Slimy residue -- skip it
The high amount of Sodium Laureth Sulfate [it's about the third ingredient listed, which means the cleanser contains a LOT of it] leaves a slick, slimy film on your face, almost like saran wrap. Imagine what this is doing to your pores. It's not good for you. The high sulfate content also means it's quite drying, which means more acne in the long run [since dry skin = more oil produced to compensate]. Bottom Line: Don't buy any cleansers with ANY sulfates, especially Sodium Lauryl, since they leave a film all day and cause more acne.

love it
I used to have acne, mainly on my cheeks, and I never knew why I had it. When I started sleeping over at my boyfriends house and using his face wash ( which was Purpose) I noticed my face was clearing up. Ever since then I used Purpose every day and it does wonders. I don't even break out before my menstrual cycle.

Pros:

not harsh
VERY affordable
smells good

This cleanser is amazing!I am 24 and I am finally recovering from an intense 6 months of adult acne. Before I always had very clear skin. However, for some reason last July I got severe adult acne, and it wasn't just acne, it was cystic acne ALL over my face. One time I counted and I had over 20 blemishes/cystic acne spots on my face. It was terrifying and depressing. I spent over $300 on several face cleaners and acne treatments. I tried Aveda (gave me more acne), then all of the Philosophy products (worsened my acne by drying it out), then I tried several Neutrogena products (which dried out my skin because it was so harsh, and which gave me more cystic acne), and many more recommended products from Sephora (also didn't work). Then online I read about Purpose Gentle Cleansing Wash, and how amazing it is. I read reviews that sometimes it was so gentle that it didn't work so well for fighting off incoming acne, so I decided to buy a Clearsonic Mia, which everyone raves about. And now so do I! Using Clearsonic with the Purpose facewash has been a miracle! My acne has finally started to clear up! I have gone from 20 spots to 1! However, I didn't want to irritate my big acne spots with the Clearsonic brush, so I only used the Clearsonic on the parts of my face that didn't have big acne spots, this helped in reducing my large pores. Morning: 1)Rinse my face w/ lukewarm water, put 2 pumps of the Purpose cleanser in my hand and lather it in my hands for 5-10seconds, then I lather it on my face, W/O using the Clearsonic. 2) Then where I have cystic acne I put A LITTLE bit of cortizone 10 cream on them, to reduce the inflammation under the skin, and also to give extra moisture. 3) Then I use Neutrogena's Combination Skin moisturizer. Night: 1)Follow Morning's Step 1, 2) Put 2-3 pumps on the Clearsonic brush, don't use it on acne spots. (2 min) 2)Put very little bit of bp treatment on my danger zones, and on any acne spots. 3) Follow Mor

Pros:

SIMPLE
GENTLE
SOFT FEELING
CLEANSES SKIN VERY WELL

Cons:

NONE

I have been searching for a GENTLE cleanser that cleanses skin very well. Most gentle cleansers didn't clean my skin enough. I have super sensitive skin to top it off. I saw a review for this cleanser on youtube--I'm glad I took a chance with this product. It's so gentle, lathers nicely, leaves my skin feeling clean and so soft. And my skin wasn't irritated at all! If all you need is a cleanser, I say get this!

Pros:

-Removes makeup really well
-Doesn't strip skin
-Smells really good
-I only need to wash my face once with this at the end of the day.
-Doesn't irritate breakouts.

Cons:

Packaging is a little annoying because it leaks really easily. It leaked in the car on the way home from the store! Also if you leave it in the shower, water will get in.

I love this cleanser. Besides how clean it leavesdown the really bad break out I have on my skin. It doesn't really help get rid of acne, but it doesn't irritate it like many cleansers that are supposed to treat acne specifically do. I hope and pray they never discontinue this product because then I will have to start all over again!

Pros:

- Gentle
- Non-irritating
- Cheap
- Clean Scent
- Skin feels super clean after washing with Purpose

Cons:

NOTHING

I started using Purpose when my skin became really sensitive from RetinA & I LOVE IT! I wear a lot of make-up & it cleans it all off & does not leave a residue. It is so gentle & doesnt dry my skin. If you have sensitive skin or are on RetinA, I strongly suggest you use Purpose. It is cheap, you can get it at any CVS, supermarket, etc & it keeps my skin soft & supple!

Pros:

I love this face wash. Not only does it take off all the makeup I wear but it makes me skin feel very clean and healthy. This product is not harsh on my skin at all and works better than any other cleanser I've ever used. Smells good too!

Cons:

Kind of small for the price, lasts almost a whole month with two washings a day.

Awesome product. Best cleanser I've ever used and I would recommend it to anyone.

Pros:

Gets my face SUPER clean
Lathers up easily
Good for sensitive, DRY skin

Cons:

None

NEVER ON THE PRODUCT DOES IT SAY IT WILL TREAT, PREVENT, OR HEAL ACNE. It just says it will gently cleanse the skin. That being said it is a very good cleanser. It cleans of makup and dirt, and prepares me for my 10% benzoyl peroxide acne spot treatment. After a month or so of using this, my acne spot treatment and moisterizer twice a day, my acne has gone from moderately severe to very light!! LOVE IT!

Pros:

-gentle
-removes makeup well
-makes skin soft after use

Cons:

-bad packaging, water gets inside the bottle if you leave it in the shower.
-it leaks, I lost about a third of the cleanser because it got tilt over.
-doesn't remove completely my eye makeup(the makeup isn't water proof.
-it's a little expensive if you get it in drugstores.

try it. but i have to say that i have switched to Olay foaming cleanser for sensitive skin. i feel that the olay cleanser works even better than Purpose cleansing wash, because my eye makeup gets removed by using it. And Olay foaming cleanser sensitive is a lot more affordable. Still, both are good cleansers.
