To The Silicone Sensitive: Beware
I was hoping to find a silver lining with this one. I have this AHA+ multiple chances and have broken out each time. Nothing horrendous, but definitely some nasty little bumps and tons of clogged pores. I was really hoping this would work as it's hard to find a lotion that compliments my cloggy skin. On the upside, I absolutely loved the moisture and the softness this added to my skin.I am almost certain I wouldn't have any trouble if it wasn't for the magical ingredient "Cyclomethicone". If you are extremely sensitive to this ingredient or any of the "cones" this may not work for you. Silicone sensitivity is rarely talked about. And unfortunately, it's in almost everything! Consider ditching this ingredient from your face lotions, washes, ointments etc. and see if you a see a difference! I sure do.

This product made my skin break out for a few weeks after I started using it, which I have had happen in the past with other strong exfoliants. It takes time to notice positive results from it but if you give it a chance it is worth it. I have been using it for about two months and my skin initially broke out repeatedly but has finally cleared.

Gentle, versatile and effective exfoliant...
I am dealing with some very mild (yet highly irritating acne) in my 40's. After a trip to my dermatologist, I started doing my own homework on the recommendations he gave me, and ended up (again) at Acne.org. I thought I'd try this AHA before trying the $$$ routine that was recommended to me. Only a few weeks into it, so far, so good. This Acne.org AHA+ is definitely exfoliating my skin effectively and gently. Currently I use this product after my PM routine which is: Wash with Acne.org facial cleanser (using Acne.org Jojoba Oil for my eye make-up remover first). I then mix a few drops of the Jojoba Oil with my CeraVe PM moisturizer and apply that to my face and neck. After the moisturizer absorbs, I work a dime sized amount into my face and neck down to my décolleté (avoiding my eye area and lips). I let that absorb into my skin. I apply it over my moisturizer to buffer my skin, as I want to start out as careful and gentle as possible to see how this product reacts with my skin and to see how little I can use to achieve the results I hope for. My skin feels smoother and looks less 'congested' than before. This is an economical way to buy such an effective product. The higher percentage of Glycolic Acid make this more versatile, as you can cut it or use it full-strength (less often/2-3xs wkly).

two weeks in
Burns and itches a little when I apply it but it's over a week and I see results. Have bad cystic acne on my back and get occasional breakouts on my face. Cystic acne is subsiding already. And face has stayed clear. Try this out if benzoyl peroxide didn't work well for you. Also I've only been using the this product. No combination of products.

My Face Did Not Like This
Dan's AHA+ never worked well for me. I have sensitive skin and using this on top of BP makes my face BURN all night long. I do have red marks, but would rather wait until my skin heals itself (hopefully it does). My face felt very sticky and gross after applying AHA+ and would itch and peel all night. I was also concerned about the sunburn risk with using a chemical exfoliater and decided not to risk it (I do apply sunscreen in the morning but in order to be safe it should be reapplied every two hours, something I just cannot do with my work). Did not work on chest and back cysts either.

Pros:

Smells nice
Seemed to work at first after initial spot test

Cons:

Now when I put it on my skin, it itches and starts causing bumps, which the next day become cysts :-(

I hate to give this a 'meh' rating, because this is an issue with AHA+ rather than this particular product, but just wanted to let others know that this may come up. Other people say it too: [link edited out]

What I do before using AHA is put on an aspirin mask (4 crushed up aspirin) for about 20 minutes and then use this. I do this every other night, give or take. The result is probably the best skin I've had in years. The combination of salicylic acid and AHA seems to do wonders when it comes to active pimples and even red marks and scars. Though the latter two takes considerably more time to see results. It does makes the skin red for a bit afterwards but that's part of the reason you use it at night. It'll also sting slightly as you apply it but that's normal for something that exfoliates. I've dealt with acne for well over a decade now and have tried more than a few products (including accutane twice) and this one-two punch is something I can't do without now. Regular aspirin costs nothing and Dan's AHA is fairly cheap as well considering the size of it. Give it a try if nothing else is working. Good luck (:

Pros:

stops breakouts
clears skin from acne
dries fast

Cons:

light smell
not for daytime use

After trying practically every over-the-counter product on the market, with no results, i thought i should give this one a try after reading all the good reviews on this site. I'm glad i did. It's a great product and the only one that really worked for me. I use it at night before i go to bed, it dries really fast and the smell doesn't bother me at all. I've been using it for 2 months now and i can really see a difference in my skin. no more acne, no more breakouts. my skin cleared up after the first week of use. I apply it at night after i wash my face with 5% BP acne cleanser. the only downside to it is that it gives your face a light glow so i don't use it during daytime.

Pros:

Huge tube...so much cheaper than Alpha Hydrox. No sticky after feel like Alpha Hydrox oil free has. Super smooth under mineral make-up.

Cons:

Faint smell...can't pin point what it is but it's temporary and not bad at all.

I ordered the whole regimine after pricing out what I was paying for OTC products. So much cheaper but I wanted to wait and see if the program would work for me before I ordered because I have done Proactive, Dermatologist recommended stuff and Rx's including very expensive $175 a tube gel that did exactly nothing. I think ProActive is just too harsh between the BP cleanser, astringent toner and BP treatment. I had immediate results at first but than my face just got irritated. So far the super gentle cleanser approach of this program is working well. I found that you need to follow the directions to the letter to avoid irritation...10 seconds to wash, no wash cloth, wait in between products, etc. etc. and do not forget to use a moisturizer.

Pros:

Left my skin looking and feeling great!

Cons:

None so far

I have been using this product regularly for about a few weeks and I am amazed at the results. I have tried EVERYTHING!! Prescription meds worth hundreds of dollars just to make my skin flaky and dull. This brightens my skin and made my moderate acne look like I had basically none at all. I'm hoping that in a few more weeks my hyper-pigmentation will be completely gone! Right on Dan!

Pros:

I have a lot of redness in my face, and AHA has worked wonders to tone down the blotchiness. It also gets rid of any old scars or discoloration. And, as an added bonus that I discovered with this product, it firms up my skin.

Cons:

You may not be too fond of the smell--it's hard to describe. It has kind of a vinegar-like aroma.

This product is amazing and unlike anything I have ever used before. My skin looks clean, fresh, and has developed a natural glow. Thanks, Dan!!!
