Pros:

Are there any?

Cons:

Stomach pain
Dizziness
Heart palpitations
Hunger pangs
Depression

I don't know why my GP gave me these tablets, because they're not the go-to for acne and there are much better drugs out there geared specifically for it. The oral form is erythromycin is basically something best avoided - possibly the worst drug out there, and I know I'm not the only one who thinks this. Apart from causing crippling stomach pain, hunger pangs, dizziness, heart racing and depression, it doesn't really do anything helpful. These are all symptoms that are apparently very common, so someone please tell me why has this medication has not been taken off the market?

Pros:

got rid of blackheads in my nose completely
help get rid of most of my acne

Cons:

it is too pasty, hard to apply all over face, hard to take it off in the morning, my skin was dried and flaky for the first month, then it was ok.

I recommend it. My doctor told me it takes 3 to 6 months until my skin clears up completely and so I used it for a whole year. It did work for me, I had to stop buying it because I couldn't afford more treatment, and acne came back to how it was before the whole treatment. I used it with differin after letting the Erythromycin dry for 15 minutes (didn't wash it off,) let it all night and washed it off the next morning. If you can afford it and your doctor prescribes this medication, use it, but be patient as it takes sometimes 6 months for your skin to clear up completely (depends on your type of skin, severity of acne...) You might breakout more the first week or so. It is normal, all the bacteria inside your skin is getting out. After those zits come out, the treatment should start working. Good luck!!!

Pros:

Cleared my 'gram negative folliculitis' within a few days. Taken on a 2month course.

Cons:

Came back a few weeks after treatment.

If it comes back after treatment then whats the point.

Pros:

Great, clears skin, best used as a topical. Very cheap!

Cons:

If you apply too much topical (the more, the better though), it can make your face shiny/sticky. So don't apply as much in the morning.

Get the solution, not the pill. The pill can wreak havoc on your digestive system. The solution is awesome though.

Pros:

Clears skin about 25%, and reduces how badly the cystic acne can get, but does not prevent breakouts.

Cons:

Erythromycin taken orally can cause build-up of plaque and yellowing of the teeth, although not permanently. It also causes GI upset, and can affect blood sugar levels.

I have been taking 500mg twice a day for almost 30 days for acne and perioral dermatis, and there is not been much of a noticeable difference in my skin. I continue to have breakouts and although the cystic acne flare-ups are not as severe I am continuing to have them. I am also using topical clindamycin lotion and trentinoin every other day, which is not improving my skin either. I am allergic to tetracycline and drugs or cleansers containing sulfates, so right now I am at a crossroads on what to do to improve my skin. I have adult onset acne, and have had clear skin all of my 40 years, so this is quite discouraging.

Pros:

USED ANTIBIOTICS. it did really help my skin; after about 5 weeks, i could see a significant difference. redness went down a lot.

Cons:

the big marks went down but i still have lots of little spots. i've had 2 big outbreaks and the raised spots seem to be coming back, so i think my body must just be getting immune to it.

good, but we'll see after 12 weeks .. maybe this is just a bad week.

Pros:

Works, colorless.

Cons:

Applicator drips! Slow improvement.

Okay, so I use the 2% solution. I'm 14, and I used to only get 1 pimple a month, then in October, my skin got really bad. My doctor first put me on Tazorac and Benzoyl Peroxide 5% Wash, and it cleared my forehead, but I still had some on my cheeks. So, she prescribed me amoxillan 500 mg and Erthromycin 2% solution, and told me to keep using the Benzoyl Peroxide face wash, and it's been working slowly, but my skin is almost back the the way it was! No side affects, really, and yeah. I would recommend it, and it's really cheap if you have insurance.

Pros:

I have used it for a month and I have seen an improvement in the amount of new pimples but the improvement has only been about 15% so far and im guessing its full effects have not come in yet.

Cons:

the first few days I had an upset stomach and diarrhea.

not to much improvement in a month but since its only been a month i cant say if its really good or not. Oh yeah my body acne has gone down by about 25% but I also started a neutragena body scrub the same time i started this. My parents dont have a prescription plan or whatever its called so its pretty expensive if you dont have that

Pros:

Cleared up back and chest acne amazingly and quickly (it only took about 1 month), I had previously tried using Neutrogena Acne Body Wash but it didn't do squat. So I was really thankful when my doctor prescribed topical Erythromycin for my body.

Cons:

Doesn't seem to be working as well for my face; it's still red and bumpy. I still break out. Don't seem to get any more whiteheads but doesn't work on blackheads.

Try it if you have facial or body acne, its worth a try. Use the topical kind, it hasn't given me any bad side effects at all. I don't know why it worked on my back but not my face.

Pros:

Seems to work well on the main 'cheek' area of the face.

Cons:

Needs to be used with benzol peroxide as does nothing for blackheads. Does not work on neck, back, forehead. Personally..i think im slow to respond to it. Progress is slow. Difficult adapting to light changes (dark to light). I've had chest pains.

Would not recommend it. Feel like i shouldn't have gone on it (6 months into it) as scared of coming off and flaring up worse than before.
