Pros:

Perfectly clear skin on arms, back, chest, neck and face after only two packs compared to disasterous skin before hand.

Cons:

Very emotional, stomach cramps (which never had before), increase in appetite and considerable weight gain in only two months, near depression.

Coming off it today as it has made me depressed and put on weight despite giving me great skin. Also messed with my emotions too much, all my friends and family noticed how much I changed. Worried about skin getting worse than before but I would prefer that to how I am feeling now.

iv been using dianette since i was 16, i had very bad acne. my skin eventually cleared up but as i felt i was very emotional from using it i decided to come off dianette when i was 19, only to find my acne got even worse. i went back on dianette, i am now 24, my skin is clear but i do get occasional spots on my rest days. i now feel constatnly sick and i believe its dianette that is making me feel like this however my doctor disagrees. i am scared to come off dianette as my skin may get very bad again.

Pros:

Completely cleared my skins after about 2 months of taking dianette. Skin less oily.

Cons:

Weight gain and chocolate cravings.

I'm going to continue to take dianette until the doc tells me to come off it. However am beginning to think if its worth it, the weight gain is out of contol, no matter how much exercise and healthy eating i do, the weight doesn't seem to come off!!! But it definitely does what it's meant to - my skin is clear!! :-)

Pros:

Cleared up my skin well. Breasts got (lots) bigger.

Cons:

Felt sick at times, threw up on the first day of taking it.

My six months on dianette are now up and I'm seriously considering just going back on it no matter the risks. My skin on my face, chest and back cleared up and as I was able to moisturise, the scars began to heal too. Everyone noticed the difference and I got a lot of positive comments even after the first few weeks.

Pros:

Regulates menstrual cycle very well and lightens periods. Definate reduction in body/facial hair and spot free.

Cons:

Migraines! Have always suffered but dianette aggriavted symtoms-had to stop because of this. Also, serious sweet craving a week before period.

Never suffered with acne until i stoped taking it! Now have spots on face and chest. Already noticed increased facial hair after stoping for 2 weeks. Significantly less bloated and 85% improvement with migraine. I'm at a crossroads- bloated and hairy without dianette or migraine and spotty with it...arnt i lucky!! Ps- the inital mood swings when starting Dianette really do improve after 8 weeks if you can stick it out. If you dont suffer migraine i definately recommend Dianette.

Pros:

Worked for a while, regular periods

Cons:

STOPS WORKING AND WHEN YOU STOP TAKING IT SPOTS ARE WORSE THAN EVER BEFORE

Avoid dianette if you can, or take it forever! Roaccutane is the way to go. Was on dianette for 15 years, stopped taking 18 months ago as didn't need contraception and wasn't working for spots (or wouldn't have needed 3 courses of roaccutane over the years!) Loads of little pimples started to appear all over my chest that I never had before starting dianette. Those eventually stopped about a year later but spots on face are getting worse - huge, itchy, lumpy, shiny, red/purple bumps that last for weeks. Now trying benzamycin before heading back to dermatologist for roaccutane, which is the best stuff ever (no side effects except dry skin/lips - easily fixed with moisturiser and lip balm) but I'm obviously one of the unlucky few for whom roaccutane doesn't zap spots permanently.

Pros:

Cleared all spots from face back and chest, skin less oily, boobs bigger, higher sex drive.

Cons:

Have put on some weight.

I've been useing dianette for years lost count to be honest but probably about 7 or so. I noticed the difference pretty quickly with regards to it clearing up my skin. I would say the only negative aspect has been weight gain but I couldnt be sure thats from dianette to be honest. I've never had headaches or any of the other negative symptoms other people have described. I've stopped taking it a few times to see what would happen as obviously I dont want to take this forever but within a month I've got really greasy skin and spots returning, and my period pain is crippling, feel moody and down. I've decided I'm going to stay off it for longer 3 months and see if those problems regulate themselves.

Pros:

Clearing up of acne

Cons:

Slightly more emotional

Since my last message, I have now been on Dianette for a full 4 months and am now seeing an improvement which is such a relief. I haven't really had too many side effects - just a bit more emotional that usual (I'll cry at anything!) a my breasts a slightly bigger. There's still a way to go, but I'm hoping that in another couple of months I'll be totally clear. Really looking forward to being able to go out without make up. I'm considering using a sun bed to clear up the red marks left by old spots, but maybe I should just stick it out as they do fade naturally. I will report back in a couple of months - hopefully with continued good news. I would recommend this pill to anyone considering it - as long as you're not prone to depression. I think it's worth a try and sticking with for at least 4-6 months... you have to give these things time to work. Good luck to everyone battling with acne!

Clear skin but side effects
Within two weeks my skin was completely clear, I no longer had extremely oily skin, my hair was a lot less greasy and I could go much longer without washing it! Was on it for a year and a half. However: 1. I started getting diarrhea every period (I had never previously before had it in my life!) and this was triggered by anything unhealthy/fatty so I had to really watch what i'd eat on my period. Came off the pill and haven't had it since. 2. After about 8 months to a year I started getting hot flushes more and more, I was putting it down to nerves but it got to the point where I was having 10-20 hot flushes everyday and my face was going bright pink- very embarrassing. Came off the pill and within 2 days they stopped completely. Overall I would recommend it for short term use

Helps

Pros:

Improves skin!
I didn't experience any side effects (although some do)

Cons:

Doesn't reduce oil production
Didn't clear up all my acne (note why I'm now on Accutane)

I took Dianette for over 8 months (I actually still take it now but in conjunction with Accutane). It helped improve my skin considerably, If you're on it now then have patience, it took about six months to really kick in.
