Clear skin for the first time in 6 years
I started on limecycline after years of never having even a day of clear skin and then a sudden attack of very severe acne, at first it got rid of the majority of larger breakouts but gave me loads of tiny bumps which wouldn't go away. However, I persevered and 4 months on I have completely clear skin. I still get the odd one here and there but they disappear within a day. Before this I tried everything you could think of and now I am confident without makeup and my self esteem has been completely rescued. I could not recommend this more.

Highly recommend
Having never had any spots before, I was confused when at the age of 20 I started breaking out badly on my forehead. The doctor told me it was acne and prescribed me Tetralysal in January 2015. I took it for 4 months. Now 6 months later, I am acne free. I do get the odd blemishes but not like before. Tetralysal has worked great for me. I highly recommend.

After 2/3 weeks my skin is CLEAR!!!
I'm 19 years old, I've never had severely bad acne, was put on a few topical treatments when I was around 13 because I was uncomfortable having bad skin at this age, these treatments did the job I guess.. Stopped being on any treatment around the age of 16, and hadnt been on any until about 3 weeks ago when I had this sudden outbreak which was so random, never had anything like it, all my forehead was red and bumpy, and I had dozens of tiny pimples across my chin, up towards my ears and down my neck, it was horrible, and ITCHY!!! I assumed it must have been an allergic reaction to something but I couldn't think what, also prickly heat crossed my mind.. After roughly a week of this irritation I went to the doctors, and he assured me it was acne, I was really surprised because I really didn't think it could be acne, just because of the nature of the pimples and because I've never had it this bad before. He prescribed me with lymecycline to take 1 tablet a day, he also prescribed me with differin 0.1% topical gel (galderma), and antihistamines.. I've been on all 3 prescriptions for about 2/3 weeks and my skin is CLEAR!!!! Obviously had the odd 1 or 2 pimple but all the ones on my neck have completely gone, none on my cheeks, as I type this, at this moment in time I have 1 on my forehead, and 1 on my chin.. But who can complain about that?! I'm not sure which prescription has worked the magic but I really recommend these tablets plus the differin gel!!! No side effects/ complications.. I've been prescribed the course of lymecycline for 2 months, so I will see what happens after I stop taking them, but fingers crossed!

Hey, I'm quite close to going off lymecycline, and so far it has fully cleared up my skin- I'm just really scared to go off it :c Did your acne come back?? I'm sorry I know this was posted like 8 years ago 😭

great so far!
I don't have severe acne at all, but have always had at least half a dozen spots on my face at a time. Recently my spots had been becoming more deep and painful, so I got prescribed lymecycline capsules (UK) by my GP. I've only been taking them for ten days and I've only had one new spot in the last week! I do admit I have been touching my face a lot less and being more gentle, but I really believe this has had a part to play. My forehead used to be covered in small bumps in addition to spots and these have also completely gone. I'd definitely recommend to people who have similar skin to me!

Loved it
Was on this antibiotic for around 6 months, my acne was completely gone! Had no unbearable side effect but sometimes felt a little nausea but nothing to bad. Been off it for two months now until I was put on the combined pill microgynon for having very irregular periods. One week taking this my acne has suddenly flared up all over my chin (where was my prime area before hand). I have been too the doctors today and am coming off this pill and going to start taking tetralysal again and I am preying that it will work wonders again! Has anyone that has tried it again had any hope? and how long did it take

Pros:

It works well, takes a while but get much better results with this rather than using over the till stuff.

Cons:

Sometimes it makes your tummy feel abit weird.

It is great, especially if you live in the UK because it is free with the NHS, just go to your doctor and they will give you 2 months supply, after 2 months if you still have spots go back to your doctor and he will give you as many 2 months supplys as it takes.

Pros:

- On prescription, so free for me
- COMPLETELY CLEARED my bad acne
- Easy to take (one pill a day)

Cons:

- Not enough on it's own ( still got to wash face twice daily and prescribed alongside Benzoyl peroxide cream)
- Had an unsettled stomach since around the time I started the antibiotics, I'm not sure if it's connected but I'm back to normal if I eat those pro-biotic yoghurts

Before I had severe acne, with a permanent scattering of spots and scars across my forehead, chin, cheeks around my nose and on my shoulders. I've had acne for around 5 years and tried so many of the products off the highstreet (Freederm, Neutrogena, Simple, Oxy, Witch, Clean and Clear, Nivea, Clearasil, Amie, Clinique, Good things, Liz Earle, Garnier, T-zone to name those I can remember) with minimal success. My acne actually steadily worsened from the age of 12 to 17. Eventually went to see the doctor and was prescribed Tetralysal alongside Benzoyl peroxide cream Panoxyl 10% . The effect was not immediate, but over 2 months I stopped getting new spots and the acne slowly cleared. I have now been on the prescription for 9/10 months. I do not have a single spot - at most I get one at my time of the month. Although at first I applied the BP cream religiously and went through the adjustment phase with dry peeling skin, I now use only it occasionally, because even though I've moved down to 5% it is still very harsh and my skin is fine without. I am absolutley over the moon with these antibiotics and just wish I had gone to the doctor's earlier.

Pros:

no side effects
worked!! but i still have 1-3 spots now and again

Cons:

nothing!

this was the 1st box of antibiotics i used and its pretty good! probably started seeing the effects after a week and it improved after long use. after using it for atleast a year, my skin was almost clear, though i would still have a few odd spots here and there. But i would definitely recommend this product. My brother also used this for probably a year and his skin is completely flawless!he hasn't been taking the antibiotics for a few years now and he's still going strong! so yeah, give this a try!

Pros:

-It works well for me - result in 3rd week
- it's once a day
- no bad side effects

Cons:

Sometimes I get little itchy rushes on neck, chest or back. They last a while in the morning but fade away until the evening.

I had moderate acne and damaged skin because of picking spots. After a month my skin is clear and the pigmentation is fading away. What I also do is this: take a capsule, open it and mix the substance with Vitamin E cream in a small container. Put on spots only when you see them coming. That helps me with the pain, redness and make them heal faster, they just dry out. If you have very oily skin use Salicylic Spirit instead of cream. You can also use Tetracycline capsules. Have a break every 2-3 months, because the skin becomes resistant. During the breaks use Differin at night - it helps a lot with blackheads but take a month or two to work and the first two weeks it makes acne worse. If you don't want to use Differing, you can use Skinoren (Azeliac Acid) during the day. Itches a bit but works very well for some people. Note: If have dry/very dry skin none of these is recommended. You're skin will start cracking and peeling. Only use on bad painful spots!
