May work for some people...
But didn't work for me. Gave my very oily skin and hair. My scalp even broke out. I love eating fish but fish oil supplement is not for me.

Caused breakout
Had been using natural yoghurt as a face mask and taking omega 3 capsules for two weeks,, my skin cleared up massively and a lot of the redness and patchiness went away,, however after about two weeks my skin suddenly broke out with a lot of cysts and redness and is taking longer than usual to go away ,, would not recommend

may be doing you harm
I have been taking fish oil for a number of years to combat seborrheic dermatitis and joint pain from years of playing sport. It has really helped with pain in my knee but reading all these negative reviews got me thinking about it's impact on acne. I stopped taking my daily fish oil only 9 days ago and my skin is 90% clearer! I have had a terrible summer with cystic acne and until reading some of these reviews I would never have put two and two together. If you have been supplementing with fish oil long term I suggest you ditch it for a week or two and see what happens.

idk..
Over the summer, I began taking the fish oil vitamins. Within a few weeks, i started noticing terrible breakouts. I purchased some cortisone, but it still took the breakouts several days to go away. I think I will try slicing the vitamin in half and rubbing it on my acne, despise the horrid smell.

Triggered hormonal acne around chin

Pros:

Increases omega-3's

Cons:

Can cause hormonal acne in some
Chin developed cysts that lasted about a week

Like a lot of others I experienced hormonal acne around my chin after taking fish oil. At first I tried a generic brand, then an organic, but had the same reaction both times. After that I was afraid to try cod liver oil. My chin is consistently fairly clear which is how I knew the cysts were caused by the fish oil. (I started taking chia seeds, then I found Ovega-3 vegetarian dha/epa supplement. I strongly urge everyone to try it who's had bad luck with fish oil causing breakouts. It's algae-based, which is what fish eat in order to obtain their omega-3 fats.)

Horrible

Pros:

Mood slightly better but hard to tell as stressed and depressed as I have been with this onslaught

Cons:

Hair got oilier and started falling out
Noticed a strange oily smell to my skin and hair
Caused worst acne breakout of my life

I am a 28 yo female who has only experienced one episode of acne before in my life. Two years ago I was put on oral steroids for an adrenal issue which caused moderately severe acne while taking it for a year. I weaned off of that and at the same time started using epiduo prescribed by a derm. My face cleared up beautifully and was clear for a year until two months ago something happened. I started taking cod liver oil capsules (one daily) and developed some cysts on my chin. No biggie, strange, but I figured they would go away. As my skin progressively got worse I went to a naturopath to get some help. she gave me a stronger dose of liquid cod liver oil and I began taking that 6 weeks ago. I have NEVER had such bad acne in my entire life. Period. It is awful, 6 to ten new red inflamed pustules every other day. After reading all of these reviews I can only assume that this is the culprit, i stopped taking the oil three days ago and am praying that this goes away soon. I know this is long and too detailed, sorry, it's my first ever post on here.

Pros:

Healthy

Cons:

Cystic Acne

I took fish oil capsules for a few days and it gave me cysts. I haven't had cysts for years, since last time I ate chocolate. Eating actual fish gives me no problems.

Pros:

Beneficial for overall health
Stronger, shinier hair & nails
Readily available in most stores

Cons:

Caused cystic acne

I researched fish oil online before I bought it and two brands seemed to work well for acne-prone people: Spring Valley and Sundown. Sundown contains soy, so I went with Spring Valley. I now have painful, inflamed acne all over my T-zone. I won't be able to leave the house for a week! Keep the receipt in case fish oil doesn't agree with you.

Pros:

- None that I can think of

Cons:

- Broke out like crazy

It did not help me in any way. I ended up getting more acne than before. I guess my skin didn't react well. :/

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made me break out with more acne.
Gave me an allergic reaction 30 minutes after taking 2 capsules, constant sneezing and watery eyes with nasal drip.

I read all the reviews on here before purchasing the fish oil, I kept in mind all the negative reviews of the Fish oil, while i made the decision to test this out, and to my surprise noticed constant sneezing and watery eyes within 30 minutes of taking the fish oil, it lasted for 6 hours . The sneezing went away around 9:00 pm, I took another 2 pills around 10:00 pm, ( just to see if i had another episode) 30 minutes later the same story , sneezing and watery eyes. The next morning I wake up and look in the mirror and saw a major break out on my face, 30 white heads all over my face and some huge ones under my skin. I would not recommend this product to anyone.

well, it just seems like you're allergic to the pills, that's what caused your breakout
