Cons:

A little breast tenderness at first.
Cystic acne at first (clears up)

For the first month and a half, Diane 35 gave me cystic acne on my face. But that cleared up quickly and now i havn't broken out once and I am up to my third month! I didnt gain weight like alot of the other reviews said, I actually lost alot. I would recommend this to anyone (females only obviously)

Pros:

Increased breast size, glowing skin, no PMS, no menses!

Cons:

Reduced sex drive (but good for single women who needs no sex!)

The first month I took Diane35, I already felt good. I saw a big improvement in my skin - a glowing face and no acne on my back. Plus, my breasts seem to "swell" a bit more, I don't have mood swings or depression due to PMS, and I don't see any weight gain. I'm happy that I have a reduced sex drive as well because I am single currently and do not wish to have too high a libido ;) I'm on my second month now and happy. Note: on the first month, I had spotting (irregular bleeding),but now it totally stopped.

What can I say? It works.

Pros:

No negative side-effects
Cleared my skin completely
Lowered oil production and made my skin smoother

Cons:

Increased risk of blood clots while on medication
Can cause depression or other negative side-effects
Takes a while to work

I have to give this medication 5 stars. I'm aware that there are risks with this medication, just as there are risks whenever you take any birth control or medication of any kind. I was prescribed Diane-35 because I went to see my doctor about my acne. He determined that it was hormonal acne and told me to give this medication a try. That was a year ago. I had skin so oily that I couldn't wear make-up (it would melt off my face in oily patches throughout the day), but so much acne, redness, and irritation that I felt I couldn't leave my house without covering it up. I tried everything - every kind of acne cleanser, cream, gel, spot treatment...I was so fed up with spending so much time and money on a perfect skin care routine, only to see no results. Benzoyl peroxide helped a little bit with the pimples, but more always appeared and the amount of oil that my skin was producing was just horribly excessive. The texture of my skin was bad too; it was bumpy and rough. After I went on Diane-35, I expected something to happen. Nothing did, for three months. I didn't experience any negative side effects, but I didn't see an improvement in my skin either. Then, around month 3 or 4 of taking it, I started to notice that my skin was producing less oil than before. I could wear make-up on my face without it completely melting off! After 6 months of the medication, my skin truly started to clear up, the acne faded, and my skin became more smooth and soft. I've been taking it for a year now, with no noticeable negative side-effects. I truly believe that it is the only reason that I have clear skin today, and I am so grateful to both my doctor and this medication. I have so much more confidence now, and I highly recommend discussing this with your doctor if you believe that you have a hormone imbalance that is causing acne. I realize now that I must have had an excess of male hormones, which Diane-35 helped take care of. While I understand that some people have experienced negative side effects from this drug, I truly haven't. It's worth a talk with your doctor to find out if it's something you might want to look into getting.

Pros:

Clear skin, less oily skin, worry free skin...did I mention NO ACNE

Cons:

~dries skin out a bit so use a good moisturizer (i use sweet almond oil at night after washing face)
~It's more expensive than other BC pills

I needed an oral contraceptive and wanted one that would help me with my moderate acne. Yasmin, which is what I first went on, did nothing and broke me out in places on my face where I had not broken out before. When I switched to Diane-35 (that's what it's called in Canada) I didn't get sick or gain weight or get strange mood swings. Instead, my skin slowly stopped breaking out. My skin has been clear for 2/3 months now. I saw definitive results around the 6th/7th cycle (6months). I've been on this pill since Sept. 09. For all the girls who've been struggling with acne and have acne (whether mild or severe) that has affected their self-esteem GO ON DIANE-35. My best advice: SIMPLE face routine, NO EXFOLIATION (eventually irritates and damages your skin), and plenty of natural oil moisturizer (like jojoba oil, sweet almond oil or emu oil or something) My biggest mistake was thinking I didn't need to moisturize my skin because I had acne and oily skin and I thought moisturizing my skin would break me out. However, moisturizing your skin whenever you wash your face is a MUST. And please stay away from the chemical stuff. ONE MORE THING: WHEN TAKING A SHOWER, DO NOT FACE THE HOT WATER. Rather, use mild water (not hot and not cold) and gently splash the water in your face while using a mild face wash.

