Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

works without making brown spots after pimple darker

Cons:

stinks

I mix this with noxzema in my hand in the shower. I also use 30% glycolic peel every 1-2 weeks for about 5-10 min (my skin is not sensitive at all) Green tea also works. I drink it and either apply the bag to my skin or break open a green tea tablet, mix it with water and rub that on overnight (this worked best!) I've been doing this for about a week almost all my redness and inflamation is gone and no new bumps have popped out :-). I think the peel has a lot to do with it though. I used it a few months ago and my skin cleared up then I ran out and bought some TCA which obviously didn't work. I read Glycolic is one of the only ones that can get in your pores. Wish I knew that b4! If it aint broke dont fix it...

Pros:

gets rid of acne, any kind

Cons:

leaves face very dry

i have been using tea tree oil soap for about 5 days, but within the first day that i started with this a big difference can be seen, and everyday it gets better. i got the soap at vitamin world 3 for $6.00, but this is not the only thing that i use...here is my morning and night process: morning: -wash face with tea tree oil -apply benzaclin where i have acne which is on my jaw line and a bit of eucerin moist. night: -wash face with tea tree oil -apply mask of baking soda that i do with water only and apply it where i have acne and once in a while to whole face it works for redness -use benzaclin on problem area... this steps have helped me alot with my acne. i have used many products, but got this from reading reviews from this web site and i'm happy very happy with my results... thanks to all who share their regimens... really try using the tea tree oil soap, i read that the oil is good also but i wanted to change cleanser.. will keep you posted

Pros:

Tea Tree Oil is a natural antibacterial. The Body Shop has an amazing TTO based line.

Cons:

Overuse can cause dryness. May break out worse at first, but give it a few weeks.

This is an awesome natural replacement for harsher acne treatments. It was actually used in World War II as a wound antibacterial for soliders.

Cons:

smell, if you can get past the smell...
it is not suitable for dry skin types.

awesome if you have oily skin use this it will help your over-all complexion. And one small bottle can last a long time.

Pros:

Good as an antiseptic

Cons:

No effect on acne or individual spots

I tried the 100% tea tree oil twice daily on my chin and jawline for a couple of months with the hope it would improve my acne. I had no reduction in acne size or occurance and it had no effect on existing spots either

Pros:

It worked fairly well. Better than anything I have tried before.

Cons:

Kind of pricey. (12.99 for a small bottle)It smells strong and makes my eyes water and burn. I have to put it on at night. It burns your face when you use it full strength which of course I did/still do.

I have had acne for 9-10 years now and I did notice a difference. It did not clear it completely and it has to be used pretty much regularly to help. I don't know how good that is for your face to use continuously. Like I said, kind of pricey. It did work descent for me and I will continue to be faithful to using it for a good while to see if it stands the long test! It is worth a try and what do you have to lose?!

Pros:

It makes skin less oily (and i definitely have the oiliest skin you've ever seen), clears blemishes very quickly, all natural, and not TOO expensive.

Cons:

NONE.

Tea tree oil is definitely my miracle in a bottle. I've tried everything: -salicylic acid, benzoyl peroxide, sulfur, proactiv system, exposed acne system, differin, retin-A, expensive scrubs, face masks, vitamins, oral antibiotics, topical antibiotics, murad acne system, and accutane (which is one of the worst medications to be on) with no permanent, steadfast success. Until recently, i ordered tea tree oil from the body shop and purchased their tea tree oil system. I use the facial wash, toner, tea tree oil (15% diluted), and moisture gel and it is THE BEST product i've ever used. My face is not shiny anymore, the products are gentle, it only takes me twenty minutes or less to get ready in the mornings now, and most of all, IT WORKS. The thing about acne is that everyone has different skin, and some products don't work for other people. The thin is though, some do. I definitely recommend TTO.

Pros:

Left skin feeling softer, decreased the size of huge pimples. It's cheap.

Cons:

Didn't help clear acne, didn't stop new zits from popping up at all.

I guess it works amazing for some people. It wasn't that great for me, but whatever. I would try and find something else.

Pros:

cheap, easy to find

Cons:

harsh and smells bloody awful

I've actually switched from TTO to manuka oil (look it up), doesn't dry as much and has hardly any foul smell. I added the manuka oil to my jojoba oil too so I'm sure that matters. I do however use dr bonners tto soap to wash with 2x a day. It's not perfect yet but it is improving after about a week.
