How long have you been on isotretinoin? I would like to share my personal experience here. Even I was on isotane for about 3 months due to severe acne, I agree that it works wonderfully but the side effects are a nightmare for me it severely affects the tendons and its a known issue while on isotane. I was on rest for 3 whole months because my tendons got affected horribly, and I couldn't even move my left hand and right ankle. My doc couldn't figure out what is the issue. I had to go through a very tuff time in my life. I took so many blood tests and x-rays still nobody could figure out. Meanwhile, my husband had read a few articles about this horrific medicine and its side-effects we got a small hint about it. Still, I was not ready to give up. As the days passed by my situation had become worst finally, we decided to visit another dermatologist she is the best. The moment shared my experience with her she asked me why did I do a hell lot of tests? isotane causes tendonitis and its a known issue she said I don't have to think twice. I should give up. I gave up and my hand and ankle back to normal after a few weeks. After all, it's my personal experience I don't how it will work for others. Hope it will work for you without any naughty things:) Anyway, I am going to start lymecycline and see how it works for me. Thanks

Bad
When I first starting taking Lymecycline I had bad side effects, which included nausea and diarrhoea. I started questioning whether the severity of side effects were worth it. I've been taking Lymecycline for around 7 months now, at first after around 2 months my acne began to clear, my acne has never been too bad. However, they did not stay away for long and never went completely. My acne then came back aggressively and is now very sore and much worse then they use to be. I now get them on my back, quite badly and I've only ever had the odd one or two there. In my opinion lymecycline is not an effective acne treatment, as your body and immune system seems to familiarise itself with the antibiotic and stops it working. Now I'm left feeling even more conscious of my skin.

More spots
Hi, I'm wondering if anyone can give me any hope for the Lymecycline, I have been on it for 4 weeks now for mild acne. Just over a week now I have really bad spots come up on my chest, neck and shoulders which I never suffered with this severe. My face hasn't improved if anything got slightly worse. The Dr has just said persevere with it! I'm regretting going on these tablets as I was hoping they would either work or not work not make me a lot worse! Can anyone tell me if they've suffered in the same way and what have you done? What would happen if I decided to stop taking them would the chances of the new spots going be slim? Look forward to some advice.

Just doesn't do anything!
Took this antibiotic for four months, and never reduced my breakouts. However, this is probably due to the fact i'm 99.9% certain mine is fully hormonal, so therefore if your acne is bacterial it may work for you! I am now proceeding with Dianette the contraceptive pill. But please, if your female and your breakouts are hormonally linked don't waste your time with this antibiotic

Side Effects Became Unbearable
I have been on this antibiotic in my teens (I am now in my 20s) and it was somewhat effective at treating my teenage, typical T-zone acne (although what eventually cleared me up was Erythromycin topical.) I was prescribed a 3 month course of Lymecycline not long ago because my acne had come back in a big way. I don't really trust antibiotics as I know they are quite a temporary solution to the problem of acne, but willing to try anything I proceeded with my dose. I got to week 3 before the cramps in my abdomen were worrying enough for my to stop (after seeing no change in my acne.) Antibiotics mess up your gut flora, something I am very prone to, and eventually the bad outweighed the good. An imbalance in your gut flora can lead to acne in the first place so proceed with antibiotics with caution. A bit of a disappointment overall but worth a try if topical's are not working for you!

Didnt work

Pros:

no side effects that i noticed

Cons:

acne worsened

After seeing my doctor they said i had minor acne and that tetralysal lymecycline would clear it up in a matter of 2 -3 months. I have now been using it for nearly 6 months without missing any days and not only hasnt it cleared it has started to break out in places i never used to get it . This antibiotic isnt cheap either (well for me) so i feel quite decieved by my gp as iv wasted time and money on a useless product. This might just be for me but if you do try it and dont see any positive results i recommend canceling your prescription. :)

Didn't work for me

Pros:

None :/

Cons:

Breakout of humongous painful spots on back and face
Thrush symptoms

I came off Erythromycin as it wasn't working fully and was prescribed lymecycline by my doctor who told me that lymecycline should work above and beyond Erythromycin. Unfortunately 1 week in my skin started to get worse, I had an increase in large painful spots appearing firstly on my back, and then by week 3 on my face. Huge spots on my forehead and chin! I am 23 and have suffered from moderate acne since I was about 13 but I have never had spots so large appearing on my face. I went back to my doctor today after having taken Lymecycline for a full month, he seems baffled as to why Erythromycin was at least partially helpful but the Lymecycline worsened my condition. He has now prescribed me Trimethoprim which is from a different family of antibiotics all together- so I guess I will see how that goes! Overall this antibiotic did not work for me, but that doesn't mean it doesn't work for everyone.

This drug is dangerous STAY AWAY !!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

None

Cons:

This drug will kill you eventually
Severe case of colitis which leads to many many other life threatening problems.
Excruciating pain within digestive system, gastroenteritis and many more problems.

I was given this Dangerous drug for a bacterial infection in the UK and after 8 months of use there was absolutely no change. Apart from developing severe colitis and loosing up to a pint of blood daily , excruciating stomach cramps and possible cancer. These drugs that are made in labs are killing people daily and doctors are fully aware of it I have since got my colitis in remission with NO DRUGS AT ALL and no help from any medical "professional". It's all about diet people. Wake up and ignore your doctor for good health.