Pros:

Clear Skin
Prevents Pregnancy

Cons:

Sensitive Skin

I have been taking Diane-35 consistently for 11 years (I'm 26). In that time my acne has been clear except for the occasional pimple and the oiliness of my skin was so reduced I didn't even need to wash it in the mornings (just splashed with water). Last summer my drug plan switched me over to the generic Cyestra....it was awful. I felt like I had somebody else's skin. I kept getting these really red zits that took forever to clear. Recently I decided to see what my skin would be like without Diane. The first month was fine, just slightly oilier than normal, but after that I consistently had moderate acne and oily skin, despite using Benzoyl Peroxide and acne specific face wash and moisturizer twice a day. Apparently, even in my mid-twenties bad skin is still a problem that I am currently dealing with. I would absolutely recommend Diane to any girl with skin problems. I am happy to be back on it, and in the 11 years I have taken it have never had any problems with it. For me it's a miracle drug, without it I'm self-conscious, lose confidence, and shy away from circumstances where I would been seen without make-up. The only con was that I found my skin a little sensitive with it and recommend a good moisturizer and lip balm (I use vichy and lypsyl).

Be Patient! It takes a while for it to start clearing you up.
Hi Ladies I have been using this pill for 5 months now. For the first month I did'nt see any changes to the acne until second and third month which were the worst. The acne worsened during those two months, cystic pimples which were red and puss filled were all over my chin and jawline. Not forgetting the scarring that came with those cysts. I was so tempted to ditch this treatment and look for an alternative therapy. But due to reading a lot of posts with similar stories, I was hopeful that maybe I needed to give the diane a little bit more time. Its not until I hit the end of month 4 mark did I start seeing some clearing on my skin. Its now end of month my and I am completely clear. So one needs to be very patient with diane, clearing of the acne takes a while. But its worth the wait.

Good for acne, possibly you will need to switch to other pills after one year
Where I live, this pill is known as "Diane Nova". I began to use it at the beginning of year 2015 (February), at the age of 22 and used them until the start of the year 2016 (also February). I've been suffering from acne since I was 12 years old, and when I was 22 my skin problems had been hurting my confidence for a good 10 years. I've even tried Accutane (at the age of 17-18, known in here as Roaccutan) but the results were not permanent, and my acne returned almost immediately after finishing the 1-year treatment. Because of the price and the unsatisfying results, I did not give it another go. During using these pills I had very little side effects that would be associated with the use of birth control. I experienced that my face and hair started to be less greasy than before. By 6 months of using, my face was pretty much completely clear - I'd no longer get the painful, big bumps that I used to have under my skin several at a time. Now I would only get possibly two tiny pimples at a time, during that time of the month. My mood and confidense improved after this. After almost 1 year of using, I started to experience pain during and after intercourse. I went to the doctor and she told me it was dryness caused by the hormones in Diane pills, and that it was not uncommon. She said that people usually switch to another birth control pill after their acne has cleared, commonly by about a year of using Diane, and prescribed me another pill. I switched to another pill known as "Femoden" and my skin has remained clear after after switching. I'm now 23. My chest and back are finally completely free of acne, too. On my face I only get tiny pimples occasionally. From my experience, I warmly recommend birth control pill as a treatment for acne. It cleared my skin and it takes care of contraception, I plan to use birth control pills until I wish to have children, so I can not speak from experience if the acne will stay gone after quitting birth control - only that I remained clear after switching to another pill. However, because of side effects the same pill/method may not work for everyone. I feared to get side effects, but experienced almost none. For me it did get worse before it got better, the doctor told me that clearing would take 6+ months. I hope you find the treatment that works for you! In my journey I have lost hope at many points. Hang in there!

Helo I'm on dianne and I'm on month 2 and I feel like my acne is worse. How was yours at 2 months. How long did it take to clear
August 22, 2015
Loved it, stopped it and acne came back, back on it!
I went on diane 35 when I was around 15-16 and it cleared me right up. I still got the occasional break out when my period was coming or if I left makeup on but honestly what I mostly dealt with was scars which I didn't mind because bb cream could cover those. Anyways I am now 19 and I stopped it maybe December 2014, and June 2015 I HAD to visit my doctor and get it prescribed again because my face was just at its worst in years. I am now about to start my third pack and my face has gotten better than two months ago for sure. Still not great tho, and for those two months I broke out kinda bad. It's looking up though and I will stick with it because I know it works from experience, and why give up after two months? Just stick around for another two and hey you'll probably have clear skin! I started to pair retin-a with it about two weeks ago, every other day first week, and then moving up to everyday this week, at night. So far I haven't broken out more and I am hoping they make a good pair and that helps me with my scars and helps with the acne as well. I have a forum or whatever you call it where I am posting my results. Feel free to check it out if any of you wanna get on diane 35, or you are on it like me and wanna see progress compared to yours and discuss stuff!
