Pros:

Reduces blind pimples QUICKLY, acne red marks are fading, heals acne, sometimes gives skin nice matte finish, great smell, CHEAP AND EFFECTIVE!!

Cons:

SLIGHT tight feeling, but not much. Sometimes feels like it adds oil (I have an oily face so idk)

Only cost $4 for 24oz. Use with S.A. Doesn't work perfect, but pretty good and great for cost!! My face is much clearer and I LOVE IT!!

Pros:

Reduced redness a lot and made skin feel smooth. After using it for a few weeks my redness was less noticeable

Cons:

Seemed to really tighten and dry out my skin. Applying after washing caused flaking and dryness

Possibly good for people with really oily skin... too drying for me. I loved the idea of using natural Aloe Vera but didn't quite cut it for me.

Pros:

Doesn't clog pores, pores look smaller.
Very cheap. Skin tone appears more even in colour when I wake up. Fragrance Free. Absorbs quickly. Pump bottle. Cools the skin.

Cons:

Stings the eyes even if you don't put any around the eye area. Smell might take some getting used to.

CHEAP. Skin feels smoother, looks more even coloured. The Gel soothes inflamination caused by acne so they heal faster. Doesn't clog pores and sinks into skin fast with a cooling sensation. And again, it's extremely cheap! Makes the whole 5 min eye sting routine every night worthwhile. Can be used in conjunction with BP gel. I got this in Canada about $7.00CND for 500mL.

Pros:

No fragrance, no colour, 100% pure aloe vera, absorbs fast and doesn't leave me with a shiny face or films. Very cheap! I bought a 567g pump at Walmart for 6 bucks.

Cons:

Don't apply it too close to your eyes. It has no alcohol or other harmful chemicals, but it may sting a little bit for 1-2 minutes if it gets too close to your eyes.

It may be a little drying for some people, so you can use a moisturizer AFTER you apply the gel. Anyway, I can feel it healing my red marks and shrinking my zits. I use this twice a day and really like it.

Pros:

Very inexpensive approach to maintaining skin.

Cons:

very drying if exessively used.

Those in Canada can find this in the tanning aisle @ Walmart. Also ask the pharmacist in grocery stores they will show you where to find it.

Good for those who have picking problems
I've suffered through acne for over a decade. I pretty much knew early on it would be a problem for me since my mother always suffered from it and my sisters did as well. To no surprise I started breaking out on my forehead in the 6th grade. I'm 25 now. I've never had the type to cause large cystic spots (minus some terrible hormonal breakouts during early teenhood) but more the type that spreads quickly as blackheads or pustules along the jaw line and cheeks, and of course hyper pigmentation/ scarring that lasts forever. My largest issue would be going at my skin, and trying to pop the never ending blackheads. You think you might be fixing the problem but in reality you're just aggravating the skin more and causing the acne to spread. I have combination skin, and live in New England which means I'm usually suffering from terrible dry spots around my chin and mouth during the winter and perpetual oil in the summer. A few months ago I went for a facial, hoping the esthetician could help me out with flaky, oily, pimple ridden skin. I've tried so many products. Proactive, tea tree, oils as moisturisers such as jojoba and rose hips, witch hazel as toner, the Lue system, lush products, cleansing milks to acne scrubs, any drug store brand and basically everything at whole foods as well. I thought she'd do a lot of extractions because my skin seemed so bad. She didn't do any at all, she simply suggested I start using aloe as a moisturiser, that it's very helpful for those who have combination skin and her daughter uses it with great success. To me that says a lot seeing as she probably could have convinced me to buy her expensive salon products. It's been two months now, I've controlled the picking and use 98% aloe gel every time wash my face. I use about one pump, and follow with the acne.org jojoba based moisturiser that I've had for like 2 years. This seems to work for me. I don't always have time for toners and facial masks. I don't use the other acne.org products because I think they're too drying and way too expensive (the set I received was a gift). Basically if you have the type of acne that is noticeable but not always 'poppable' and seems persistent AF, I would recommend aloe. If you're the type of person who is dry but will break out from using even the Simple brand moisturisers, I recommend aloe. If you're a PICKER and you can't help it, I recommend aloe. I use basic $4 clean and clear scrub now (switched from buying the philosophy scrub cuz $40) and I've seen vast improvement. It's also mid feb and I haven't suffered ANY dryness this winter, like at all. Wearing any sort of pressed powder over foundation was impossible for me during winters of the past. I'm not dry, I'm not oily, and I don't have anything to pick which means I'm not really breaking out anymore. I say give this a try if you haven't yet, and try to be mindful of touching your face. I picked up my bottle of gel at whole foods for about $6 with my employee discount and I've hardly made a dent in it. It takes a little while for your skin to get used to it as a moisturiser but it will transition. It doesn't feel sticky or oily either which is great. I can sometimes skip the jojoba moisturiser and just wait a couple of hours for my nature face oils to complement the aloe. Obv if you are putting makeup on you want to moisturise and prime further. It works guys, I say give it a chance!

great at controlling oil
really helped to cut down oil on my face, probably because the gel contains salicylic acid, and also pretty gentle.

Such an important supplement to acne treatment!
Did aloe alone cure my acne? No. But it definitely was an important factor to clearing my skin. I used to get painful cystic acne on my cheeks which I've now found out is because of my inflammatory response to stimuli (sensitive skin) which is also linked to my eczema as well. I would rub aloe on after applying my benzoyl peroxide. Aloe is known for its anti inflammatory response and healing qualities. The aloe soothed my skin and allowed for my acne treatment to work faster and also prevent scars. My skin cleared dramatically in a month and it's not only smooth but I have no flakes and dry skin problems like many people seem to suffer from using benzoyl peroxide daily.

Pros:

Aloe has much the same genetic structure as humans, so it is extremely beneficial to the healing process of scars
It feels cooling and soothing
Very natural remedy that has been in use for hundreds of years
You can even have your own aloe plant as a source

Cons:

Makes skin feel tight (which feels bizarre)
May clog pores and cause blackheads

I really like using aloe on skin rashes, irritation, etc as it is extremely soothing. It helps cool the skin and encourages you not to scratch if you are having problems with itchiness. However, it does leave the skin feeling tight which in my opinion is a bad thing - its a weird feeling that is hard to accurately describe unless the other person you are describing it to has experienced it as well. It clogged my pores a bit, though, which wasn't helpful. I suppose you could use it as a spot treatment on scars - gently smoothing it onto the scar and moving your fingers circularly may be beneficial because the aloe would naturally help heal and the movement would generate some circulation which stimulates the skin cells to get movin'. However if you are rough you will cause more irriation. Bottom line is be careful.
