Would give it 5/5, but...
unfortunately the price tag dropped it a star. That is really the only thing bad I have to say about this product. I have been using Dan's Regimen for... oh jeez, almost 7 years now? Anyway, the Regimen is the only thing that has ever truly worked for me. However, recently I have been having acne problems again, not totally sure why (too many variables to narrow it down). I bought this because I noticed that it had a slightly higher concentration of BP than my normal acne.org stuff, and it also had some LHA for exfoliation. I am glad that I bought it, because it seems to be the extra kick my face needed to start purging itself of the cysts lurking beneath my skin. I still have teeny tiny whiteheads on my forehead, but I think nothing short of an act of God will make those go away. I only use it once a day, as it makes my skin sensitive and I don't want to overdo it. My facewash is neutrogena ultra gentle hydrating cleanser, creamy formula. My moisturizer is acne.org moisturiser, and after that is finished soaking in, I apply a layer of neutrogena deep moisture night cream to pack it in. Once a week I use a korean face mask for extra moisture. I have severely dry skin, and this Effaclar Duo (original version, not plus) (U.S. version) did not seem to make it any worse than usual. Of course, I have been using BP for years, so keep that in mind.

Effective
This spot treatment is effective. I did notice a small amount of peeling/reddness though so be mindful with how much you apply and how ofter you use it. It's not a "miracle cure" for me though.... the only miracle cure is spironolactone :)

Can't imagine my day without it
It is my favorite product from the whole line and I use it twice a day as my daily cream, thus under I put some moisturizing day cream for acne prone skin (previously Rev Acnosal, Effaclar H and now trying out Pergam Acnell) as I find it too light to keep my skin moisturized enough, especially in winter or when using topical skin treatments. It keeps my oils under control. Specifically noticed when sometimes due to my laziness after washing my face/having shower I haven't put this cream immediately on, within an hour my T zone becomes oily like a pancake. Also once while traveling I was in a country where they do not sell LRP products at all (and I didn't know that) and I ran out of my Effaclar Duo - you can't imagine how horrible my skin became just in one week without the cream! Due to overproducing the oils my pores became clogged and I got pimples everywhere - even where I usually haven't got! And I kept all the rest of my routine the same. I should note down I like the new Duo plus version better than the old Effaclar Duo, as it lightens the redness on my cheeks (sensitive skin) and acne scars. After one year of using it my old scars on the forehead and cheeks have become almost invisible, on the chin not so much but only because my acne isn't cured and pimples and cysts keep popping up there (hormonal imbalance). I give only 4 stars because it doesn't moisturize enough for my personal preferences. Otherwise it would be 5.

It is not the way you look, it is how you are going to look.
For many years I suffered with acne, now I am acne free, because I discovered one secret, that need to share with any or everyone who want to be free from their acne. Well it is the power to believe that whatever product I am going to use, whatever the choice it is will work. I understand that every skin type and mindset is different, every product and component is different. From the very start, I did not worry about the way I look, I started to believe about the way I am going to look after I apply the medication and it worked.

Ahh, so good
If you have luxury tastes and love your skin to feel clean in one wash and naturally balanced, this is a wonderful product for mild acne and to prevent acne on oily/combo skin, or to use for recovery from more industrial strength acne systems. Alas, too expensive.

Pros:

The small tube lasts long, smell fresh, good base for make up, and the most important : IT WORKED!

Cons:

The high price! (but worth it!)
The fact it is long to see results : so be patient if you try it!! It's worth it!!
Before it started working, after 2 months of use, it kind of burned some areas of my skin(like a sunburn)! I was panicking but after 2 days it was healed, and those areas never had any other breakouts since then!! So don't panic if you feel your skin burning while using it, keep using it : it'll work!

I have been using effaclar duo every morning and night since 2 months and a half now. I first wash my face with the effaclar foaming gel, then apply the moisturizer from La Roche Posay Hydraphase Intense Light and add Effaclar Duo. I learned Effaclar Duo is better as a spot treatment so I apply it only were my face is more prone to acne. It started working for real after 2 months of use : Now my skin is also 90% cleared! My skin is also less red and feel soft!

