then a few minutes later apply jergens natural glow, let it dry then i apply tea tree oil on any pimples and they go away or shrink fairly quickly. i love it and the fact that it's a natural remedy makes me trust it more on my skin
