Pros:

-helped control oil
-did not overdry my combination skin
-did not irritate already existing acne

Cons:

-did nothing in terms of my acne
-i found under the skin bumps on my forehead after using this

I switched from using a product containing salicylic acid to using a gentle product (Cetaphil) and tried using it for about a month and a half twice a day, however, it actually did nothing for my acne besides make breakouts more severe. I gave it 2/5 because it did help a little bit with oil control but I'm pretty sure you could find a better product that helps fight oil AND acne. It is a good gentle cleanser with those who don't have to fight acne because it just simply cleanses the skin.

Pros:

Leaves skin feeling soft.

Cons:

Not much of a clean feeling.

I like the soft way my skin feels when using this. But I only use it off and on 'cause it feels like it's barely cleaning my skin. Sometimes I really feel I need to rewash my face after using this. Don't know it's cost, my moms friend is a derm and gave me some.

Pros:

Doesn't strip your skin
Learned to like the smell

Cons:

Didn't do my acne any good
Contains sodium laureth sulfate and other bad ingredients

I research all my skin products extensively before i buy them, as I did with this one, the reviews were mostly good so I got it. At first it was a great cleanser, did its job seemed to be clearing my skin a little and didn't strip my skin. But, I continuously used it for a good 2 months and keep breaking out, I didn't think it had anything to do with this though. But one day I started using my moms face wash (basis for sensitive skin bar) only for about a week cause that one started to dry out my skin, but in that week I could see my skin was clearer, less inflamed and overall healthier looking. After that I completely stopped using cetaphil and switched to the body shop calming aloe cleanser and my skin has improved a lot. I don't know what it was but it seemed like the longer I used cetaphil the worst my skin got.

Pros:

-gentle
-simple to use

Cons:

- broke out after one month of use
- does not really get makeup of
- does not help much with acne

I think this product would be good if you have sensitive skin. However, this product just didn't work for me. I have been using proactive for a few years now but unfortunately I never got much results. I switched to cetaphil face wash with the cetaphil light lotion after reading some reviews but after one month I started to get break outs on my forehead and chin that I never had before. In fact it was the worst break out I ever had. So now I'm switching back to proactive until I can find a better product.

Pros:

Worked well in the beginning

Cons:

Not paraben-free
Drying, especially in the winter
Stopped clearing acne over time

This was a godsend at first as it completely cleared my light-to-moderate acne when I began using it last summer. After several months of use, I'm breaking out the same way I was right before I started using it. It's also making my seasonally-dry skin even dryer. For me, it's just not worth using anymore.

*Acne prone skin* made my skin itchy and dry.
I've never tried this product before but I absolutely love their facial moisturizer so I decided to give this a try. The smell and consistent is really nice and it isn't too expensive so a good first impression. However I didn't feel like it actually made my skin any cleaner and it left my skin feeling dry and itchy. Have only been using it a couple of times (8-13) and I won't be using it anymore. I have acne prone skin and my skin is quite sensitive so maybe it will work better for other skin types. I live in the north (cold weather, quite windy and dry air?) Reading all the comments it have mixed reactions so if you're willing to take a risk give it a try. Hopefully it works better for you^^

Oily Skin ? Beware ! ( MAY BE CANCEROUS & LEAD TO MORE ACNE )
For about 6-8 months, I loved this stuff. I used it 1-2 times daily and it really helped keep my oily skin oil-free but not too dry. After I began using it long term, I noticed some changes. For instance, it didn't keep my skin as oil-free anymore - it made my skin even more oiler. I did some research and found out that this stuff strips the skin of natural oils, which triggers the body to produce EVEN more of this oil which can cause more breakouts. According to one website it was called a "cancerous sludge". I definitely don't want to risk getting cancer, even if it means clear skin. If you still want to use this product, I recommend using it 2-4 times every week. Using it every day will dry out your skin and then cause an overflow of oil. Personally, I no longer use this product and instead use African Black Soap every other day. So far it's going great ! As said in the title, this might not be the best for oily skin as it can cause your skin to dry out and then trigger your glands to produce more oil. I also do not recommend using longterm or often. Use with caution !

Pros:

smells good
feels clean and refreshing

Cons:

made me breakout on my forehead

I thought it was going to be a good facial cleanser because a doctor told me about it but it made me breakout more. It was pretty disappointing. It smelled good and it felt very clean and refreshing tough. It didn't dry my skin but it made my face very oily in the morning. IN SHORT, IT DID NOT WORK FOR ME.

Pros:

Its cheap, and you can find it almost everywhere.

Cons:

It caused little bumps around my face after about the 2nd week.

It might work for some people but not for me. It actually worked really well at first, cleared my face up, then it just stopped. I started getting little rash like bumps around my face.

Pros:

reduces oil. that's all.

Cons:

DOESN'T HELP ACNE AT ALL. If anything, it made my skin worse.
Fragrance-free? Alot of people have said it calms their skin, it seemed to agitate mine.

I would not reccomend this product if you have acne. it sucks. I am regretting that I ever purchased this. I think I'm allergic or sensitive to the ingredients in it. I purchased the Purpose bar the other night and can already see a reduction in the zits cetaphil left along my jaw line [where I never break out]. THIS STUFF IS BAD NEWS STAY AWAY FROM IT.
