Cut my acne by 50%, but there were unpleasant side effects
First of all, I used a different brand and took two 1300 mg capsules a day. I did this for almost two months. A little background: I've had severe acne since I was ten. I've tried a bunch of different over-the-counter and prescription products. Proactiv was the only thing previously that resulted in any positive skin change. A six-month round of Accutane in my late teens did nothing. Cutting out dairy for three months did nothing. Three different forms of birth control over the course of nine months did nothing. So I was definitely skeptical of evening primrose, but at the same time, I had nothing to lose. I noticed a huge difference within the first five days. My skin was much less splotchy and the tiny bumps that accompanied my cysts disappeared. Over the course of the next two weeks, my acne improved tremendously. However, while my cysts were disappearing from my forehead and cheeks, the area around my neck and chin got much, much worse. I stuck with it, though, as I figured this would go away as my body adjusted to the supplement. However, when I started ovulating in week three, I encountered what I call a side effect: cramps from hell. It felt like I had shards of glass stuck inside of me for five days. I actually had to call out of work it was so debilitating. But, I stuck with the evening primrose oil to see if things got better - they didn't. When I started ovulating again around week seven into my primrose oil use, I had to stop. The lower half of my face was cystic all over and the cramp pain made this ineffective for me. But, considering how it helped the rest of my face, I'd encourage anyone to try it.

I had cramping too after I tried EPO. Yes, cramps from hell! I suggest magnesium. It comes in liquid, powder or pills. The best I know of is called 'Natural Calm.' It comes in these cool-aid like packets you add to water. EPO didn't bother me anymore..plus less period cramps, helps with being less sore after workout too. Magnesium helps me to sleep and relax too. Hope that helps you! Sorry it worked and then you had to stop!
