Pros:

Cheap, works fast, works well, doesn't contain other ingredients that will irritate skin or clog pores.

Cons:

Slightly drying.

I'm not sure what compelled me to try calamine lotion on my face for my acne, just a hunch I guess. But I did try it about a year ago and was so pleased with the results that I continued using as a face mask at night. It doesn't totally prevent acne, as I still get pimples here and there. But, it really helps get rid of them quickly. Also, the continued use of this product seems to have helped keep my skin clearer of blackheads! I can see how it might be a little drying for some, but I have oily skin so that is not a problem for me. For breakouts I have found that first applying a salicylic acid gel to the face, and then applying calamine lotion (you have to kinda mix it in on your face) works fabulously. Definitely worth a try!

Pros:

Safe for sensitive skin, effective at treating acne, dminishes pimples and redness and most importantly, its CHEAP! Doesn't dry out your skin like other topical treatments.

Cons:

You look a little weird before bedtime.

Everyone should at least try it. I felt like I had tried everything that could have worked so when someone suggested Calamine Lotion to me, I thought no way. After a couple of days my acne looks much better than any other product I've ever tried, and I've tried a lot! I'm definitely going to keep using it.

Pros:

Great stuff; gets rid of emergency problems fast and is even great for bad suffers! I do not suffer bad from acne and I would probably consider it light most of the time. It heals post inflammatory problems, or red marks! <333

Cons:

There are no cons to something so cheap and 10x more effective than any Proactive type crap on the market.

Great stuff, give it a go and you will not be disappointed. There is a clear kind that is generic from my grocery that I use. I recommend that. It will not turn skin pink. It leaves what seems like a mucus membrane looking thing upon the skin that peels off easy, almost like a mask so it's great for night time wear. Incredibly soothing, gentle, does not burn skin probably like other Acne products. I think the best pro about it is the healing of the red marks to normal skin tone.

Pros:

Works quickly to reduce swelling, irritation, and pain of acne. I used the caladryl clear version, so there is no white or pink residue. Within minutes my skin felt softer, cooler and less irritated.

Cons:

cant think of any

I have been using a daily acne scrub the last 5 days, and my skin is a wreck! It went from 4 or 5 tiny blemishes on my forehead, and several around my mouth and chin, to over 25 blemishes on my forehead!!!! OMG ...the battle got even bigger...I did not use the acne wash today, instead just cleaned my skin with apple cider vinegar and water, then applied the caladryl !! OMG at the improvement within 15 minutes, the blemishes are smaller, the redness is not at noticable and my skin is not hurting and burning

Pros:

Inexpensive, soothes skin, reduces swelling and pain of cystic acne

Cons:

Can't be worn under makeup.

I use a clear version of calamine lotion. It has the shiny look of one of those peel off facial masks when it dries. However, you can't use it under makeup because it does tend to peel off as you apply the make up. If you don't use makeup, you could probably get away with wearing a light layer of it. This is the best thing I've found so far to help with the incredible pain of cystic acne. I think the topical zinc is what helps with the healing. BP only makes my acne worse -- this helps but does not seem to cure it. Of course, I have severe acne and am getting ready to take another course of Accutane for it (10 years after my first course) -- but I am amazed at how much it helps to reduce swelling and pain associated with the cysts. Once I start the Accutane, I'm not going to use it, but it has been a godsend for me until I am able to start the Accutane again.

Pros:

reduces pimple size redness and driess it out.

Cons:

if you use it wrong you wont get results!

So i had a breakout out of nowhere and had no clue what to do. So I started using calamine lotion and nothing happened. I had been applying it all over my face in big amounts. So i stopped using it. Then I decided to use it applying it with a cotton ball only to areas that needed it and the results have been fantastic! In just a day the change was huge. I have also been using it with hydrogen peroxide which I also apply with a cotton ball. I think when it comes to calamine less is more. At least for me (:

Pros:

Low cost, available at local drug store, easy to apply with cotton ball

Cons:

Pink chalky look after applying, so only use at night.

It helped my sons acne. We used it on the t-zone where he had breakouts. Calms the skin, reduces the red inflammed look of acne. My son is very happy about his appearance.
