Pros:

Works

Cons:

Purging
Takes months for it work
Dries your face for the first few weeks

I had deep cystic acne on my cheeks that hurt alot. I've tried proactiv, doxycycline, sodium sulfacetamide, minocycline and none of them worked. I first started using it Dec. 2009. Brokeout HORRIBLY. It was bad. So I stopped for about 1 month. After a month I decided to give it another shot, with the idea that "it can't get any worse than it already is". So i got back on it in Feb. 2010. Started using it consistently every night. By the end of March things were looking better, about 3-4 pimples on each cheek, with the occasional 2 or 3 on my forehead and chin. It's now May and my cheeks, chin and forehead are clear. All that remains are red marks and a few pimples on my jaw line. I am currently using baby soap as a face wash, ziana at night, and acanya in the morning. I took bactrim ds for about 2 weeks in Feb. but stopped because of the side-effects. Ziana works, just stick to it.

Pros:

1. Doesn't sting
2. Doesn't smell
3. Doesn't irritate skin

Cons:

1. EXPENSIVE after the first 3 discounted tubes

I have been using Ziana gel for about 3 months now. Its hard to tell how much this product has improved my acne. This year has been the first year that I have had BAD acne, everywhere! I started to breakout on my chest, arms, and lower back. I had never had a problem with my skin before. I learned that I was under too much stress, I wasn't getting enough vitamins and I was often dehydrated, all causes of acne. I can tell that the improvements that I have made have significantly helped, now I'm just waiting for the marks on my skin to go away. I'm not sure if I can continue to use Ziana gel as money is tight right now, I don't have insurance, and I've already gotten 3 discounted tubes of Ziana gel :(

Pros:

apply small amount once a day
gradual results

Cons:

irritating until your skin adjusts to it
must remain pale

my derm prescribed me ziana gel, solodyn antibiotic, and triaz foaming cloths. in the morning i wash my face with the triaz cloth and then take the solodyn pill. at night i wash my face with cetaphil and then apply this gel. my skin was so irritated the first couple of weeks. i watched the movie 'brothers' and i was allergic to my own tears. had that 'just cried' look throughout the entire next day : ( skin really dries out at first.. make sure you have a good moisturizer.. and more importantly.. wait at least an hour before applying moisturizer on your face after applying this gel. its been almost a month now and my skin is adjusting.. it's not at all irritated just a little dry. i can see my skin starting to clear.

Pros:

Very easy to use, quick, effective.

Cons:

None that I can think of.

This is not a miracle drug! Don't expect anything to be. But of all the things I've tried (and really, I've tried it all), it's the most low maintenance product with the best results. I just put a bunch of it on my face (more than a pea size) at night and my skin is noticeably better. Yes, I still get acne and break outs, but they seem less severe. Most of my whiteheads are gone and my skin is much smoother. The one $25 bottle I bought isn't even half way empty and I got it 4 months ago. I use cetaphil face wash first, then ziana, then a moisturizer. Maybe for those who have had a bad experience they have a different kind of acne than me. I had a lot of white heads that would eventually turn into pus filled pimples (gross, I know) that I could always pop. Maybe it doesn't work for those with cystic acne or little tiny pimples. Good luck!

Pros:

samples were free

Cons:

i never looked worse in my life

I went to the dermatologist for a spot on my face that he says is pre cancerous. so they used liquid nitrogen to freeze it. then i had two other blocked up pours that had to be basically seared with a hot poker. ok no problem. i was given two samples of Ziana to use as well. i dont have acne but i do get zits from time to time and i have large pores on my nose and above my cheeks an on my chin. the dr said that zina would help with the pores and i thought he said it would help to expose any other pre cancerous spots. so i began using the samples as directed. within 3 days i looked like a burn victim! a cyst formed on one side, huge red peeling spots around my mouth and the whole right side of my face peeled like a snake. it burned , part of it cracked and bled whenever i would eat. and i got huge swollen zits breaking out. i was so embarassed i didnt want to go to work. so i stopped Ziana and started using Polysporin to try and heal my face and nose, oh yea break outs on my nose too. It looks so bad that someone accused me of using Meth!! said my face is rotting off! The pharmacy called to see if i was going to pick up the script that was called in $472! i was given a discount card and its only going cost me $25 but i wouldnt want it for free. so 4 days of polysporin and cetaphyl and it almost back to normal but wow. definately not for me.

Pros:

Easy to use, non-sticky. It's worth it!
Make your skin smoother and clearer.
With the discount it's $25.

Cons:

You can feel some dryness and peeling.
Don't use a lot, it can make your skin greasy.
Use it at night as recommended.
It can be very expensive without an insurance or the discount!

I've been using Ziana for almost 3 months now and I can tell you that it really works. You just need to be patient. Actually I've never had a severe acne. I used to breaking out especially during my menstrual period... But Ziana really helps to reduce spots at this time. Now, I'm breaking out really rarely. Don't worry about marks and acne scare because Ziana will make your skin dry and you will notice a lot of pealing; but it's a good sign because the dead skin will go away and the new skin will appear without the marks. I suggest you to also use a moisturizer during the day (I use "clear remedy" of iQ Derma - the cleanser, the lotion and the moisturizer). Good luck and don't forget to be patient...

Pros:

Didn't make my skin any worst.

Cons:

GREASY GREASY SKIN.. Skin Wasn't ever consistently clear. Didn't help with hormonal acne.

it didnt work well enough for me to handle the oily skin. It was just as annoying as keeping up with acne itself

Pros:

easy to use

Cons:

having to be patient with it, some peeling and redness, also very expensive w/out insurance, I used discount card for 25$ but my pharmacist said it's normally four hundred plus dollars!! (w/out ins.)

I've been using the product now for about 3 weeks. It's been kind of on and off. At first my face cleared up really well then at the beginning of the third week I started breaking out on one side of my face SO bad, didn't want to leave my house. So that weekend I stayed home and didn't wear make-up and used ziana day and night and by Monday the breakout was already healed up and going away. Now I am still getting one or two very small ones, but all in all my face is looking so much better than it did before the product. I am happy with the results so far and hopefully everything will continue to keep getting better. =D

Pros:

Affordable, Easy Routine

Cons:

Does not clear Acne

Didn't work for me, I have used in small pea size amount and bigger size amount (noticed it worked somewhat better the less you use) I have been VERY patient as I have used this product for 2 1/2 months and It's basically an on and off thing with ziana. I get clear great looking skin for a week in exchange for 2 or 3 weeks of bad red pimples. Not worth it. I'm going back to the dermatologist in a week, hopefully I'll be put on accutane, this has been my 6th topical treatment and I've had enough!
