Pros:

reduced my facial hair, cleared up acne, lighter period, little to no cramping

Cons:

slight weight gain (which is my fault anyway), increased breast size

I have PCOS, complete with hirsutism and mild acne. Diane-35 reduced my facial hair, eradicated it on my chest, and cleared up my acne entirely. I have had no depression issues that I had not had before. In fact, I feel far better, because I look better.

Worked for me

Pros:

No acne
Facial hair loss
No clots or cramps during period

Cons:

Weight gain when coming off it

I was on Diane 35 since I was 17 (am 35 now). I was put on it due to acne and also a little of hair on face. It definitely worked for that as I have always been commented on my great skin and having had acne problems since. The hair on face decreased. I used to suffer from lots of clots during my period since I first got them but in this pill that stopped. I didn't have any issues with hair loss on my head and my moods were always good (eg didn't ever have PMS and no cramping either.) I went off Diane 35 in January this year after I heard of the deaths and health risks after being in it do long. I went to my GP and whilst she wasn't concerned as I was we changed me over to Levlen. After two months on that I had to go off it as it turned me into a complete bitch (my poor husband!) and I was always depressed and crying. In the end we decided it was best for my health to go off all pills and just be careful. Finally after 6 months my body feels like its back in balance. A us was my periods were regular from the start and this hasn't changed. The only negative of going off the pill is that I have put on a good 10kg. Not good as I have been trying to lose weight so that we can start for a family. I have been eating healthy and better than when on the pill. Not sure why this is happening, the only thing I can put if down to is my hormones are still not in balance. I have had my thyroid checked twice as well as general check up and blood tests for other possible causes. Nothing wrong there at all. We have decided to start for a baby now as being 35 turning 36 this year and after being on the pill so long, we don't want to wait any longer before trying. Fingers crossed it doesn't take long!

Pros:

- clears up acne
- skin and scalp less oily
- can choose to skip the sugar pills
- cheapish
- you need to go off it when trying to get pregnant and when pregnant
- acne comes back when you go off it, in as little as a week

Cons:

- you have to remember to take it every day (not a problem for me though)
- initially takes a while to work completely (about 3 + months)
- causes mood swings and depression in some women (not me)

a pretty good solution if you have oily skin, but not so good for the long term. If you've tried everything, try this, though.

Pros:

My mother is a dermatologist and has been treating my acne since I was 11. However, it was my gyno who "cured" my acne when he suggested this. It cleared up my skin considerably and I am NEVER oily! Also, I have lighter periods and bigger breasts:D

Cons:

There are lots of risks with Diane and I have had some mysterious medical problems that may be connected to it. However this is just speculation. Also, when I tried to go off them my skin went crazy and I had to start again.

I would recommend this to anyone with bad acne! I have tried for so many years all sorts of treatments, including diets, extractions, masks, products and nothing has worked. The reason was I had no idea I had a hormonal problem due to polycystic ovaries (A condition which is rare in young thin girls and usually goes by unnoticed). Bottom line was that my acne was caused by a hormonal inbalance and Diane is the only thing that has helped me. It has not cleared my skin completly but I have gone from having moederatly severe acne to having light acne (occasionaly worse with period break outs) This product is great! It also left my skin and hair oil free and my breasts went up a full cup in size! In the long term I dont want to use Diane because of the risks and side effects, However a 1-2 year treatment is ideal to help the skin reach its normal balance (less treatment time will not give lasting results)

Pros:

contraception, it's curing my acne, body hair grows very very slow, my hair is less greasy and doesn't fall anymore

Cons:

none!

I'm 26 and my acne is hormonal, I've always had a pimple here and there, but developed a cystic acne in the last year or so. After trying beauticians, chinese herbal medicine and cosmetics without success, I went to a dermatologist and gynaecologist, did blood tests, unltrasound, nothing major was found so I ended up with Diane 35. I've been using it for 5 months now. The first 3 months I was also taking antibiotics, which I regret, cause there was no effect at all. Actually my skin got worse, I guess the underlaying cysts were pushed to come to the surface. During the forth month there wasn't much of an improvement, but during the fifth month I saw changes literally every single day. I don't have painful cysts anymore, some are totally cured, others are currently curing but on the surface. Occasionally I get new pimples, but they are all small and don't last. I'm planning to take it for 6 more months and then stop it and try to have a baby, but I'm afraid of the bad acne coming bac

Pros:

Birth Control, Bigger fuller breasts (from AA to C) and wider hips, Less unwanted body hair (slower growth), 99% clearer smoother skin, lowered sex drive ( this is great news for me) and can choose whether or not I want a period.

Cons:

First month came with slight nausea, temporary water retention and the occasional pimple.

Great for birth control, severe acne and excessive hair growth. My brother took Acutane for his morbidly severe acne/bacne and got depressed, lethargic, dry and couldn't drink alcohol because of the burden Acutane put on him. I decided to go with a more moderate for of acne treatment. Turns out I had a hormonal imbalance (which inherently made me a very masculine girl) and that Diane 35, which triple as a birth control pill and hair growth treatment could regulate it. I've been on it for 5 years and I feel like a woman with the loss of body hair, larger breasts and hips and clear skin ans back. Finally can wear a bathing suit without feeling like I shouldn't :D Finally, I did experience a major loss of sex drive. For most, I think this is undesirable, but I was worst than a teenage boy! I affected my relationship with my bf could could barely keep up... now we are at the same level and sex has stopped being a source of disagreement :)

Pros:

Clear skin, bigger breasts

Cons:

Suspected initial breakout

I have been dealing with acne for 15 years. I have been reading this site for a while and this is the first time i've wanted to post. My Derm put me on Diane 35 a month and a half ago. At first my skin broke out and I got a few cystic acne nodules. I thought that maybe it wouldn't work for me. Then last week everything changed and now my skin is completely clear and there are no new bumps in sight. This product is simply amazing. I've tried everything except Accutane and my derm said that was my next step if this didn't work. Diane 35 is a life saver. I should mention that I have moderate acne that had suddenly worsened in the past few months for no apparent reason(I am 30). I have yet to see the weight gain or any other negative side effect.

Pros:

Flawless skin, results are fast

Cons:

Mood Swings

You name it, I've tried it. I've been on ACUTANE, all the 'cyclines', Alesse, Yasmin, Pro-Active, Murad, and I've attempted to use tons of different topical creams (prescription/non-prescription). I'm on my 3rd month on Diane 35 at the same time my doc prescribed ' Differin Topical cream. My skin looks FLAWLESS. I haven't felt this good in a long time. If I get a pimple it's because of that 'TIME of the MONTH'. It goes away after a day. The best thing I can suggest: Ask your Doc to prescribe you Diane 35 along with Differin, wash your face with Dove Bar Soap (non scented), wait for your skin to be completely dry and apply the Differin. Every morning rinse your face with water afterwards apply Cetaphil face cream. Sometimes washing your face too much can make you breakout. Trust me, you will thank me. Diane 35 rocks! Note to self: everything has bad side effects. Sometimes you have to sacrifice one thing for something else. So it's up to you.

Pros:

clears skin, shapes your body (breasts & hips), hair in better condition

Cons:

none

i use these pills before going to sleep as i heard they start "working" after 4-5hrs and can be tough to handle with. although once i took it during the day and had some problems with breathing (like there was no oxygen) and felt too hot all the time. still, i'm more than satisfied with the results and strongly advise it to everyone with similar problems
