Pros:

Cheap with insurance.

Cons:

Severe nausea, increase whiteheads, heaches, swollen joints, severe cramps, blood clots, smelly periods, disorientation and severe back pain.

I have stopped taking this poison and I'm still feeling the effects of it. I did not want to use any type of BC, but to go on Spironolacton* I had to go on a BC. Mu docotr also claimed it had some Spironalacton in it. The first two nights I got horrible headaches, but did not connect them to the pill and everything was pretty normal. Then towards the start of the second month, I started bleeding when I wasn't even on the placebo and that's when the horrible side effects began. My face was just as oily and pimple prone while on this pill, so no changes there. I thought I knew what pain was, and Yaz showed me how wrong I was. I honestly feel like dying and I will NEVER touch another BC again.

Pros:

Cleared up skin
Weight stayed the same
NO MOOD SWINGS!
No cramping
Period comes right on time every month

Cons:

Some cravings around period
Occasional Migraines (nothing life disrupting or that a few Tylenol can't fix)

I've been on Yaz for 6 months now. It started working immediately for regulating my period and it took about four months for my acne to clear up but not my skin looks great so it was well worth the wait! I was on Loestrin 24Fe before this for 4 months and it made me super depressed and didn't help my skin or regulate my period. Yaz has been a wonderful change.

Pros:

Cleared up acne completely
Regulated period
No pregnancy
No mood swings
No weight gain
No effect on sex drive

Cons:

Still had awful cramps
Still had heavy flow

I went on birth control in an effort to stop my extremely painful cramps. I went on Yaz for a bit more than a year, and it didn't help. I stayed on it though, and it completely cleared my acne. I really liked that. I recently switched to Loestrin 24 fe, which has caused my acne to return, so it's upsetting to have had great skin for such a limited time. Loestrin is causing a lot of break through bleeding though, so I'm going to try another pill before going back to Yaz.

Pros:

None, honestly.

Cons:

More acne, moody, a period every 2 weeks, loss of motivation, expensive, joint pain.

Not worth it. Try other BCPs.

Pros:

Easy pregnancy prevention, face is less oily

Cons:

Dry mouth, not helping that much with acne, emotional rollercoaster during month 1, slightly decreased sex drive.

I'm almost finished with my second pack of Yaz. The first month was a little difficult. The second week, I didn't feel like myself and thought I was going crazy! I felt angry and exhausted, and didn't want to be around anyone at all. I was quite nauseated during the first pack, and I bled the first 3,5 weeks straight. That finally subsided at the start of the second pack. I have one week left on it. I was really hoping to see a difference in my skin. I've had acne since I was 12 years old, and have taken a variety to BC pills to control it (Demulen, Ortho-tricyclen, Ortho-tricyclen Lo, something else....). I had glowing skin while on these, and constantly got compliments from strangers on my skin. Not anymore! I went off the pill at 26, and my face gradually got worse until I started the Yaz at 30. I'm going to give this pill another few months to see if my acne goes away. If not, it's the Dermatologist for me! I've had it with the zits!

Pros:

cleared up my skin, no pregnancies, very affordable for me, helped with pmdd

Cons:

none

Everyone who says "don't try it" should not be giving that advice. No drug will react to everyone the same. Everyone has different body chemistry. Also Yaz is for people with pmdd, it does nothing for pms. And it is for people who have moderate acne. It will not work for everyone unfortunately but it is not uncommon that girls have to try several types of birth control until they kind the one that works for them. Yaz has done wonders for me. I have bad anxiety & it hasn't exasperated it in anyway which proves my point that it, like any drug, affects everyone differently. Bottom line try it for at least 3 months, if it isn't for you try another one its trial & error.

Pros:

Safe way to conrol acne for the long term. I was on Doxy (antibiotic) and it worked 100% for 8 month then it all came back.

Cons:

HORRIBLE ACNE FIRST THREE MONTHS. It took me a week to get over the severe side effects of yaz (insomnia, dehydration, depression). I still have constipation now in month 3.

I started retinol A Two weeks after starting yaz. The have pretty much the same effects. They give horrible initial breakouts and work after 3 months. I am 23 and I started getting acne at 21. -First month I got a millions little pimples. -Second month I got some black heads. -Third months my little pimple turned into huge pus filled pimples. I could not touch my face. I am beginning the last week of the third pack. I have really bad red scarring. When I look in the mirror it still looks like I have acne from the scars, but when I touch my face it is smooth. I have three tiny little pimple right now, which will probably go away in a few days. I only got acne where I usually get acne. The two inches right in the middle of my forehead. Luckily I was able to cover it with a new hair style (bangs), otherwise I would not have been able to bare the acne. The first three months were sooo bad. I suggest getting bangs or waiting to start during summer vacation and plan on goin

Keeps my skin in check!
I have been taking Yaz for 6 years now and it has been great! No negative side effects for me; no weight gain, no mood swings or low sex drive. I believe that Yaz has kept my skin's oil levels under control as well as the acne lesions that occur. I skip my placebos so that I only have 4 "periods" a year.
