Pros:

Can help reduce the size of spots

Cons:

Not very effective after a while
Dries out skin
Can sting
Small tube

I haven't had much success with this product unfortunately. A much better product is 'germolene' which is also cheaper.

Pros:

-It reduced the size, but only with the first use
-It doesn't smell bad
-It doesn't sting at all

Cons:

-It made the acne more red than before
-Didn't work very well
-Made my face dry

I am fourteen and I used to only get one or two pimples on my nose, but recently I have had breakouts on my nose, the right side of my mouth, and especially my forehead. My mom went out and bought me the clean and clear acne spot treatment and I followed the directions, but it did not do much of anything to get rid of the acne. This stuff dried out my face on the right side of my mouth and made my forehead and nose really oily and red. I had really high hopes for this, but it did not work very well at all. I do admit though that the acne on my forehead did reduce in size.

Pros:

Stings so you know its working

Cons:

No quick results

Takes over 4-5 days for pimple to reduce size. No speedy zap or anything, doesn't work very well on me and I have very light acne..when I get spots it's 2 or 3 really noticeable ones so this is useless. I'd suggest something with quicker results but so fat this is the best I've got. :(

Pros:

-Brings under-the-skin pimples to a head
-Stings so I feel like it's working
-Smells rather pleasant
-Small amount of salicylic acid (non-irritating)

Cons:

-Results not immediate
-Requires a lot of product to see immediate results
-Can irritate eyes

I use this product along with my normal skin treatment when I need a boost which is bp based, so it's like a bp and sa team-up. When I have an under-the-skin zit that absolutely refuses to come to a head, I put a glob of the spot treatment on it overnight. If it doesn't work once, it works with repeated use. This isn't a product that guarantees immediate miraculous results, but it DOES work in tandem with many over-the-counter routines because it's gentle. The smell might have you believe otherwise, but don't be fooled!

Pros:

dries out/shrinks active breakouts
no offensive odor
can be used anywhere, non irritating

Cons:

expensive
tricky to use with makeup, especially if you use powder/mineral foundation

OK, i've been using this product for years on and off. for a while i was using the acne.org regimen system and that was a disaster. then i discovered that ADULT acne is NOT the same as teen acne, and does not respond to certain acne medicines, who knew? so i used to have *very* severe cystic acne. i tried a bunch of other systems including proactive, they all made it worse. this product seemed to be the only thing that was doing any good, so i stopped all other products and began pretty much dousing my face in salicylic acid. i apply this very generously, and i also use it on my shoulders/back/chest. i couple it with L'Oreal 360 anti breakout with an extra dose of salicylic acid. this actually isn't as drying as i'd like it to be. i have *EXTREMELY* oily skin, and i go hardcore with this stuff twice a day and my skin has never felt dry.

Pros:

-Cheap

Cons:

-Stings
-Dries out skin SEVERELY
-Doesn't Work
-More redness

Omg I agree with Jared and Katie!!! Mine grew "mold" too! Anyways, this stuff does NOT work. I used tiny, tiny, dabs of it on spots. They got extremely red, irritated, and flaky. I literally had to slather it in petroleum jelly to get rid of the flakiness...not a pretty sight. It didn't even get rid of the acne. Yes, it's cheap but it doesn't really work. I have no idea why all the mags rave about it (I read about it in Seventeen.) God, don't waste your money on this.

Pros:

An *essential* part of my regimen to keep my acne controlled and skin smooth and radiant.

Cons:

Do not use according to the company's marketing/instructions, which are worthless. See comments below for best results. Best for *controlling* acne, although it does help clear a flare up.

Remember to use SPF because salicylic acid makes your skin more susceptible to UV damage.

I get remarkable results using this after washing in the morning. I splash my face with water, then use a "two-pea-size" blob to cover my face for two minutes. It spreads easier and is more active with a bit of water. Then I wash it off, so I get all the clarifying benefits and none of the irritation! I brush my teeth during the two minute wait, so it does not make the morning routine longer. I also use an AHA serum (2 minutes on, time to floss, wash off) and then moisturize/SPF. At night, I just wash, moisturize, and use benzoyl peroxide as needed. I learned this from The Acne Cure, a book co-authored by a physician. It works better for me than topical prescriptions! I highly recommend buying that book. Among other things, it recommends 10 minutes with a cold pack on your acne every day and night to reduce inflammation until it's controlled. You must not skip this. Do this religiously for 6 weeks and you will be amazed. I don't ice anymore, it's not a forever thing. I constantly get comments about how flawless my skin is, and no one believes that I had problems with armies of giant zits. I found Dan's products at acne.org while looking for more economical products for my regimen. He does not sell salicylic acid, so I continue to use Neutrogena Advantage On the Spot salicylic gel. I changed to Dan's cleanser which I think is the best of all I have tried. I alternate his AHA+ moisturizer with my old AHA serum (which, honestly, is very effective but way too darn expensive; MD Formulation Sensitive Skin Serum). And I use his benzoyl peroxide gel, which is superior anything else I have found. I still prefer my own moisturizer, but it is more expensive, so I alternate. I also sometimes add the jojoba oil he sells to a moisturizer for around my eyes at night. Good luck with your Regimen!
