Pros:

- Recommended by my dermatologist.
- Light feeling.
- Does clog pores and oil free.
- Has SPF
- Doesn't irritate my skin even with new formula

Cons:

- Slight sunscreen smell when first applied but seems to diminish after.

I have very sensitive skin and prone to acne. A lot the other moisturizers and cleansers with the SA and BP make my acne worse so I looked into this lotion along with the cleanser by the same line. I actually used this lotion years ago for a few months when my dermatologist gave me a few free samples. I'm not sure when they changed the formula but I'm assuming that the samples were the old formula and absolutely loved it but never could find it until recently. After I bought it i read some of these reviews on the formula change and was a little hesitant about using it but gave it a shot anyways. I've been using it for a week or so now and I personally haven't experience any of the irritations some of the others acquired from the new formula. It works just as I remembered it to and absolutely love it. I guess I'm just a lucky ones. My suggestion is that if you're a little iffy on buying this, go to you're dermatologist and see if they have any free samples. This way you can try it without paying the $10 or so it costs.

Pros:

None anymore.

Cons:

NOT good for sensitive skin anymore.
Causes breakouts and burning since they added the ingredient oxybenzone.

My dermatologist recommended this product for me when I was about 15 years old. I'm 39 now. It's been the most perfect lotion for my extra sensitive skin for all those years, until now. For some reason, they decided to change the ingredients and add oxybenzone. Now if I use it, I get hundreds of small bumps all over my forehead and my whole face burns and turns red. I've been trying to find a new product to use for the last 6 months or so, but I can't find one as good as Purpose used to be. Absolutely devastated.

Pros:

Used product for 20 years! Great product for my sensitive, acne-prone skin! Controlled my acne for so many years.... BUT, read CONS....

Cons:

Can no longer use because of the new ingredient...think they changed sunscreen! Stings my skin, smells bad, and I breakout!

On the search for new moisturizer! I am disappointed.... No longer good for people w/acne and sensitive skin! Not good since I think we are the main customers for their Purpose product line.... Zero rating...

Pros:

Keeps my combination skin under control. After a shower, my skin is usually dry, flakey, and just gross looking, but not when I use this right when I get out. Plus, it doesn't clog pores and it has SPF so I don't need a separate sunscreen.

Cons:

Only SPF 15...nonscented, which is good for me! It's a little costly up front, but lasts a long time.

I love this lotion. I have been using it for at least 3 or 4 years and will gladly stick with it. It's great for my combination, sensitive, pale skin.

Pros:

I've been using this product for years because I needed a moisturizer for acne prone skin and sun protection, and this product did just that. Doesn't clog pores at all. Gives a much-needed moisture if using heavy acne medication that dries skin

Cons:

Leaves an oily feel to the face afterwards, I usually take care of this with a few dabs of an oil-absorbing sheet.

It's a fairly good product, just be prepared for the oily feel afterwards.

Pros:

Moisturizes well after use of harsh cleansers like proactiv, which I do NOT recommend

Cons:

They changed one of their sunscreen ingredients to meradimate. I am allergic to Meradimate

Do a skin patch test before using this product. I didn't realize I was allergic to Meradmimate until it was too late. Went to a general practitioner who gave me a steroid that in turn gave me perioral dermatitis. Not fun. Also, Purpose is the only moisturizer I know that uses Meradimate as an active sunscreen ingredient in their moisturizer. Weird. Other companies use different sunscreen ingredients such as zinc oxide, ensulizole, oxybenzone, etc. Meradimate is weak UVA-II blocker and I believe the company is using it to save on cost. Again, do a skin patch test and have benadryl at the ready.

Pros:

Good, consistent moisturizer. Non-comedogenic, and provides great consistency. Doesn't leave white streaks if rubbed in well.

Cons:

They changed their suncreen ingrediant to meradimate. I am allergic to meradimate. Because I'm allergic, I've been switching from one moistrizer to another. Not fun.

Before they ever used meradimate, things were fine, but now they switched the active ingrediant to one my skin hates. It's been one thing after another. So if you're thinking of using this product, do a skin patch test first. And do it twice! Allergies occur after the first time you use something.

Pros:

Light consistency, spreads easy, great moisturizing effects AND oil free, doesn't cause breakouts, very low price

Cons:

None until they changed the active ingredients (sunscreens) to something that I'm allergic to.

Thought I found the perfect moisturizer, until they changed their sunscreen agents from Meradimate & Titanium Dioxide to Octisalate & Oxybenzone. My face stung like crazy when I used my new bottle last night. I sure wish they'd put warnings on the labels of these "safe for sensitive skin" products when they change active ingredients! If not for that, I would definitely give it a 5.

Pros:

I can't think of any at all.

Cons:

Way too thick, left a gross white film all over my face.

I can honestly say I will never use this moisturizer again. I was desperate for a moisturizer that cleared up my terrible dry spots all over my face, which have been made worse by the BP, (which I do love by the way, regardless). So I bought this moisturizer, thinking it could do the trick. WRONG! I used it once, and while perhaps I should have given it more of a chance, I just can't. It's awful. It left a white outine all over my face, as well as just balled up and mixed with the BP on my face. The texture was terrible; way too thick, and it did not rub on of absorb well. I would definitely not recommend this product to anyone, ever.

Pros:

very lightweight but relieves dry skin
great for acne prone skin
doesn't clog pores
doesn't leave a greasy feel

Cons:

I'm not a big fan of the sunscreen smell, but it could be worse.

I have used a few different kinds of moisturizers, including cetaphil, but this is my favorite so far. It does say dermatologist recommended, & there must be a reason for that. I started using Retin-A b/c I've struggled with acne for about 6 years now, and since it is very drying on the skin, I needed a good moisturizer. I read reviews on this site and was a little skeptical, but results have been very good. Seems like my acne scars are going away, too. Love it!
