Pros:

Birth Control!

Cons:

Had no effect on my acne, probably because I didn't take it long enough.

I gained 10 pounds in the first week. Horrible! I still haven't lost the weight and after I stopped treatment I kept gaining weight. I had never been this way before taking the pill.

Pros:

Have not found one yet

Cons:

May have gotten worse

I have been on YAZ for 4 months and if anything it has made my acne worse. I had mild acne only on my forehead and then when I took the YAZ it spread to my checks with the red deep zits. Not a lot but when one would clear I would get another. My Dermo just now put me on a low dose of Spiro with the Yaz, but that too is not helping at all. I either need to change pills or up the Spiro.

Pros:

I didn't gain weight, period came on time, face cleared

Cons:

I never get angry and I was always angry and upset, and I thought it was supposed to help that? I have never been so angry before. I had severe and painful bloating, severe migraines. Never again.

I called my doctor, Yaz was the third birth control I've been on in a 7 year period. She is switching me to Cyclessa, we'll see how it goes. Everyone's different, but this did NOT work for me.

Pros:

None, unless pregnancy is a concern for you. Oh--I have boobs!

Cons:

-Vaginal dryness
-Constant breakthrough bleeding (I think I bleed more days than not)
-Unpredictable periods

OB/Gyn stuck me on this because of my skin. It hasn't done anything yet. No improvement after 7 weeks. I want clear skin for when I finally see my long distance sweetheart--it's possible I might look decent again by our date, but if I do, I'll be too dry to have much fun. I can't pin down my periods anymore. I've had two this month and they last much longer than they should. I also have breakthrough bleeding more days than not. I think it may also be affecting my mood. I am extra grumpy and emotional.

Pros:

cleared up my skin

Cons:

made me a psychotic mess!

The depression and side effects of feeling like I was losing it wasn't worth the clear skin.....and I was willing just to do about anything to clear up cystic acne! Not worth it for me. Regular Yasmin bc much better choice for me.

Mixed feelings

Pros:

Can see change within first month
Clears skin quite quickly

Cons:

I experienced severe nausea and bloating
Became lethargic
Is a little pricey (in Australia)

After years of painful hormonal acne and trying all the creams in the world I went to my doctor and she prescribed Yaz (my first BCP). Within the first 3-4 weeks of use my skin already had begun to clear up and calm down with less angry breakouts and pimples that weren't as deep under the skin. The only thing is that my body did not like it one bit! I had severe nausea the whole time I was on Yaz (only a month). And when I say "severe", I mean SEVERE. I also started to feel quite lethargic since starting it. It was so bad that I have now changed pill. I don't know if this will happen with everyone or if it was just too strong for me. Despite this, it did wonders for my skin :) I would recommend this for those with severe to moderate acne but side effects always vary between women. If the side effects such as nausea, tiredness and any emotional changes (no emotional changes for me so far) are too much to deal with, it is so not worth staying on. Get on a different one!

Pros:

-Does help prevent acne from getting worse (if your acne is at least partly hormonal)

Cons:

-Does not clear acne
-Increased risk of DVTs, PEs, and stroke (this bc pill causes a significant risk of blood clots people!)

I was put on Yaz a little over a year ago to help with my acne and did notice a slight improvement over the year (nothing to jump up and down about). However, I recently decided the heath risks and expense of the prescription were not worth the small benefits so I stopped. I broke out BAD! Worse than before I was put on the pill for sure. Its been 2 months since stopping now and its only getting worse. I wish I would have never gone on it to begin with.

Pros:

affordable with insurance and can be taken with out water

Cons:

spotting, intense hormonal fluctuation, intense facial break-out

DO NOT use this product if you have problems with acne. My mild acne turned into severe acne within ONE WEEK of using this. I was horrified and looked up the reviews on this site. One after the other described my symptoms of large lumpy cystic skin on the jawline that was never previously there. I tossed my pills out and within 2 days my skin because 50% better. But I now have mild-moderate acne that needs three other prescriptions to fix the irritation of this product. It triggered a flare up. Please trust these reviews, thank god I did or else I would be locked in my room with a bag over my head!
