Works.
Put an ice cube in a paper towel and hold it on a really big zit for 5 minutes and the puffiness and swelling is all gone. Redness will still be there, but there will no longer be an enormous bump on yo face.

sorry this is a bit of a late reply and you might not even be suffering anymore but if you are I couldn’t recommend duac more, it is prescribed by the doctor though! It has benzoyl peroxide in it and it really helped me with my acne! Also cleansing & moisturising everyday and exfoilating twice a week

Something I'd recommended!
For a whole week I've been rubbing ice on my face and seriously it has helped a lot! Now before I get any hopes up I "suffer" from light but almost moderate acne. So the ice helped with reduced the redness and helped with "shrinking" some pimples. I keep blabbering so just read below to see what I do: After washing my face with my face wash I rub ice on my face in circular motions, concentrating mostly where my acne and scars are. I use two cubes of ice. Now people here say not to rub ice on your face directly because its bad or whatever but by the time I've washed my face, gone to the toilet & brushed my teeth its pretty much melted. So yeah that's pretty much it, I wouldn't have made an account just to review this if it hadn't of worked on me. Just test it out for a month and see if it helps you. good luck x (P.S can someone recommended me a good face wash to use for acne so far I've used Nutrogena, Nivea and a few others I forgot)

I either use : acnefree : or : nozxema : for my face wash. They both work really well.

Try it ! Worth it ! Great before a day out !
This helps as it calms down irritations which causes the redness. Also this can kill the bacteria in the pours stopping break outs. However this will only work if you keep the skin clean and avoid touching your face as coldness open your pours meaning more germs can get in so try no to touch your face. Then just before you go to bed put you face it Luke warm water to close the pours and you should see an improvement in redness and the size of the pimples

Correct me if i am wrong.....hot water opens the pores and cold water closes it.I have been through a lot of articles on acne and this is what i have read throughout.

you're wrong,, warm or hot water opens your pores while cold water closes it,,

True ,when I ice my face, the ice melts pretty fast due to body heat. My face feels really tight and firm after this. So yeah....ice tightens your pores to prevent dirt and bacteria from getting in them.

Pros:

-reduces swelling
-reduces redness temporarily
-kills developing pimples really fast!

Cons:

Dries my skin, but other than that nothing much
Also, this may not be as effective for severe acne where the lesions are deep in the skin.
Plus I have heard from some that icing constricts blood vessels on your face which reduces blood circulation and hence reduces healing.(so I usually mainly do spot treat)

I just started using ice on my face the last week or so as a spot treatment. I have mild-moderate acne and I found that using ice on developing pimples really kills it fast. What I do is I take an ice cube from the freezer and place it gently on any developing bumps that I know are emerging zits. I hold it at each of them for about 20 seconds and then just gently glide the remaining ice on my whole face in circular motions. Areas under your eyes are sensitive so I try to avoid those parts. And immediately after using ice, I find that the bump is very much diminished and are already disappearing instead of continuing to emerge. The immediate effects are astonishing! I was quite surprised at how it was so fast! Definitely recommended to stop zits from developing but do be aware that you shouldn't put ice at one place for too long as ice can burn your skin! If you really need to, give your skin a break first between icings. Yeap, good luck! (:

Pros:

~ Cheap and easy to do
~ Reduced my pore size significantly
~ Calms irritated skin
~ Decreases acne over time

Cons:

~ Cold (somewhat painful even)
~ It's not a cure for acne, obviously

There may be an additional effect for your skin if you use tea instead of tap water. Try using camellia tea (or any other tea with anti-microbial properties). Also, holding the icecubes in place for a while, works best for problem areas as I've found out. I definitely recommend atleast trying this.

Pros:

-reduces pimple size
-helps releive pain (from those nasty, painfully swollen undergrounders)
-If you do it before a zit comes to a head, it'll be shorter lived and will go away faster

Cons:

-really cold!
-won't clear acne, just helps deliver relief from those big zits.

I have combination skin, with mild-moderate acne. Probably more like mild... not sure. Weeell. Whenever I feel a zit coming in, I hold an ice cube wrapped in a napkin (so it isn't TOO cold) onto my face. It really helps reduce swelling and pain in undergrounders (you know, those really big red bumps that sometimes don't come to a head, but hurt soooo bad). This won't get rid of or prevent acne, just help with pain and swelling.
