Best Non-Irritating Spot Treatment
As a person who only spends money on a facial cleanser and toner, I always am looking around the house for treatments I can use without spending money. So far, tea tree oil is my favorite. I have been using it for several years now, and at first I was turned off by the smell and drying effect it had (my skin was very oily at the time; it has improved since). However, after trying OTC benzoyl peroxide and noticing it had little to no effect on my pimples, I have turned back to using it twice a day after washing my face and applying a toner. The trick is using a cotton swab (Q-tip) instead of a cotton ball or your fingers, applying it only on large pimples, not on large areas. Although it dries out the pimple, it still tends to make it somewhat greasy feeling afterward. Therefore, I have to wait about 20 minutes before applying makeup to my face, which is a downside.

This product is a little iffy

Pros:

Probably good for whiteheads

Cons:

Makes skin dry
Makes skin red
Burns and smells wierd

I am 15 and have oily and sensitive skin. I used to suffer from white heads all over my t zone but after using a benzoyl peroxide wash and a medicine prescribed by my doctor called minocycline, it has cleared up a lot. Now however, I have big cysts that form on my cheeks. I thought i was almost out of the woods but then these things came and they are painful and make my skin look swollen. I tried applying tea tree oil as spot treatment but it doesnt really do much. It mostly just dries out the surface skin over the cyst. And i can only use it at night because it makes the area extremely red (this may be because my skin is kind of sensitive). It burns when you apply it at first and has a strange smell but i am used to both of these things by now. I am torn though because i think it helps decrease the cyst size a little bit, but it just dries the crap out of the area. I dont think i would recommend this for people with cystic acne but i think it would be a great for whiteheads because it would dry and draw out the gross stuff. I wouldnt recommend it if you have dry skin because it will most likely make you flaky. But it may just be so drying on me because i use it following a bp cleanser. You might give it a shot, especially if you have oily whiteheaded skin, but i think it just depends on who you are and what condition your skin is in. Sorry that was lengthy but hopefully it helped.

Works for me

Pros:

Brings pimples to a head.
Dries out zits quickly.

Cons:

The smell is VERY strong

I used this when I used to get huge pimples that would not come to a head. It tingles when you apply it, but don't worry. It will also cause the skin, on the area you applied it, to flake. That's completely normal if you're using it undiluted. Which you should only do if you are spot treating. I also want to let you know that not all brands are created equal. Desert Essence worked AMAZING for me, but I tried a different brand when it ran out because it was a little pricey. Well I learned my lesson because the other brand did nothing for me.

Pros:

Dries spots
Helped my red marks
Personally LOVE the smell

Cons:

Only problem is I go through the small bottles too fast!

I LOVE tea tree oil <3 If I feel a pesky spot coming up I just dab some on and it takes the fight out of it. It doesn't seem to be too effective on the cysts I get sometimes though, but then, nothing is. The smell does kind of stink up your whole room, but I love the way it smells! All in all, it's a must have in my spot fighting arsenal.

Pros:

Only a small amount needs to be used,
Feels clean & fresh,
Fast results & it's all natural.

Cons:

A small bottle can be a little expensive.

I am about 18 weeks pregnant. I have always had a problem with acne but it has gotten more severe with pregnancy. Your options are limited when your expecting so home remedies I have found are the best option for me. I have been doing a acne regimen of my own every night for about a week. First, I make a paste with baking soda & water. I scrub this on my face & let it dry (takes about 3 minutes) then, I rinse with lukewarm water. Next, I take a cotton ball with witch hazel on it & use it as an astringent (It doesn't sting or dry my face out like a normal astringent). I then moisturize my face with a oil-free moisturizer. Finally, I use the tea tree oil as a spot treatment. My husband & I have had wonderful results so far & I cannot wait to see what our results are a month from now! Good luck to everyone & I hope this review helps :)

Pros:

No more acne break outs!

Cons:

can dry out your skin

This stuff is amazing! I have been trying a lot of natural cures for my cystic acne for the past couple of years and nothing has worked as well as Tea Tree Oil. I usually break out once every couple of weeks with a big painful bump but i havent had a single break out since i started using this. I only use this at night because it does dry out your skin and the smell can be a bit too much. After washing my face, I spread this directly onto my face with my fingertips (no diluting). Then i use a cotton pad saturated with witch hazel to take it off and apply moisturizer. I'm considering getting a life-time supply!

Pros:

- worked quickly
- natural
- smells refreshing (that might be just me)
- cheap
- reduced red marks and old scars

Cons:

- skin felt oily
- stung a bit
- messy

I mixed a few drops with a dime sized portion of Ponds moisturizing cream. I left it on for an hour while i did some homework at night. But i felt like it might be too much for my skin and i didn't want to sleep all oily, so i washed it off. The next morning, my pimples were under control. My skin tone looked more even. The thing i liked the most was that my old acne scars had considerably faded. I think if i used this consistantly it would have worked. But its too messy and oily for my likes.

Pros:

Not awfully expensive, if you find from eco shop.

Cons:

Did not work.
Smells awful.

I tried tea tree oil after a beautician from the body shop recommended it for me. I bought their brand and I bought other brand from eco shop. Neither worked, and the smell was just eye watering. It did work wonderfully on flu and blocked nose when I put a drop in hot water and put a towel over my head, though!
