Pros:

Reduces amount of breakouts significantly, good for body overall.

Cons:

Annoying to have to take the pills everyday, the cost adds up over time, I plan to get the oil next as it's most cost efficient in the long run compared to the pills, also I'd prefer to take 1 and 1/2 tsps of oil a day compared to 9 pills a day.

Sense I started taking fish oil the amount of inflamed acne I get has decreased dramatically. As opposed to maybe 5-10 active pimples at one time I now have 3-4 at most it's normally about 2. I highly suggest others considering trying this go ahead and do so. Also, I take 3000 mgs a day, which I think is very important, on my pill bottle it says each serving provides 12000 mgs of omega 3 but in reality the nutrition label reads that it's only about 720 mgs per serving (2 pills), hence the reason I take 9 pills per day, 3 with breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc. which is annoying and the reason why I intend to get the oil. Overall though I have no intention to ever stop taking these and I am really amazed at the reduction of acne I've seen sense incorporating them!

Pros:

No more terribly greasy flaky skin.No new breakouts AT ALL. Skin looks glowing and feels so much smoother.

Cons:

Pills are expensive-but worth it!

Battling acne (severe) for over 18 years, tried everything. Doctor did cholesterol check and its low, but LDL was very low she said to take fish oil. Besides increasing good cholesterol, that it helps decrease androgen production (contributes to acne). Tried it and within a few days, I am ecstatic about the results! Never ever in my life has my skin looked soooo good! I also wash with Obagi salycylic acid cleanser at night, put on thin layer of proactive bp before bed, and during day(morn, dinner times) wash with tea tree oil soap to keep oilyness down. My skin looks not perfect but about 80% better, for real. Everyone has noticed and said how fresh and healthy it looks.-me! used to have bad skin. I take Max. Strength Triple Omega 3 6 9 from vitamin world 3 times a day (also has flaxseed oil and borage seed oil in it). I tried to take other kinds years ago, but seriously, quality is VERY important with fish oil, cause the other cheaper ones didnt do a thing before. These are the best!

Pros:

I think there are a lot of long term benefits and it seemed that the fish oil helped with mood.

Cons:

Every time I go through a fish oil phase, I seem to get blind pimples. My skin is usually prone to small hormonal flare ups, but these are bad. Maybe I take too much - around 6 per day to help with depression - but then I stop and my skin clears.

I think fish oil is great if you don't have this problem, I noticed someone else said the same thing (anonymous in australia mentioned deep cystic acne which is the same i think)- it would be great to hear if anyone else has had similar experience, as my naturapath fried says it is not possible for fish oil to cause acne, so I keep trying. I think it is the fish oil though.

Pros:

Many health benefits, acne not being one of them

Cons:

Caused breakeouts when taking large quantities, i.e. 10 pills in a day.

This may work for you but it didn't work for me.

Pros:

Clear skin..no harmful chemicals on or in the skin

Cons:

none

I have been battling acne my whole life. I have tried everything and nothing has really worked. I am 37 and still struggling. I have been eating very healthy and exercising and still breaking out heavily. I began the fish oil and was surprised at how well it has cleared up my skin. I have not ever had such good results.

Pros:

Softer, smoother, hardier skin; shinier and stronger hair and nails

Cons:

Fishy burps, not a cure-all

Adding this supplement to my routine made my skin way more tolerant to the topicals I use, so I can "abuse" it a lot with SA (2x daily) and ACV (also 2x daily) without irritation, whereas before, using SA 2x daily, no ACV, would often cause my skin to be very irritated. It also added a bit of a healthy glow, and has some nice side effects on your hair, fingernails, and apparently brain function. I wouldn't use it to replace a regimen, but it's a very helpful addition! (I marked myself as very light, though without any treatment, I am moderate/moderately severe. 'Course, that's been awhile now, so. :) )

Pros:

No after taste in a one-a-day pill.

Cons:

None.

I have taken Spring Valley brand fish oil caps for about 2 weeks and my skin is greatly improved. I take one pill per day, in the evening after dinner. The Spring Valley brand eliminates toxins and there is no after taste. I really like the results.

Pros:

Good for you

Cons:

None

It didn't do anything for my acne. It didn't help with oily skin either. I took two capsules daily for 2 months without any noticeable difference. Fairly harmless to try though so give it a shot.