Pros:

It works
doesn't stimulate skin
Smells good
One tube goes a long way

Cons:

Takes a long time to see any effects
Relatively expensive

I have rather severe acne clustered only on my forehead, and the area between brows. I started using this product since the beginning of November. It's weird that I start to get acne at the beginning of November for two years straight now. After 2 months of consistent usage of this product, I finally got rid of the stubborn forehead acne. I use this product twice daily in combination with La Roche Posay's Effaclar Duo cleanser and Neutrogena's Moisture (Oil free) lotion. At the same time, I make simple honey mask every night before bedtime, and let it hang on my face for roughly half hour. And I highly recommend to eat extremely healthy for about a month just to remove the toxins in your body. Though you will not see immediate effects of eating healthy, but that will help with your overall body well-being, and after about a month since you start to eat healthy you will begin to see smoother skin that glows. As well as a good sleeping pattern improves the way your skin looks. Make sure you re sleeping at a time when you usually sleeps, and no later after 1 AM(personally).

Pros:

Great spot treatment

Cons:

Do not use daily

Ive tried this as a daily treatment with the Laroche Posay gel foaming cleanser... It sucked. I still had breakouts and blackheads and my face felt even oilier (oily/combination skin). However, whenever I feel a pimple coming on or even when one has already formed I use it as a spot treatment overnight and by the AM its gone or ALMOST gone. Bottom line is its not meant to be used daily... The skin specialist that sold it to me told me that the day I bought it (Unfortunately I chose to rebel and do what I wanted to do). She also told me it was a great spot treatment an she was right! You will see a result.

Pros:

-I noticed a reduction in acne
-Did not dry out my skin
-Some forming pimples went away more quickly when using this

Cons:

-Not very effective on cystic type acne
-Gave me more white heads and black heads
-Other pimples that were forming still formed even when applying this
-Cost could be a factor

This cleared the majority of acne on my forehead but was less effective on the acne around my chin and cheeks. There was also sort of a trade off, with less pimples this gave me more white heads, though i still prefer having white heads to a bunch of pimples. I feel like this could be a very good solution for acne if combined with another effective treatment, but alone it just wasn't enough.

Pros:

smooths skin
pores look smaller
prevents and gets rid of pimples

Cons:

can be slightly irritating at times
dries out skin a little at first
but those things go away
expensive
doesnt clear up acne 100%

Im a girl and im 16 years old (if that makes a difference) and ive had moderate acne since the 8th grade meaning i wake up with about 3-5 new zits every morning. not the little clogged pore kind but the bigger redder white head kind. yuck. that and i have quite a few (but not too bad) acne scars. Before i started using this stuff i had gone to the derm multiple times and theyve given me different types of antibiotics (which didnt help) and retin-A (which only dried out the acne and my skin along with it). finally i got fed up and ordered Proactiv. Proactiv was expensive and it only helped me a little bit but it wasnt strong enough and none of my close friends or family could notice any positive changes in my skins appearance. One day i noticed my older brother (19 years old with really bad acne on his cheeks whod also gone to the same derm as me which did nothing for him) had much much clearer skin than usual and i asked him what he was using and it was Effaclar Duo. Hes been using it for about 6 weeks now and his skin still has some pretty bad scars but most of his white heads are gone and some of his scars have faded. Ive used this stuff for about 3 weeks now and the first week i used it about once every other day because it made my skin dry and flaky at first but i gradually upped the applications to twice a day and my skin isnt dry anymore. from the first couple of days i noticed that instead of the regular size and amount of zits popping up on my face i was getting less and smaller pimples and as the weeks go by im getting less and less pimples coming up. I love this stuff! it really works! most products dont do what they say but Effaclar does exactly what it says and now i have hope that my skinll get better finally! I recommend!!!!
