ehh
I would give this cleanser a 3/5 for me just because it does what it says and nothing else, its nothing special. It does not remove my make up, maybe if you wore light make up it would get the job done. While on accutane this is a good choice because it is just so gentle and basic but I dont see myself using this after accutane. But it does contain Alcohol and parabens which is disappointing it seems like a good gentle product but the ingredients throw me of.

Disappointed (but not a complete loss)
I was really excited to use this product because of all of the reviews saying how amazing it is. I have tried this product a couple of times and each time i used it for about 1-3 months. I noticed that the product smells very strong and is very drying for my skin. All in all i give this product a 3 star because it does clean the skin but its too drying for me.

It's not the holy grail or the devil either.
Cetaphil didn't do anything to help my acne or make it worse. I hate the fact how it doesn't foam at all so I get this weird feeling it's not cleansing my face at all. I will say that it works better when you use it with a warm washcloth rather than just your hands but that's just me. :)

nothing special
here's probably a million people who love this product and a million who don't. For some strange reason, I'm sort of in-between, even though most dermatologists recommend this skin cleanser to the breakout-prone and sensitive-skin patients. I purchased a bottle of this (seems like it only comes in this huge bottle), applied some of its somewhat thick liquid to my face, massaged it in, then rinsed with water. My skin burned a tiny bit, but nothing too serious. Didn't seem to do any harm... but didn't fully take off all my makeup. It did, however, leave my skin feeling soft and moisturized afterwards, which felt great. It's a nice product for those who can't tolerate "soap" type of cleansers -- but for me, it was nothing special at this time.

genital but not effective
I can see why people really like this, but for me it isnt effective. i used it for a month and my break outs got worse. i have a very regimented skin care and i only swap out one thing at a time. i decided to give this a shot since everyone recommends it. it doesnt seem to pull all the oil off my face and after using it for a month my skin was just so oily trying to put make up on was difficult.

Pros:

doesn't leave skin dry
gentle on skin

Cons:

doesn't clear acne/scars
not cheap
face still feels dirty after usage

I just feel like it doesn't do much for my skin. After washing my face, it still feels a little oily and unclean. It really does not give my face that deep clean I'm looking for.

Good for dry/sensitive. Okay for oily skin in the AM.

Cetaphil Gentle is a non-lathering cleanser that does not strip your skin at all. However, really oily folks may not feel like their pores are getting a good enough clean. And makeup-lovers will definitely need to supplement this cleanser with a real makeup remover. With lighter makeup, though, you might be able to simply double-cleanse. Lastly, the texture is very thin and watery, so you have to use a lot, unlike thicker non-lathering cleansers like the Neutrogena Ultra Gentle Hydrating Cleanser. Overall, great for sensitive and dry skin! But for oily skin, it's probably better as a morning cleanser, when you're not cleaning off as much oil or daytime debris, pollution, etc. Side note: Some people seriously question Cetaphil's ingredients. Pros:

Very gentle!
Very easy to rinse off

Cons:

Doesn't foam
Doesn't remove makeup

I started using Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser about a month ago. I needed something gentle to use with the tretinion cream my doctor had prescribed for me. This cleanser is so nice and gentle! I love it! It doesn't foam at all (in fact, just feels like thick water), but I got used to that very quickly! My biggest con with this is that in order to remove my foundation and all that at night, I have to wipe with a wet wash cloth first, then wash my face twice. Usually during the second wash, I take my facial brush and scrub my face (gently, but firmly :] ) in order to remove the rest of the makeup. Plus the brush exfoliates which is a huge bonus. I love this this cleanser washes away super easily. You just splash your face a couple times and it's all gone. I hope you loves this just as much as I do!

Pros:

very, very light
gentle
non-irritating
no fragrance
no SLS; does not foam (which is good because that's strips and dries out skin)
i recently discovered a Canadian store brand (Life brand) that is only $10 per 200ml

Cons:

expensive ($20 per 500ml in canada)
contains alcohol
does not seem to clear acne

I love this product because it is the only cleanser I've tried that does not irritate my skin.. Although the lack of foaming action makes it a tad harder to apply, it does glide on fairly easily. I've noticed it to be the slightest bit drying, but moisturizer takes care of that. The cleanser does wonders for the parts of my face without acne (my acne is all in the t-zone, and on either side of my nose) but does not seem to clear (or worsen) my acne. BOTTOM LINE: This cleanser is not the best for acne, but it does not worsen or aggravate it. In terms of it's performance on the parts of my face without acne, I would give it 5/5 stars.
