Pros:

Tightens Skin
Reduces Redness
Feels Great!

Cons:

At first it might make your skin a little more red than usual, but it goes away quickly.
I can sting a little when you apply it.

I've always had oily skin, and I've had acne for awhile, I used to have moderate acne, but it is slowly getting better as I mature. Baking soda is amazing, at first I wrote it off as ineffective because after I washed it off my skin looked redder than before. But then I started using it again and have been for a week or so. It's GREAT! it actually reduces redness and helps to heal. I suggest putting it on before bed, it tightens your skin so you're better protected at night from oil and bacteria from your pillow case (and therefore don't have to change it out every week to prevent it). Alone it can't cure acne (at least not for me) but it is very helpful.

Pros:

-Brought white heads to the surface quickly

Cons:

- Made skin red (temporarily)

I forgot to pick up my topical acne prescription before the long weekend, and my skin breaks out as soon as I stop using it, so I resorted to baking soda. It works in a pinch, I had two pimples that the paste I made of water and baking soda dried out and brought to the surface. I recommend it as a last resort if you're out of your usual products.

Pros:

-Reduced redness in acne
-Made my skin feel nice and soft
-Lightened acne scars

Cons:

-Face seemed more pale after using it

I've had pretty bad ance since I was in 6th grade and have been on multiple pills/cremes from my derm and nothing has worked as well as the baking soda. I'm sooo impressed with it. My only complaint is that my face seems more pale but it might just be in my head.

Pros:

It made my skin smooth, and got rid of breakouts the first week I used it

Cons:

Stings, redness, dryness, caused me to really breakout

When I first started using it it seemed like I finally found the solution to my acne problems. My skin was the smoothest it had ever been and the pimples I started faded really fast. I felt like a million bucks. I used it every night. I would make a paste with it and rub on my face for about a minute and rinse it off. I was a little careless with it though. I found I had not completely rinsed it off some mornings. Also, at this time I began taking vitamin D, (2000 iu). Then the second week rolled around. I noticed my skin was starting to get bumpy around my temples and on my forehead. Initially I did not think much of, but then It started to really breakout. It has been the worse breakout I have had in a long. Usually, I breakout with one our two pimples in areas, but now I breakout in clusters of small pimples that. These areas have become very rough and blotchy. I have stopped using the baking but not the vitamin D. It seems like it is getting a little better.

Pros:

very visible result! cheap!

Cons:

none

wow yest was my first attempt of using this. Was very skeptical at first and I also worried it will irritate my face. Hence,I started the allergy test on my hand and neck for 5mins and everything was fine:p I mixed 1 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water, this is for the cleansing. After my face was cleansed, I mixed 2 tablespoon of baking soda and 1 teaspoon of water to make the paste then apply on those acne spots I was worried as my face looked very red after I washed it off but this morning when I woke up, I was amazed by the results! Wow, just one use, my face looked brighter and some of the marks have been lightened! AMAZING

Pros:

Very affordable, doesn't leave crusty dry patches around blemishes, began working within a few days, exfoliates well, a little goes a long way. A & H baking soda also comes in a plastic shaker bottle perfect for keeping in the shower.

Cons:

None

I mix a sprinkle with my liquid face wash each time I wash my face. I used to use BP and salicylic acic treatments until I found this natural solution on a web posting. Also found info that says BP has been linked to free radical formation, similar to not using sunblock outdoors. I now have an affordable skin regimine that actually works on my adult breakouts!!

Pros:

improved texture, fewer nodules, red marks fade more quickly

Cons:

not 100%

I use as paste mixed with water and rub gently. Then AC Vinegar with water as toner. This makes my skin soft, my red marks fade more quickly, my number of nodules are reduced, and my overall texture is improved. I used without the ACV for several weeks; not as much clearing of the skin and it wasn't as soft. However, ACV alone does nothing for me. Also use murad products. Not 100% clear, but with this combo I get results as good as when I was on 4 different RX for acne (antibiotic oral AND topical, differin, birth control). I appreciate the lack of side effects.

Pros:

There are many pros to this alternative (Which shouldn't be called an alternative but rather a treatment on its own). Redness has really slowly "crept" away. Blackheads faded. Pimples halting. Beautiful skin. Excellent exfoliant. Cheap.

Cons:

Sorta stings your face if you are not used to it. Salty, don't get it around your mouth line.

This was interesting, I must admit. My face is extremely severe, cysts rose to pickers acne to blackheads and white papules, you name it. I had it. This is miraculous. I tried ProActive, Clean and CLear, Neutragena, AcneFree, you name it. I used them for a good 4 months at a itme, just to have my face half clear. I used this product with Apple Cidar vinegar to even out the PH value of the product on my skin. My face is now almost clear. I use this solution in small amounts and I'm gradually getting to use a mask in about a week. I use this one to two times daily, depending on how oily my face is. I ingest Apple Cidar Vinegar and put some on my face (beware, You'll smell like sock, be careful). The solution is diluted, and i'm SLOWLY and GRADUALLY going to more potent solutions via water. For TREATMENT I use Green Tea Extract as a spritz on my face with water. For Moisturizer, I have not found one yet. My intake of water is drastically improved to 6 glasses per day. Getthatbloodpumping!

Pros:

Exfoliated my skin unlike anything I've ever used before! No more black-heads, redness and no more pain! Affected skin eventually cleared leaving a "baby soft" complexion. I'm still in shock here, a real answered prayer!

Cons:

At first it will burn a little and for the first week or so I thought it was doing nothing but making things worse. I actually broke out more. The strength of the initial exfoliating process brought everything to the surface real quick for me.

100% believer here! What works for me (although I hope it works for you): wash face with soap and water or Neutrogena face wash to open up pores a little. Then I mix a small amount of Baking Soda with water and apply a mask nightly for 10-15 minutes. I follow-up with Neutrogena's "On-the-Spot" treatment and use a moisturizer (A Must) as needed through-out the day. Some might consider this a little much but then again we are built differently. I just stuck with it from there on out w/great results. After 15+ yrs of acne I must have spent thousands on products like Accutane, Proactiv, and many, many more! Either they haven't worked or I just can't afford to "order" more, you know. Give it a try, what have you got to lose? 1.00? I hope this review reaches some one they way similar reviews on this website reached me. Thank you acne.org for your information and resources are unmatched! Best of luck to you all out there in search of "something that works". I hope you find it!
