Pros:

-excellent customer service
-vegan
-operated by humble operation

Cons:

-runny
-harsh
-pore clogging

If you have very oily skin like me, this probably is going to be hell on your face. The runny scrub has crushed walnut shells in it which can tear your skin, and irritated mine. It irritated it so much that it actually made it much oilier and made it break out awfully. All of the butters and rich ingredients in this product will clog your pores something awful. Now I'm left with many red marks on my face that will take many months to heal. If you have acne and dry skin I'm sure it would be a different situation though...just be very cautious!

Worked at first

Cons:

You must use it in the shower. The natural soap doesn't last very long, and I have to order it, so I ordered 5 more bars.
drying

I stopped using this years ago... and wanted to updated my review. It dried out my skin to the extent where my eye lids were flaking off :/

Pros:

Fairly inexpensive compared to other acne products

Cons:

The directions are different on the bottle than on the paper that comes with the product.

Made my skin even more oily than it was before. I would wake up looking like one big grease ball. Maybe it will get better since i have only been using it for about five days but i really hate to get waking up or walking around all day at work looking like an oil slick.

Pros:

inexpensive, the bar of soap is nice, its all natural

Cons:

it didnt work, made my acne severe and in places i never had it before (like my neck) and i felt manipulated by all these testimonials that they throw in your face!

I tried the Carley's regime for more than four months - and I was very diligent - not only did I follow the directions completely (new washcloth every time, etc), but I only used their moisturizers, only used mineral makeup, and did everything else right in the natural way (diet, exercise, vitamins, acupuncture). The first week I had one of the worst breakouts of my life (all over my neck - I never had that before. It's still healing). Since then, I'd continue to have rashes and bad breakouts. After two months - I wrote to Carley's to see why it wasn't working - and got sent hundreds of testimonials saying it did work so it must me ME who is doing something wrong. The owner, while it's nice that he wrote back, said basically - it works for everyone else so I must be the problem! Really, I think those broken walnut shells are quite abrasive -- of course they would irritate skin!

Pros:

smells nice and is cheap and lasts forever

Cons:

runny and pore clogging

Ahh this stuff broke me out horribly and has left me with a ton of red marks and scars. I kept with it for a long time, well over 3 months, thinking that it was brining it all out of my skin but I couldn't take it anymore. It gave me the worst breakouts I've ever had and actually made my face much oilier in the process. Now I'm off to a very long road of recovery from all of the damage. :-(

It made my skin feel clean. I received 2 free bars of all natural soap when I purchased the cleanser & lotion.

Cons:

It didn't work at all for me.

It seems like a decent product, but it didn't help my skin at all.

Pros:

All-natural. Feels great!

Cons:

The natural essential oil fragrances of lavender irritate my skin.

Would work for most people. I am in the small percentage of people who have extreme skin sensitivities.

Good potential, impossible transition. Maybe later?
I tried Carley's based on the great overall acne.org review rating, and what I learned after looking at their ingredients and approach. But, it didn't work out for me. I think that my skin is going to need a while hidden from view to make the switch from a conventional benzoyl peroxide regimen to Carley's products, or just a loooooong transition period of sloooowly phasing down my BP regimen and phasing up Carley's, over a couple months--something that I'm not going to be able to do anytime soon. I'm a very very veery natural and holistic-health person, but I swallowed the proverbial pill and got on BP in order to get consistently clear enough to a) do atrophic scar treatments (in the past, I would break out badly after microneedling); and b) move and interview for new jobs and make new friends. Once clear on BP, I thought, 'Ok, now I can go back to my healthy natural cosmeceuticals, and Carley's seems good.' But, no, that was a mistake. I really like the ingredients and what they're doing, but right now I have to return everything because I started to break out worse than ever while I was on Carley's, so I had to stop.

Once I started to break out, I read many, many of the 1-star acne.org reviews for the Industrial Strength KickA** scrub, to see what other people were experiencing -- a lot of people complained of getting tons of small hard red little bumps all over, about 7-14 days in. That is exactly what happened to me; so it seems there's a consistent type of skin response out there. The first 14 days were perfectly fine for me, but then literally overnight, the bumps and stinging started. The bumps were so dense and sudden, it felt like a rash. But, I don't think I'm allergic to BP, because I've been on a Face Reality BP regimen for a while. I don't think I'm allergic to any of the herbs or oils in the scrub, because I've either used them before or am familiar enough with them to not suspect them as problems. I didn't think I'd get a purge period, because my skin was already really clear from BP. So, I really don't know what caused the breakout. Perhaps it was the sudden use of oils and ph 7 products after using no oils and ph 5-ish products for so long?

So I got a million little superficial bumps on my forehead, temples, ear area, neck, and jaws, and eventually they spread more toward the center of my face on on my back and chest too. I stopped the Kickass and just used the natural soap for a couple days, to see if the bumps would go down; they just stayed put, no real change. Then I added in the sample of the MSM cleanser they sent for a few days, and that seemed to be having some effect, but not enough to take hold; my skin was responding really inconsistently day to day. I know that skin needs more time to get used to a new product, but I quit all Carley's after 20 days, because the bumps were starting to grow, and I couldn't risk them all turning into cysts, because that would have been a horrorshow. So, I went back to my BP regimen, and now I'm almost completely cleared up again after 4 days back on that. Phew!!!!

I am keeping the Sea Buckthorn / Rose Otto / Broccoli moisturizer (I think it's the "anti-aging / acne prone moisturizer"?) , because I like the ingredients a lot. I little does go a long way. I'm hoping (fingers crossed) that I can incorporate it into my BP regimen to help nourish my skin, since it gets pretty dull looking with BP over time. It's non-comedogenic too, according to the long list of comedogenic ingredients that Face Reality programs tell you to avoid.
