Pros:

Cleared my face! Red marks fading slowly, smooth face, no more break outs.

Cons:

none

I take 2 Flaxseed Oil capsules, 1 morning and 1 at night with 50 mg of zinc. All I have now are redmarks left after acne. I also had an oily face but when I started using flaxseed it decreased the oiliness. Might help for people with the same condition. I use nature's made organic flax seed oil.

Pros:

No more acne!!! Seemed to help with my dry eyes a bit as well.

Cons:

None.

I am a twenty-eight year old female that has suffered from chronic, persistent acne since I was a teenager. I had tried numerous solutions (including two separate four month rounds of Accutane) all of which failed. I have also done an alternating series of six microdermabrasion treatments and six salicylic acid peels. These didn't help either. For me, acne only really occurred as a cluster of deep whiteheads on my cheeks resulting in a very bumpy texture. They were rarely inflammed. Sometimes these whiteheads (usually after picking and yes, I know I'm not supposed to but pushing the thick, white blockage out was the only thing that seemed to help) would turn nodular or cystic resulting in fortunately, only fairly mild scarring, but they always came back. I have been using three 1000mg gel tabs (two in the morning one at night) of flax oil per day for a few weeks and the all the bumps on my cheeks, even the deep ones are gone. I'm not saying this will work for everyone but it worked me

Pros:

Practically acne free when I stick to ground flaxseed daily. Skin is incredibly smooth and soft.
VERY easy to mix with smoothies (which means you can up your fruit intake as well!).
Many other beneficial properties (anti- cancer, inflammation

Cons:

Requires a lot of willpower to stick to it everyday.

This review is in regards to GROUND flaxseed. Although oil may contain more omega-3s, only ground flaxseed contains lignans (thought to decrease the risk of breast cancer) and other important nutrients. It is also very easy to mix with smoothies, cereal, breads, etc. I have moderate acne (although I am particularly prone to the cystic type - usually in mild doses). I have never found over the counter acne medications to do anything for me. When I stick to 1 tablespoon ground flaxseed per day, my acne virtually disappears. I find that my skin is very clear and soft. I also notice that I wear much less makeup - indicating that my skin is healthier with a natural "glow'. I attribute flaxseed's success to its ability to reduce inflammation. You MUST continue to take it. Recently I have gotten "lazy" and noticed a return of the cystic type acne. I will be resuming my flaxseed regimen to that I may once again enjoy healthy, natural looking skin.

Pros:

Cheap, my skin has more of a glow. My break outs are clearing up, and my scaring is also healing.

Cons:

The oil tastes pretty bad.

Overall, there isn't a reason that people shouldn't be taking this. There are numerous health benefits, and I know my skin is looking a LOT better since I've been taking it. You have to wait about a week or two to see the effects, though. Also, I would suggest taking the oil over any capsules. Two teaspoons of oil is equal to roughly 12 or so capsules. The oil tastes like crap, but it is well worth it to man up and take it. My skin is looking better now than I can ever remember!

Pros:

It completely got rid of my acne. I use the seeds which you need to grind up but they seem to be the most effective.

Cons:

Sorry I have to say this but the seeds make you poop like crazy. But its worth it.

I started taking flaxseed for my general health and noticed a decrease in my acne. It has helped me lose weight (I wasn't trying but I just noticed) and has so many health benefits. I recommend the ground up seeds because they seem to work the best but if you can't get your hands on those then try the capsules. Even if you don't have acne, you should be taking this. Also for my last eye exam, my horrible vision got a bit better and my doctor asked if I had been taking flaxseed oil because it helps.

This has been great for me. I just had a baby and have been battling with bad breakouts. I am breastfeeding so I wanted to use the most natural products. Not only has this almost cured my acne, it is suppose to benefit the baby when taken while breastfeeding. Even if it doesn't help your acne your skin will feel better. I also think there are too many benefits not to keep it in your diet.

For hormonal acne (Organic Ground Flaxseed)
My daily dosage: 3 tablespoons of Organic Ground Flaxseed. I struggled with severe depression and anxiety for 10 years. As you may know, having acne only made me feel worse. I took the pill and spironolactone and even though I had clear skin I wasn't happy. I knew I had hormone problems and recently I discovered I suffer from PMDD (Premenstrual Dysphoric Disorder) hence these terrible symptoms. I found out on the internet that Flaxseed mimics estrogens. After two months, my skin was great (didn't have break outs) and the best of all: I haven't been depressed. (I don't know if I have low or high estrogens, but it works on my imbalance). Also, I include a free dairy/coffee diet, lots of water, Spearmint tea, exercise and a facial routine. I don't know if it's good for all women but I definitely recommend it. In the case of men, I've heard that maca works better.

Pros:

*Permenantly reduced pore size
*Refined skin texture
*Reduces oil production.
*Cheap & Readily Available

Cons:

*May break you out if you take over RDA
*Will make eczema worst
*Will not work alone - must have a good skin regimen

I took a chance on this as I didn't want to go on any crazy overdose of other vitamins/minerals and was looking for something simple and cheap. The RDA for the (Holland & Barrett UK) cold pressed raw oil I had was 5ml twice daily. Advantages of taking the raw oil form is you can control how much you take. I estimated 10ml seemed a little too much for me (I'm only 5 foot 1 female) and from a little googling the level of phytoestrogen is the highest available in any foods (the second was tofu/soya bean). I took a small tea-spoon (not table-spoon), after dinner each night. The first 2 days my skin seemed more moisturised and my pores seemed to become smaller. After that it started to make my mild eczema worst (under my lips and chin, nose). I took this for a month and had to stop. My acne seemed to get just a little worst, but I was expecting this. So, I thought that was that, doesn't work for me and left it... Four months later after stopping, I have noticed after each monthly menstral cycle, my skin gets less and less acne, my pores have become more smaller, and overall my skin is alot better. The acne also takes less time to heal. Regimen: 1)Exfoliate with my old towel (its 6 years old & balanced to my skin and isn't hard or too rough), hot water, gently wipe dead skin, old blemishes. 2)Johnson & Johnson Gently Daily Scrub - wash off 3) Quinoderm Anti-Bacterial Facewash - only use a small penny size amount - this is great stuff and has reduced the severity of my acne too. Do Not Wash off Quinoderm - leave on 4)Neutrogena Visibly Clear 2 in 1 Wash/Mask - only on nose and cheeks - leave on. Do not use on eczema patches, will make it worst. Morning - brush teeth then wash off Night - have shower then wash off 5)BodyShop Aloe Vera Toner & Vitamin E Spray on cotton pad around face 6)BodyShop Vitamin E Moisturiser - only a little 7)Salcura Intensive Eczema Spray on eczema 8
