dry out!
I decided to buy this cleanser because of the hype surrounding it claiming it's really gentle and great for sensitive skin. However, this cleanser dried out my face like crazy! It also led to me getting clogged pores due to my dry surface skin. Probably due to the sls that they use in it.

dried out skin and created a rash
used this before I started getting acne. TOTALLY dried out the skin AND gave me a horrible and irritating rash that was very inflammed. it did cleanse m face well before the rash and drying came, but it was probably one of the products that caused acne for me :(

Are you talking about the daily cleanser by Cetaphil?

Most products break me out. This doesn't. [Update: actually, it's not too great for me]
I'm a 28 year old male that has very sensitive skin. Between my teen years and to about 23 years old I had mild to moderate and fairly persistent acne. When I look back I think certain products (face washes bought at Boots etc) made it even worse. Anyway my skin started to clear up for the most part when I was 25. At the time I was using something called Nivea For Men - Sensitive Face Wash. The old formula (which has now apparently been discontinued in the UK; the new one is baaaaad) worked fairly well. I then moved to Pakistan for a while and discovered one of the best face washes I ever used which is known as 'Saeed Ghani Cucumber Face Wash'. I then moved back to the UK and so unfortunately it was no longer available. I then started using something called 'BioEnergy Aloe Vera Bath Gel'. This is in fact hands down the single best face wash (well, 'technically' a 'bath gel') I ever used in my life but unfortunately it was a hotel, single serving bath gel. Can you believe that? A simple hotel product was the best face wash I ever found, despite all the nonsense and marketing they have on mainstream OTC products. I tried going back to the Nivea for Men Sensitive Face Wash once the BioEnergy had finished but I learned that they had changed their formula and it broke me out. Dismayed, I tried a whole other bunch of products from shops and they all broke me out. Believe me, it wasn't just my skin being bad on its own, it was the products themselves. I even tried a product that gets recommended often: 'Olay Foaming Face Wash for Sensitive Skin' and that also broke me out. I didn't think anything was gonna work so I went back to plain old Palmolive soap. I don't break out with soap but the flipside is it makes my skin irritable and dry, all reddish looking. Not nice. So on a whim I decided to order Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser online and thank God it actually works. I've been using this product and since I've started I am again, at last, completely break out free. I don't think this product will take your acne away if you get it regardless of the products you use, but if your skin is anything like mine, it won't aggravate your skin and make it worse. My skin is dependent on the product entirely. Many things break me out but this one doesn't and so I'm finally clear again. There is one con however. I get a very very mild burning sensation when I use it in the shower. It's extremely mild but I do definitely get it. I still give this product five stars though because so many other crappy ones break me out so now that I've finally found something that works again it feels like a godsend. You should remember however that skin is very subjective, of course. Just because this worked for me doesn't mean that it will necessarily work for you. From my experience this is the third best face wash I've ever used. You can see them below: 1. BioEnergy - bath gel - aloe vera (Only available at some hotels!) 2. Saeed Ghani Cucumber Face Wash (Pakistan only) 3. Cetaphil Gentle Skin Cleanser 4. Nivea Sensitive Face Wash for Men (OLD formula only; discontinued in the UK) Hope this helps! Good luck! UPDATE: I'm sorry but it seems I kind of jumped the gun with this product. I see from the review that I wrote this on September 25th, and I've been using the product for a full month now. Unfortunately I also break out with this product. The reason why I was so amazed by it at first was because it was definitely an improvement on what I was using before it, but sadly I still break out with this, just not as much. I really wish i still had access to Saeed Ghani Cucumber wash or that amazing 'BioEnergy' hotel product. Oh well, back to the drawing board in search of something that works...

Feels super gentle, but.
This stuff feels gentle going on, no lather and no residue whatsoever. It really feels like putting a thin lotion on. I almost felt like it was TOO gentle. Afterwards though, my skin feels extremely dry (peeling in just a few minutes!). Be sure to follow up with a moisturizer if you use this.

Pros:

-Gentle
-No-fragrance
-(claims to be non-comedogenic)

Cons:

-made me breakout
-has sodium lauryl sulfate!!!!
-face didn't feel clean after

Sodium Lauryl Sulfate is a major skin irritant do not use facial cleansers with it! I would reccomend the Cerave Cleanser. My acne was pretty tame and i do suffer from sensitivity so I tried this and it made it sooo much worse. Word of advice spend more money on your diet the rewards are amazing.

Pros:

feels gentle on skin

Cons:

Doesn't clean my skin

After I washed my face using this cleanser I wiped my face with my toner on a cotton pad. Once I was done I found that the pad was covered with dirt and grime. (which never happened with my previous cleanser) Although this product feels refreshing and smooth, it doesn't clean my face.

Pros:

slightly reduced acne at first
moderately priced

Cons:

dried out skin
irritated skin
made skin a gross texture
full of chemicals

I'm in my late 20s. I have very sensitive combination skin, a lot of blackheads, and light to moderate acne, (with hyper-pigmentation that lingers on for a long time). I switched to Cetaphil after it was recommended to me by a friend, and I saw it had good reviews on this site. I used it for about 6 months every second day or so, and moisturised with aloe vera. The Cetaphil was fine when I only used it every second day; although it altered the texture of my skin and made it unpleasant and papery. After 6 months I decided to try a more regular regimen, and started washing my face with Cetaphil every day. I was very gentle, but it was too much for my skin. It made the dry patches dry and flaky, and my whole face became itchy. My skin looked aged. When I combined it with Cetaphil moisturiser it was even worse. I developed a bright red rash all over my face. I have given up and switched to a more natural product.

Pros:

It makes your face feel pretty clean

Cons:

Doesn't really do anything

It's a good wash if you don't have acne, or very little acne. I really saw no results although the r Cetaphil face wash for normal/oily skin is something I use till this day and actually works! So if this product isn't working for you, I totally recommend that one!

Pros:

-good to my skin, didn't leave it red
-didn't make my skin worse, but it didn't make it much better.

Cons:

-too thin, i felt the need to pile on the product
-does not clean pores well
-does not lather

Oh my goodness! Where to begin! I randomly started breaking out, suffering from white heads/really clogged pores. I had been using the same make up products for a long while before so i knew it wasn't the make up's fault. My skin was having issues on its own so i need something to sooth it. It seemed this product was my best bet. It also advertised how it clears make up out of pores so that sold me even more. So the first time I used it, it felt awkward because it wouldn't lather, but i just kept washing away with my hands. When I got to my astrigent step i was shocked! The cotton pad was BROWN. I had spent so much money and it didn't clean a thing! I later ended up washing my face with this (after all the money i spent on it, i wasn't going to buy another cleanser) using a little manual facial brush (created a little lather), and the duo caused my cotton pad to come out less brown.. but it was still brown. I'm still using the cleanser out of guilt because of the price, but i have to use a facial wipe before, and then the brush with it, so the cotton pad can come out with barely anything on it. BOTTOM LINE- it doesn't clear pores very well, if at all, on its own when washing with hands (ESPECIALLY IF YOU WEAR MAKE UP) With a brush its a little better. While using this cleanser, i rely on my astrigent. The astrigent is what ended up saving my skin.
