My face got worst
I did tons of research on this product before I used it and i was super excited to try it so I purchased it at target because I didn't want to wait for shipping. I took daily pics of my face and my face for 5 days has gotten worst I went from minor pimples on my forehead to numerous cyst like bumps on my cheeks and along my jaw bone. I am very disappointed...

If you have more severe acne, the product may be making your face "purge." Acne that lies under the skin doesn't heal itself over the course of a few days. A good acne treatment can make skin better before it gets worse. I would stick with it, as long as it isn't causing an allergic reaction. Even the best skin care needs time to work.

Dangerous, WORSENED HORRIBLY my GF's acne problem
I'm really angry with this product, my girlfriend has acne and used this and the product looks like it burned her face, she has a horrible red spot on her cheeks were she had a couple of pimples. even worse, there's no indications anywhere as of what to do when this happens. I would advice anyone not to take the risk of buying this crap. If anyone knows what to do to revert the damage this thing did please respond to this message, my GF doesn't even want to go outside. She used it for a week

I know it's quite late, but here's what I do when I accidentally burn my face (on account of overnight spot treatments such as garlic *veeery bad idea*, clay masks mixed with essential oils or any other sh*t) Firstly, apply ice on the spot and leave it there for about a minute. Then apply green tea compresses twice daily (or more than twice, if she feels so. just cut a small part of a cotton pad, to fit the spot under discussion, and soak it in freshly brewed green tea, but not too hot, to avoid getting burned once again; wait for it to dry partially and apply again) Secondly, apply a chamomile toner, and, , while the skin is still damp, apply a vitamin c serum (you can buy vitamin c drops for children from the drugstore). Use this treatment twice daily until the burn heals. Also, she can use a mixture of sweet almond oil and one or two drops of lavender essential oil with a cotton pad on the problematic areas. Hope it helps

I just use this on cystic acne since it's quiet strong, after I wash my face I apply my toner and apply this on top of my zits. They sting horrible, so I wipe them out cottonpads and rose water and then I applied aloevera gel on the zits leave it on overnight, and during the day I use good sunscreen. I did this every day, and on the third day my skin became red and even turned brown yes brown. On the 6th day I can just peel the skin that dried out and viola, beautiful new skin under it. This stuff works on cystic acne, but not as a regular moisturizer for me, but I'm still really happy with this one

Didn't work for me
I used this product along with the face wash that is suppose to match with it. After day one I had a horrible breakout and so I assumed it was just the beginning and I would have clear skin after. However my spots only got worse on my forehead and my chin for 3 months. Whenever I applied the cream my spots would burn and i thought it meant that they were working but my skin never cleared. I stopped using the product and only after a week there was a massive change and my skin was clearer but still spotty. If anyone knows any working products please tell me. I've had so many spots for so many years it has definetly lowered my self confidence.

Absolutely awful !
This product is terrible. I've spent the whole summer using it because my dermatologist told me it was THE solution to my acne issues. It simply destroyed my skin and I went from a bad case of cystic acne to scars and disgusting whiteheads all over my cheeks and jawline. I was so disfigured I couldn't even face a mirror or sleep because it hurt. Now that I've stopped using it, my skin looks terrible  '"hypermygmentation all over the face'" + it is oversensitive and I can't put anything on it.

unfortunately does not help
I was using this more or less 3 months and I didn't saw any progress. Do not put too much hope in this product. I think this is not for real acne problem, maybe just for skin with few pimples.

Don't Waste your Money
I've never found 1 single over the counter product that works... not even this 1. I use to have terrible acne, but then I started something called Erythromycin-Benzoyl Peroxide Topical Gel. 3 days later, my face was completely clear. I did purge during the 1st 24 hours (purge = got worse initially.) I pay 15$ every 3 months on my copay for insurance & I went to my primary care physician. You can go to the dermatologist, but they're a lot more expensive. Insurance treats a specialist different & they get to charge you a lot more. Anyways, my advice is don't waste your money on OTC products. Start off with your doctor to begin with. You'll save so much money in the long run.

just good
I have had acne for like 5 years since I had my first period. I took oral medications as well several acne gels and creams. And my acne got clear leaving few red scars on my cheeks. Since then whenever my period was about to start I used to have 3 or 4 pimples on my cheeks but they were cleared after a week or so. but two months before my skin broke out severly n my brother in law sent me the acne kit of laroche. It did not help with my acne much. it just dried the pimples and made them cysts. no i have a real bad cystic acne and i dont want to seee mirror. i stopped using this product after two weeks. but since then my skin did not get better. so i wanted to give it another go i have started using the effaclar due again every morning and night. its been a week and i am not seeing any visible improvment. i have now ordered neutrogena acne kit

Pros:

None

Cons:

Stings face (extremely painful and irritating to skin)
Skin peels
Worsens acne
Face turns red
Dries out skin

This stuff is awful. I went from having moderate acne to having severely painful pimples appear all over my face. My skin is now the worst it has ever been. Do not buy this product!

Aweful Product Gave me Scars!! :(
I would give this product no stars if i could. After use of their kit, my face has been dry, burning, and itching for over a week. I purchased after misleading packaging, saying it was suitable for sensitive skin types. I have tried every remedy to no avail. Now there are scars appearing on my face. I have been trying to go without washing to see if my skin will regain its natural moisture and barrier. I can still feel my skin getting torn. Stay away if you have sensitive skin or definitely patch test. This product has caused the worse and most painful experience of my life! It hurts to look in the mirror and i severely regret this experience. Your face is your identity, protect it from harsh products as these if you are the sensitive type!

I'm in the same boat as you. How is your skin now, after stopping the products? I'm trying to only wash my face with cold water and use a bit of apple cider vinegar, as this has helped in the past. What an awful product Effaclar Duo is :(

They refunded the 30 dollars, but even that wasn't enough to repair the damage and suffering this product has caused me. I have indented scars, where I had none before. It has been 3 weeks now, the only thing I can use on my face is water and a cetaphil cleanser, any thing else pretty much seems to aggravate and inflame my skin. Horrible product from hell. They really should not advertise to sensitive skin types. I wouldn't have purchased, if it wasn't for that label. If anything, this made me more knowledgeable.
