Dianette : Oral Contraceptive

Have only taken this for one month but have gained 4 lbs despite increased exercise and dieting and skin hasn't improved so going back to Yasmin

The bad far outweighs the good here - We're talking bad bad bad depression. It might be worth trying but be very careful and stop if you start to have mood problems.

COULD ANYONE LET ME KNOW HOW LONG IT ROUGHLY TAKES FOR DIANET TO TAKE EFFECT WITH CLEARING UP YOUR SKIN? X

I've been on this drug for 6 months and at first I just gained weight and my hair stopped falling out (which was good). I was quite thin 38 kg (though I do have PCOS)and am now about 48 kg. I have had rapid weight gain on my bumb, hips and stomach in the last two months. My skin has cleared a little but it's still 'problem' skin. I have noticed no change in body/face hair growth. I will speak to my doctor about another treatment because if I continue to expand at this rate I'll be enormous, plus all the symptoms of skin/hair have not gone away. Also dianette takers are at risk of VTE - a heart attack caused by blood clot basically - make sure your doctor knows your family history of vte etc before taking drug., and increased chances of depression - make sure your doctor is aware of your risk of this pr. check the web. It's hard to say if you should take it. When you're skin is really bad (and painful!) you want relief. Keep asking your doctor for other treatments/ drugs.

i've been on dianette since i was 15 and acne clear up witin weeks, i tried everythin and this is the only method that worked!! I had nearly perfect skin for the whole time i was takin dianette but stopped takin it coz wanted to lose some weight and within 3 months my skin was worse than ever!! i've now started agin on the dianette has only been a week so haven't really seen a change but will let write again to say the time span in which it took!

I HAVE HAD MILD ACNE FOR 8 YEARS AND TREIED MANY CREAMS AND ANTIBIOTICS. BUT NOW AM DEPRESSED AS ITS BEEN SO LONG. THE BOTTOM LINE IS I WANT TO BE AND FEEL BEAUTIFUL. IM DEPRESSED WHEN I BUY LOADS OG CLEANERS, TONERS, EXPENSIVE FOUNDATIONS TO PREVENT AND HIDE MY ACNE. ENOUGH WAS ENOUGH, SO I STARTED ON DIANETTE. JUST COMPLETED 2 MONTHS OF TAKING DIANETTE. HAVEN'T NOTICED ANY CHANGE ON MY FACE, CHEST, BACK. THE DOCTOR TOLD ME THAT YOU WILL START SEEING CHANGES FROM 3 TO 6 MONTHS. SO I WILL KEEP GOING TIL THE END OF THE 6TH MONTH AND IF NO CHANGE WILL STOP AND GO FOR AN ALTERNATIVE. I WILL NOT TRY RO-ACCUTANCE AS THERE ARE MORE SERVERE SIDE EFFECTS THAN DIANETTE. WILL COME BACK AFTER 6 MONTHS OF USING AND GIVE YOU GUYS AN EVALUATION.

I was on this pill for 8 years as my body doesn't like lower dose pills. The thing was I never went on it for acne but when I came off it I had the worst breakouts ever - for a good 2 to 3 years. Sore blind pimples, smaller whiteheads - everything... it was mainly the blind ones that hurt. I know of 3 or 4 other people that exactly the same thing happened too. I will never go on it again as the pain of the pimples was too much. My skin finally cleared up but I got scarring. I tried all sorts of treatments, naturopaths etc (apart from roaccutane) and nothing cleared it apart from Proactiv - but saying that it was a fair while on from stopping the pill when I used it so it could have finally been out of my body

I would definately not go on dianette long term, i have only been on it 4 months and seriously conidering stopping after this pack.

I started taking Diane 35 in Spain as I had really bad skin when I was 21, I went to the dermatologist and he gave me this and something called Androcur to work together. It took abour 3 months to clear out using an strong exfoliator as well. It was like that until I came to England and the GP told me to stopped that medication, after some argument eventually I did and she gave me Loestrin, now I have spots in back, chest, and face, I'm not happy but she won't give me my prescription. I will try to change to Yasmin or Marvelon. We will see!
