Tea tree oil is defined by international standard ISO 4730 (2004) (“Oil of Melaleuca, Terpinen-4-ol type”), which specifies levels of 15 components, which are needed to define the oil as “tea tree oil.”

Among over 98 compounds contained in the oil, terpinen-4-ol is responsible for most of the antimicrobial activity.

Pros:

Fast results, reduces redness, clears up acne

Cons:

Strong smell, tendency to cause some dryness

It does have a strong smell, but I really like it. I put it on before I go to bed and it seems my face instantly looks better. The redness is gone and my acne clears up within a couple days. It does have a tendency to cause dryness, but I put wild yam cream on top of it so with the two combined I get wonderful results. Plus, tea tree oil is so much healthier than prescription or store bought stuff.

Pros:

Conrols breakouts, dries blemishes quickly, quickens healing of already popped or inflamed blemishes, reduces amount of blackheads over time

Cons:

none

I use a couple drops mixed in with an aloe and glycerin based gel I got in a waxing kit. So far, the combination has worked wonders on my stubborn breakouts and has even helped to accelerate healing on my face, causing all those pits and boxcars-to-be mesh back into my healthy skin. Though not a fan of Neutrogena, I use the Oil- Free Acne Wash Redness Soothing Cream Cleanser, I combine this with BeFine's Firming Toner as it contains a natural source of salicylic acid. The gel and tea tree oil I use as a daytime moisturizer, and during the night I use a vitamin c cream with the tea tree. I have 2 spots, but you can thank hormones for that ;)

Pros:

It dried up my acne greatly! And my scars are starting to disappear

Cons:

My skin's mostly combination, so it can get dry in various areas. So I top it with moisturizer

I purchased the Daily cleanser, Night Cleanser, Tea Tree Oil, and the Tea Tree Concealer from the Body Shop all on monday night. It is now friday afternoon and all the acne I had on monday completely dried up! It'll break your budget a bit, but it's definitely worth it!

Pros:

Reduces redness, my skin is less oily, acne is slowly vanishing, safer than benzoil peroxide, multi-purpose (cuts, bites, ect.).

Cons:

Has a strong smell, but I got used to it.

Well, I was on BP for about a year, then found some distrubing things about long-term use of BP. I tried other natural product, but just broke out worse. Then, I found out that BP makes your acne more resistant. I then started using tea tree oil (undiluted) and my acne is slowly fading, Had some whiteheads come up, but left them alone and they are gone! I have combo skin, so it dries out the normal parts of my face a bit, so I use an oil-fre moisturizer. Once my acne is competely cleared up, I will dilute the oil and just use the 100% for spot treatment. While tea tree oil has been link to some other things (rare estrogen production, sesitization), I would rather have that than premature aging and tumors growing on my face (from BP). Even "natural products", you would be surprised as to some of the harmful chemicals in them. The Body shop line has restricted ingredients. So far, tea tree oil has the least amount of risks I have found and it seems to be doing great!

Pros:

after washing my face with a tea tree oil face wash my face feels very clean and fresh. it also makes my skin less oily

Cons:

did not clear up my acne at all. it actually has gotten(sp?) worse since i've been using this product.

i went to the body shop and bought a t.t.o face wash, night lotion, face mask, and 100% t.t.o. they said i should see clearer skin in one week but i didnt. i liked the fact that it was all natural but overall it didnt really work. also my acne is not bad, i just get a few pimples once in a while and tea tree oil didnt even help that! my skin now has alot more acne

Pros:

Works amazingly. You can feel how clean your skin is afterward. Completely got rid of my blemishes and pimples. I'm now zit-free and am not prone to breakouts as much as I used to be.

Cons:

People complain about the smell. Frankly, I guess because I've been doing it for years, I like the smell now. It took getting used to, but it definitely wasn't unbearable. Also, it dries your skin, so use a moisturizer afterward.

Tea Tree Oil was recommended to me by a hair stylist I used to go to. I went and bought it at my local pharmacy, tried it, and I really liked the burney, tingley sensation. It didn't hurt, but there was definitely a burning there. After a few minutes my face felt so clean. After a three or four days, my pimples were completely gone. After a week, my face was one even color. No red, no blemishes at all. Now the only time I ever break out is right before I get my period, but I no longer get an embarrassing amount when I do. One or two, which are usually gone in two days max. I always buy 100% Tea Tree Oil. I don't trust products that say they use it in their ingredients. 100% has always worked the best for me. Desert Essence makes a good one.

Pros:

Completely cleared up my back and I have tried everything. Try it!

Cons:

I don't mind the smell, I just used it at night. But it can be strong at first. It can also be slightly drying for sensitive skin like mine.

I had backne for forever. I tried prescriptions and everything. I decided to take the natural approach and bought pure 100% tea tree oil. It cleared it up completely within a week. You have to buy "Melaleuca alternifolia" (a certain species that has the healing effect). I just got my bottle from Target (cheap!). I diluted it in water (8 parts water for every 1 part tree tree oil) and poured on a cotton swab. I love it and strongly recommend it.

Pros:

I have only just started to use tea tree oil. It feels great and light, it doesn't hurt the skin and already my skin feels lighter and less greasy.

Cons:

Burns if you get it in your eyes:(, but you'd hae to be stupid like me to manage to.

I use 4-5 drops of 100% tea tree oil in a pump spray bottle mixed with 50ml of distilled (sterile) water, and wash my face with an organic tea tree oil soap, and spray that on afterwards. To close the pores i use Avene water spray (also sterile). This works really well, it feels light and smells, in my opinion, really good. Avene spray is amazing, it dries spots out and cools your face down without the need for you to touch the infected areas. Overall i think it is great. I also drink hot water and lemon twice a day before i eat or drink anything. After an age, trying every different skin care regime ( clinique, clearasil, olive oil, acne.org, dermalogica), this seems to really work. You MUST try this.

Pros:

Reduces reddness, makes acne less and less noticable.

Cons:

People say the smell, but i like it. Kinda of a Eucalyptis/ something else smell.

Usually when you get out of the shower acne is red and inflammed... if you apply tea tree oil as soon as you get out of the shower (when your pores are wide open) it works best! It BURNS for about 2-3 minutes. If you CANT handle pain or have sensitive skin DONT do this. As soon as my face completley dried, the redness was already gone, and acne alot smaller. Ive only used this product 2 times(12 hours) and can already see a difference. I use the 100% T.T.O and dont dilute it. My skin is not sensitive at all so its okay for me. I hope it continues to work like it has in the 2 applications ive used! Hope this helps!

Pros:

Decreased the amount of oil on my face.
Smell was definitely different at first, but got used to it now.

Cons:

Been using the line from bodyshop and acne isn't clearing up at all,

As all the other products out there, try them and see if they work for you, 'cause everyone has different reactions to products. I actually thought this product would be the one for me, but it's not doing much right now and I feel like moving on from this product.
