Pros:

Clear Skin
Shorter Periods
Less Menstrual Cramps

Cons:

Increased Appetite Leading to +7 lbs of Weight

Other than a little weight gain (and I've always been a big eater, so this could have also just have been my own bad habits), I didn't experience any negative side effects from this drug - no nausea, moodiness, depression, etc. ...something I was not expecting as I've read so many horror stories. The pill cleared up my skin after about 2 months, and worked it's wonders for about 3 years... and then... It almost seemed to stop working. The last 6 months have been awful - deep, big pimples all over my cheeks, near my mouth, and jaw - this kind of acne tends to leave scars, of which I have many now. My periods are also completely out of whack. I've been told that my hormones might just be going through changes (I'm 26), and therefore Yaz just doesn't work the same way. I've decided to give Diane-35 a chance before I try Accutane.

Pros:

It got rid of the acne

Cons:

It caused menstrual bleeding 3 of 4 weeks of the month

Used it for 6 months and got off of it because I would rather have acne than spot almost all the time. The fact that I was bleeding so much I figured it was screwing me up internally.

Pros:

cleared up skin! -no weight gain, no mood swings, short & light periods, regulated periods, no pregnancies

Cons:

a little breast soreness. price( but it's worth it in my opinion)

I had mild acne before going on the pill but nothing too bad, just a few pimples right before my period. My gyno put me on ortho lo, and kariva which both gave me awful cystic acne around my jaw line. i still have scars! I have been on yaz for 3 months now and i love, love, love it! I have only had a few tiny breakouts but no cystic pimples. ( i am also taking spironolactone prescribed by my dermatologist but didn't notice a huge difference until i started taking yaz)

Pros:

clears body acne, especially back; regulates cycle; makes flows less heavy; reduces pre-cycle breakouts (i.e. cystic acne)

Cons:

weight gain (small amount); cramps seem to be a bit worse

totally worth it. inexpensive, multitasking, minimal side effects. No nausea, which is awesome, especially for the pill. i saw results after about one month (one pack).

Pros:

Cleared up my skin after about two months, lost five pounds, shorter and predictable periods

Cons:

Initial breakout, it seems like I have a little more cramping around my period

I love Yaz! It took a little while, but after sticking with it my skin has cleared up a lot. I am in my fourth month, so I occasionally still get small pimples, but they are nothing compared to the painful cysts I was getting before. The small increase in cramping is worth the clearer skin, and honestly, the cramping is not too bad. I would definitely recommend Yaz if you are thinking about trying accutane but want to rule everything else out first. Also, it is important to stick with it, during the first month I wanted to give up, but I am glad that I didn't.

Pros:

Cleared skin a lot!!!!
Got rid of cramping etc.
lighter shorter periods
Smooth skin
Less intense sore acne
When you get the occasional spot it's the tiniest thing ever
Reduces size and redness

Cons:

It takes time for acne to clear
Skin feels like it's getting worse
Doesn't take away scarring
If you stopped it for a month, you would have bad skin again

I didn't have the worst skin ever, but it was being a downer on my life. I tried every treatment then I went on anti biotics stopped that, and I have been on the pill since July 2012 and my aim was to be CLEAR by October 2012 (formal). It did take a while to kick in, but it's so worth the wait! When formal came around I was so happy! Clear smooth skin hardly had to put any make up on! It was great I felt great, my self esteem was up 100%. I highly recommend YAZ if not any other pill! Good luck

Pros:

My skin is starting to clear up after the first breakout.
My moods on the active pills are great
Up a cup size
Barely any weight gain

Cons:

Breakout within the first Month
Horrible breakout on back
Mood swings when on Placebo
If I miss the pill in a couple of hours I get digestive problems
Blood clot risk

Try it! Im only on the first month and my skin is clearing up the cysts on the side of my face. (Although I have little whiteheads on my forehead, but that can wait a little longer) I was so depressed about my skin, I did everything right, but i still broke out. So I thought maybe its just hormone problems so I asked my doc about BCP and she presecribed me this, so far so good. When I hit the third month I'll come back And do another review.

Pros:

-Haven't had ONE breakout since I've started.
-Boobs are a bittt bigger.

Cons:

-Boobs are sore.

I've only been on the pill for 9 days. Maybe that's why I haven't gotten so many side effects?. But I'll keep track and write here again if things change at all. So far, I haven't even really noticed I'm taking the pill. I've had no cons, except my boobs being sore when I really push them in, or especially sleep on them, or if I have any type of rough contact with them, but that doesn't happen very often, because I've learned to sleep on my stomach and such.. I also like that my boobs are a bit bigger. Before I started the pill, they were on the small side, at a B cup. That's fine for me, because I'm only 15, but bigger would be nice too, I wouldn't mind :). And the BEST thing has been that I haven't had ONE breakout since I started the pill. My skin is starting to look a tad clearer because I don't have any new breakouts. BUT, it hasn't started to actually clear my other blemishes or marks, but I'm assuming it won't do that until a few months in, so I have to wait and be patient. Everyone comments on nausea, depression, mood swings, headaches, and more, as the most common side effects, but so far I've had ZERO :) Over all, Despite all the horrible reviews, I personally think this is the pill for me. Everyone's different but I find no side effects with this pill :).. so far atleast. let's hope it stays like this! -So far, SO GOOD :) I say don't let reviews scare you!!

Pros:

regular periods
less acne
can skip a period if i have to
no pregnancies

Cons:

cramps
headaches
takes a couple months to kick in, but same goes for any birth control.

i've struggled with acne for about 5 years now. i refused to go on accutane so my derm told me to try birth control. i tried Ocella (generic brand of Yasmin) and it was HORRIBLE. i had the most painful, worst, digsgusting break out that i ever in my entire life. i told my dr. to switch it and she gave me Yaz. within a month i was getting less pimples and the older ones were going away quicker. I've been on it for just about a year now and i only get 2 or 3 small pimples instead of 10 big ones all over my face. The pimples are a lot smaller & go away faster. I do get more break outs during that time of month, but thats because its all hormonal. The only bad thing i noticed since starting Yaz is that i get bad cramps & headaches the first 2 days when i get my period, but you have to remember certain BCs work differently for different people. For some people it makes them not get cramps. Other than that, i would definetly recommend trying it!

Pros:

My skin is a lot clearer since using this!

Cons:

Did weird things to my sex drive at first, but that seems to have gone away. Also, the potential side effects are kind of scary.

This stuff has been great to my hormonal skin. Before this I was on spironolactone which was also excellent, but I needed a birth control and Yaz works very similarly to Spironolactone in treating acne but is a form of birth control. I'm on my second month and my skin is looking pretty good. I am also using lemon juice as a topical at night, mixed with water. That is really great at helping fade red marks acne has left behind. The combo really is working for me. The only thing is (and this has nothing to do with the medicine), I've noticed that whenever I eat crappy foods and products containing REFINED SUGAR, specifically, I break out. Diet is a huge part of winning the fight against acne. The dermatologist will of course disagree because if you eat a clean diet with lots of fruits, veggies and water (little or no soda, candy, sweets, fried foods, etc.) then you're not going to keep going to see him/her. This may not cure it 100%, but I've found that it helps a LOT.
