Pros:

Best face wash out there! Reduces acne and is very gentle. Cleans deep.

Cons:

Doesn't exfoliate.

Since it's very light to get the full benefits of this wonderfulness you must massage lightly (in circular motion) for at least 30 seconds. I have very stubborn acne and I use this cleanser along with specto's hydra care for blemish prone skin mixed with lots of tea tree oil and I'm totally Clear. Even benzyl peroxide, although it worked very well, didn't work as well as this regimen. I can now be worry-free of the long term effects of radicals produced by BP.

Pros:

- Gentle and effective at removing makeup and dirt.
- Leaves skin glowing and smooth.
- Doesn't dry skin out at all.
- Helps to clear acne.
- Makes skin velvety soft.
- Doesn't contain SLS.

Cons:

- Might not remove heavy makeup if not used properly and wiped off with a cloth.

This is currently my favourite cleanser. It is imperrative to follow the directions, however for best results. I prefer to appy this to dry skin and rub in small cirlces for at least 30 seconds and then remove it all with a wet washcloth. This has done wonders for the tone and health of my complexion and I my breakouts are very minor now if any.

Pros:

I have used this product for 12 years now, and obviously love it. I have had acne problems, but nothing major, so I'm not going to dispute the claims of others on this site, but I feel that it is the most non-irritating cleanser I've ever used.

Cons:

No cons, just wanted to say more positive about this product. My skin looks great and I always get compliments on it. I've referred numerous people to Spectro Jel that have not looked back. I get my family to bring me bottles from Canada.

This product is the bomb! I have not tried all of the variations, but the three that I've used I absolutely cannot do without. To those that complain of skin irritation or increased oiliness...I believe that it is probably from the change-over from your old brand. I think this product (as any) deserves a longer trial, and perhaps used after taking a week off of your regular brand. Reviews on other sites support my claim that Spectro Jel is the most gentle product on the market. The reason it doesn't lather is because it has no sulfates (which are simply added to other products to make them lather and make the user feel like he/she is getting deeper cleansing, when in reality it's worse for you)

Purple or Blue?
There're two types of Spectro Jel Cleanser for Blemish Prone Skin. One with Fragrance Free and another with Lightly Scented. So will the lightly scented version cause any breakouts? I looked up the ingredients and they both contain the same ingredients except "Parfum" which only the lightly scented version contains. Let me know if anyone here has used both and did one work better than the other. Here's the link for Lightly Scented Spectro - [link edited out] and here's Fragrance Free - [link edited out]

I personally have found the scented version to be better. I dont know why but I felt cleaner and my skin looked better when I used the scented one

the purple one is your best bet if you want to avoid any chance of irritation.

Pros:

Great for sensitive skin
Doesn't dry out skin
Clears acne
Different types for different skin
Doesn't break moisture barrier
Leaves skin soft and clean

Cons:

A bit pricey
smell

I have struggled with acne for a while, but it got worst once I entered High School. I literally tried EVERYTHING in skin care, it all bothered my skin and I have sensitive skin, all the other products didn't have different cleansers it was one or you couldn't find one. I went to my local pharmacy and asked the experts on what would work for my sensitive combination skin, they handed me Spectro jel and said "Try this, You'll love it.", And I DID!! Bottom line is, if you are like me I can say you'll love it!

Pros:

- Gentle
- Non-irritating
- SLS- and paraben-free
- No fragrance or dye
- Doesn't dry out your skin

Cons:

- Doesn't exfoliate and doesn't remove all make-up

All the soaps I've tried in the past have done more harm for my skin than good; they dried out my skin, irritated it with harsh chemicals, etc. Spectro doesn't clean the surface of my skin as well as other soaps did, but it does prevent my pores from getting clogged, and more importantly it protects my skin's natural moisture, so my skin doesn't get flaky and start breaking out afterward. If you're looking for a gentle cleanser, I strongly recommend this product.

Pros:

Gentle
Clears acne
Doesn't dry out skin

Cons:

Doesn't exfoliate

Spectro has saved my skin on many occasions, i love it. The only thing is that it doesn't exfoliate or get into the pores as much as other cleansers so I use a sephora scrubbing brush with it a few days a week and it cleared my acne up perfectly. Its perfect for using with Retin-A or other perscription medication for acne. Be patient with it
