Pros:

-Heals existing acne
-Prevents future breakouts and infection of pimples
-Speeds up the healing process in whiteheads (they quickly become ready to pop [do so carefully] and heal very quickly after popping)
-Amount lasts a long time
-Cheap with some health coverage/health benefits

Cons:

-Tricky to figure out the right amount
-Takes a bit of practice for the first few days
-Can be VERY HARSH and cause burning, extreme redness, flaking and skin pain if you use too much!
-Does not exfoliate your skin or unclog pores. Try using a very gentle soap on a wet wash cloth, then apply benzaclin.

I can hardly believe it: My skin is clearing up!!!! I've had adult acne (dermatologist said it's hormonal) for several years now, moderate on my face with bad body acne and a few cystic ones. I've tried oral antibiotics, drug store products with salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide (washes, toners, astringents, scrubs, body washes, creams, gels, ointments!), Proactiv, tea tree oil, gentle soaps, and lemon juice. The Proactiv was the only thing that worked, but it stopped working after a few months and I couldn't manage my acne anymore. I went to a walk in clinic and asked for help managing my acne. I was prescribed an oral contraceptive used for acne, and benzaclin. The oral contraceptive hasn't kicked in yet. I've only been taking it for a week, and it takes about 3 months to start working on the acne, so I know for certain it's the benzaclin clearing my acne. I've been using benzaclin for a week. The first 3 days were horrible, because I used WAY too much of it and my face was burnt. I was so red and sore, it was like having a bad sunburn (or chemical burns on your face. Ouch. lol) I then read reviews on here, which helped a lot! I realized I have to use tiny amounts and take time to spread it over my face carefully and gently rub it in so that it absorbs. Do NOT slather this stuff on like I did. You shouldn't have any wet spots left on your face, or any white residue after applying it, otherwise it will burn your skin. Also, wait a while before applying moisturizer. I read on here that it doesn't work for body acne, but I started applying a little bit to my chest and shoulders, and it's healing the acne there too. So try it on your body acne and see if it works. Avoid using it on your neck. The skin is too sensitive there.

Pros:

Cleared skin
Skin stayed clear for a whole year

Cons:

Stopped working after 18 months.

I knew it wasn't going to work forever but I am devistated that I became immune to it. It is still worth a try.

Pros:

Works very well on mild-moderate acne.

Cons:

Can be drying. Purchase a good moisturizer!

I was prescribed this medication for my hormonal breakouts. I generally would get anywhere from 3-8 pimples right before my period. I started using this and after about 3 weeks I noticed a HUGE difference. Now, I usually only get one pimple a month, sometimes none at all! The only downside to using this is that it is drying, so I put it on at night, and use a good moisturizer every morning to help with the dryness. It's also worth getting a good exfoliator to use twice weekly to help get rid of any dead skin.

Pros:

~Clears light-mild acne in as little as 1 week!
~Shrinks pimples very quickly!

Cons:

~Can be very drying
~Expensive

This product helped me clear up most of my acne/breakout problems! It works very well on small pimples that appear, and light breakouts, but not so much on the very bad breakouts, which I had a couple of times. I advise anyone who is interested in this topical medicine to ask their dermatologist before using it.

Pros:

Begins clearing skin immediately
Skin noticeably smoother
New blemishes are small and heal quickly
Red spots are fading

Cons:

None

I am 18 and I started having trouble with my skin at 17. I tried bc pills (OTC and YAZ), benzaclin, and tazorac (not all at once) and my complexion got substantially worse. In addition, I lost a lot of hair while on and after taking YAZ. I tried a new derm two weeks ago and she started me on Duac at bedtime and Nicomide pills (one a day for now). My skin is 80% better after only two weeks! My cheeks and forehead are smooth again. This is the only product that has worked for me. I highly recommend trying it.

Pros:

Clears acne with time

Cons:

Causes major redness
Causes very dry skin

This is not an over night solution. After about a month of use my zits started to go away but the side effects are not worth it. They zits might have gone my skin was left looking like a tomato. When I would get out of the shower my skin would crack from the dryness even if I had been using moisturizer. The other night I tried to use it as spot treatment. The next morning I woke up the zits were not gone and I had red blotches all over my face. So even if the zits are gone the redness and dryness leaves your skin looking horrible - not worth it.

Pros:

Cooling, Works fast, Works well on body acne

Cons:

Small Tube, Dryness, May not work for everyone.

As a 15 year old suffering from bad acne since I was 11, I've used a lot of acne products, but Duac was the most effective. It works best when used with some sort of cleanser.

Pros:

Cleared my spots amazingly!
Noticeable results from day 1
Takes around a month to work, but I didn't notice the weeks go by, just my skin clearing up:)

Cons:

Does dry your skin out, but nothing some exfoliation and a good moisturiser cant fix
Contains peroxide, so don't get it in your eyebrows like I did...

I've had quite bad spots for about 4 years (I'm 15), and I've tried EVERYTHING. Seriously; clearisil, clean & clear, freederm....but nothing worked. At all. But I went to my doctor, and she prescribed me this, and BOOM! My skin is almost crystal clear! It's changed my life! I used to have this massive fringe that covered about 2 thirds of my face (attractive, I know-_-), but since I used this product, I have my hair just framing my face, and get so many good comments! It's even given me the courage to start modelling! Life saver; buy it! Oh, and you don't have to store it in the fridge, it says only the pharmacist has to do that:P

I recently got this item from my GP about a month ago, she said it would take about 2 month for this product to actually work. After a week my skin got immediately better. I find this product great. It doesn't burn my skin but to others this may be different. I would definitely recommend this to anyone, its worth a try!
