Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

100% Natural; Dries Up Pimples; Decreases Pain in Zits after first treatment; somewhat strong but even on my sensitive skin i find it very useful undiluted; i personally love the smell

Cons:

Burns slightly upon 1st application (like when you use a toner, such as the ProActiv toner), it's not painful necisarrily, just tingly. may dry out non-oily or sensitive skin. creates temporary white heads that go away with continued use.

I find this product was very useful for me. I have sensitive but oily skin, but I used it undiluted. Maybe because my skin is naturally oily it didnt dry it out. Within an hour of first application my face was 10% better than it was. Scars weren't as noticeable, and the small pimples mostly went away. It made my skin very, very soft, and worked well as a toner, giving my skin a very nice "glow" or "brightness".. it looked healthy again. I believe if I continue to use this product my acne will be mostly gone within a week. I will try it out because I am confident that this could work. I have been battling acne for 6 years, and I believe this could work.

Pros:

dries up zits, and easy to use.

Cons:

dry skin! I don't like the smell very much, it is quite pungent.

I used it for a while and it controlled some of my acne but I was NEVER completely clear.

Pros:

None (for me).

Cons:

Just didn't work for me...

I put the TTO on my face in the morning before moisturizing and at night in replace of my BP. I also rubbed it on my shoulders at night in hopes that it would help the scars on my shoulders (I have many allergies and when I have an allergic reaction I break out with hives/gross pimple-like things on my shoulders). Today (one week later) my skin on my face is peeling and is much worse (I broke out in very tiny little bumps on my chin and cheeks, which has never happened before). Also, my shoulders have 4 or 5 big red bumps on them :( I'm disappointed because I really wanted this stuff to work since it's a reasonable price and is "all natural". Also, as a side note, my boyfriend thought I smelled like a "mouldy basement"... However, I recommend this to some people because I'm sure it is effective for some. I'm going to go back to using BP again and will definitely try TTO in the future.

Pros:

Pretty cheap if you know where to get it (see -bottom line-) ~Organic!~ Overall *heals* skin and makes it feel fresh and new; and most importantly, get rid of acne!

Cons:

The smell is bad, but I think it's a little comforting because you know it's the real stuff- not masked in a million and two chemicals and other additives to look and smell pretty, etc. You will get used to the smell though pretty quickly.

For tea tree oil to really work wonders, you need to use it at the end of your face cleaning routine and consistently. I sleep with my cat every night and since tea tree oil is a known poison to cats and other animals, I'm a bit paranoid = I dry my face with my hairdryer before leaving the bathroom [and I honestly think that this also helps the oil work on my face faster and more thoroughly; plus, prevents oil from getting on pillow or anything (I've never had this problem but other reviews mention it)]. I've searched everywhere and the best priced tea tree oil can be found at Target (for about $5)! Your next best bet is Walmart for about $8; and after that your forced to pay $10 and up (CVS, Walgreens, local grocery store, etc.). Since this product _is_ an _oil_ = can leave skin oily = I only use this product at night (and not in the morning when you need to put on makeup after cleaning the face). Apply with a clean finger tip (not a cotton ball, tissue, cloth)

Pros:

dries up current zits very quickly, good to add to current toner or cleanser, i myself like the smell, 2 oz. is a good size, available at local drugstore/walmart, cheap, evens out skin tone, lessens scars, over time inflamation of old zits goes down.

Cons:

my dad hates the smell and so i have to keep it away in my room, the glass bottle almost broke because i dropped it since the oil gets on the bottle...making it slippery, makes skin flaky, inflames skin.

i recommend it. probably best at night because it does make your skin dry and it does make it inflamed and you do stink.

Pros:

Dries out pimples better and faster than benzol peroxide or salyic acid products I've tried.

Cons:

Some may not like the smell, I didn't really mind since it was helping my acne so well. If you get it near your lips it numbs them for maybe 15 minutes. Leaves patches of flaky skin, but that's better than a pimple!

About the best product I've found for spot treatment. I apply it by dipping a qtip in the bottle then rubbing a little on each pimple. Its not a miracle cure or anything, but really good at drying out problem pimples in a couple days. I had a bad one on Monday morning, started applying this twice a day and by Wednesday evening all that was left was a little patch of dried skin. Also seems to prevent big ones, when you feel that sore pink large area on your cheek, put some ice on it and occasional tea tree oil and it will never form into a bad one. I found it in the vitamin aisle of the local large grocery store pharmacy department.

Pros:

natural product, does not interfere with immune system, low cost

Cons:

drying, odor

I've used a dilution (up to 15%) in water daily for a few years now and am very happy with it. I would NOT recommend using full strength. Water does not mix well with oil but shaking before use works fine. Have had benzoil peroxide allergies and issues with prolonged antibiotic use before I found this. Still have occasional breakouts but acne is smaller, goes away quicker and is overall dramatically less.

Pros:

reduces the size of blemishes (even the giant cysts that i have the hardest time getting rid of) overnight, deep cleans really well

Cons:

doesn't eliminate redness, smells terrible, drying (but if jojoba is applied right after, then not so drying), why do i still have some blackheads??

I've had very severe acne for years and have tried pretty much every over the counter/ prescription product available. i had the best results with benzoyl peroxide and used that for years, eventually working up to 10%. then about a year ago it just stopped working for me! i tried a bunch of things, including retin-a, and then my cousin bought me a jar of 20% tea tree oil.... it's the best thing i've found! so i use it despite the harsh smell

Pros:

Clears almost overnight, reduces redness dramatically, prevents a really noticeacble scar, strange but soothing tingling feeling, interesting smell, doesnt dry out the skin, all natural product so no chemical burns

Cons:

The family dont like the smell! Other than that.. None

I find the thote of using some benzoyl chemical quite scary and i would rather use a natural oil that put something on my face that may bleach my hair.. Ive only recently started using it and each time i have used it the spots seem to have died down within 2 days.. I have found it irritates my skin when i apply it directly to the skin, so i first apply a moisturizer and then use a Q-tip to dab the oil onto the spots.. This prevents the spreading of the bacteria. Yay =] Also.. i really like the burning feeling and the smell!
