Pros:

Clear Non-Oily Skin
Bigger Boobs
Hair Less Greasy

Cons:

Scared Of Possible Side-Effects

When I first started taking Dianette I began getting spots around my chin and nose where I had never gotten them before but this has since cleared up. The only thing it didnt do was clear up scarring but for this my doctor prescribed a wonderful peeling gel called Isotrexin. Red scars are now a distant memory. However the booklet that accompanies the pill is pretty scary and my only worry with this treatment would be long-term side effects my doctor described and what will happen when I come off it. Time will tell but for now I would definitly recommend this treatment for anyone who has tried and tested every other means possible of clearing their acne...

Pros:

Has reduced spots, oil production and dont sweat as much

Cons:

Hasnt had much affect on stopping spots on my back
Mood Swings
Tiredness

The pill is good if you suffer from spots and want to make you feel better about yourself. Most creams, face washes on the market are useless no matter what length of time you use them for. I cant cope with heat and since being on this pill i dont sweat as soon as i start to feel hot. My skin is no way near as oily and it now shows that i wash each day!! I can be more moody but i am aware of it and try to control it to the best of my ability, looking at all of these reviews everyone moans how it makes them moody but you cant blame it all on the pill. It is down to self control to!! i can feel tired but mostly when im due for my pill free week. I certainly would recommend it, however i have recently been advised by my local pharmacy its no longer registered as a contraceptive pill. time to go back to the doctors and find another pill!!!

Pros:

Cleared skin completely
Lost weight (about 5 lbs which stayed off for the 5 years I was taking it)
Light periods, no PMT

Cons:

Cellulite
Visible veins under skin
Coming off it can be a serious problem

This worked beautifully the first time I tried it and I enjoyed flawless skin for 5 years. Also the ability to eat whatever I liked while remaining a uk size 6/8. However, coming off it for me was one of the typical horror stories. Acne like never before, even down my chest, stomach and arms. Sudden growth of thick black body hair. Sudden weight gain especially around middle. And to make matters worse it didn't really work the second time around and now I'm too scared to come off it again for fear of what will happen to my body. But the first time I was on it I had little troublesome side effects and it worked on my skin amazingly. I'm not sure it's worth the risk, but who knows whether the Dianette caused these problems for me, or whether they'd have happened anyway and the pill was blocking the symptoms.

Pros:

consistently clear skin on my face but had little effect on my back/shoulders

Cons:

more breakthrough bleeding than other pills I have tried, weight gain, thee most AWFUL moods, tantrums, lows...you name it!

I took this pill briefly a few years ago and I somehow decided it would be a good idea to go back on it. How wrong could I be! I didn't realise that the mood swings, clinginess, laziness that ruined the relationship I had at the time might be partly attributed to this drug. Now I realise it was most definately a factor. I have been taking this drug again for the last two months. During this time I have struggled to get out of bed before the afternoon (and I am usually very active). My breasts have become uncomfortably huge and hurt like they have been bruised. Myself and my boyfriend have also seen a horrible change in my personality - I'm lazy, irrational, argumentative, I overeact, I cry loads...I could go on for days. That is why I will not be taking any more of these pills, the doc put me on Yasmin instead, just reading some reviews on it, doesn't sound much better!

Pros:

clears skin up fast and effectively but takes a while to kick in

Cons:

Mood swings, a little weight gain, slight loss of libido sore boobs,

I've suffered from severe acne since about age 13 (I'm 22 now) and tried literally EVERYTHING under the sun before coming across dianette. I was on it for a year at 19 and I can honestly say my skin was never better. It took about three months to start clearing but by the end of the year my skin was clear and I didn't need to wear concealer when I left the house for the first time since I was 12! I was pissed off when I had to come off it because of the risks my doctor had told me about and since then was on Ovranette, Marvelon and finally cileste which helped out my skin but wrecked my libido. I came off the pill this summer and after about 4 months my skin was TERRIBLE, sore and red and angry and about as bad as it was when I was 14. My doc put me straight back on dianette and I've been on it ever since. So far its working really well but I'm so terrified of coming off and dealing with awfull acne again!

Pros:

cleared up skin, I'm not a mom

Cons:

slight increase in moodiness, slight increase in cellulite on upper legs

I have been on Dianette now for over one year; i first started using it when I was abroad as it is not available in the U.S. I had horrible acne on my face and body for over 14 years. Nothing had worked. Dianette took a good four months to truly work and for me to feel normal on it but these last eight months have been wonderful. I have sex frequently and have not noticed a change in my sex drive; if anything, I feel sexier and more interested in sex than ever before. I have not gained any weight but I have noticed that I have a bit of stubborn cellulite (I'm thin) on my upper legs. Every month there is one day where I feel completely upset and out of control for no good reason. This day is now marked on my calendar. One bad day is worth 29 days of acne-free bliss.

It has helped clear the acne that was on my forehead but my chin can look disgusting some days with huge whiteheads that are sore to touch:( I have been using dianette for a year now and I dont feel it has cleared my acne for good.. still have a long way too go hoping that once the summer is over i might see an improvement!! As its soo hot and humid at the moment its not helping my skin and I have had a couple of flare ups but im being patient and will give it another year then see what happens..

Pros:

regulates periods. lessens period pain and heaviness.

Cons:

no change in excess hair. hasn't cleared acne significantly at all. weight gain.

I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 17 after struggling with my skin for a long time and becoming increasingly embarassed with body and facial hair in 'unfeminine' places. It wasn't diagnosed as such at first due to the fact I was very thin and was obviously overlooked. But since I've been on it I've put on a stone and had a dramatic increase in appetite and I almost feel like my metabolism has given up! What's more there is no noticable diminishing hair or acne, despite good beauty regimen on top of that. On the plus side my once extremely irregular, painful and long periods are now a breeze. But - I'm considering coming off it. Can anyone reccommend anything else? Yasmin was ineffective. I might just let nature take its course after all! Anyone else had no good skin effect after a year?

Pros:

Cleared up skin a huge amount, doubles up as a contraceptive, free as it's a contraceptive

Cons:

nausea, migraines, depression, sore breats, numbed mood, total lack of sex drive.

If acne is taking over you life then this pill works absolute wonders for your appearance. However I have never taken it without experiencing strong side effects, from constant nauseau during the first year which then subsided and was replaced by frequent migraines in the second and numbed mood and depression if the third which all disappeared when I stopped taking the pill. The pill will take 3 months to start working, and gives me way more confidence than before and great skin; 70% fewer spots (although because I have such incredibly low moods whilst taking the pill I rarely want to leave the house anyway!). It's worth weighing up the pros and cons.
