Pros:

A nice cleanser
Makes your face feel fresh after applying
Moisturizer was helpful

Cons:

Didn't clear up any acne..or prevent any from starting

It felt nice at first, and made me think this product might actually work compared to everything else i've tried...but after almost two months of using it, i realized my acne never cleared up and it certainly did not prevent any breakouts. And usually i never get huge zits, i tend to have a good amount of small ones, and suddenly i had huge, bright red ones EVERYWHERE!

Pros:

Good BP gel

Cons:

Irritating
Expensive

The BP gel is nice, and works well (in a pinch) with the acne.org regimen. I found the cleanser to be irritating. It always felt good to exfoliate with it, but in the end it just ended up causing more acne. I used Proactive for years-- teenage years and early twenties-- and as soon as it would clear up some of my acne, it would just cause more in a few days/weeks. It worked occasionally, but I was never able to get completely clear with Proactiv.

Pros:

Skin cleared within first month
Spot treatments worked at the beginning
Dries out skin

Cons:

First time use gave red irritation and itchiness
Bleaches towels
Stopped working after a while and made acne worse

I used Proactiv Solutions for about 5 years, at the time it seemed like the only thing that actually worked on my face by clearing my acne. But I noticed that once I started using it, I ALWAYS had to use it. I got redness for the first week, but after that it cleared up my acne. Over time, it dried out my skin a lot! My whole face was flaky, and I was using the Daily Moisterizer. Because of how dry my face was, I went through the bottle very quick, so I bought new moisterizer quite often and it wasnt cheap! I've read your supposed to switch cleansers every few months so your face doesnt become immune to it, so I tried doing that but every time I use anything other than Proactiv, I broke out like crazy! But for some odd reason, it got to a point where I switched back to Proactiv, hoping it would clear the acne caused by the previous cleanser but instead, it made it even worse, my face was filled with acne, no one spot of my face didnt have a pimple. I then switched to Biore Deep Pore Cleanser instead and my face cleared up right away. but as soon as I even tried to use Proactiv, I once again broke out. It wasnt just a pimple here and there, it was A LOT of pimples. Spot treatment (Refining Mask) used to work for the first few months, then it stopped! If anything, I think it makes the pimple worse. The pimple(s) will become more red/painful. So would I recommend it? No, and why? Because its a short term effect, and once you start using it, you cant stop. If you stop, you'll break out, and if you start again, at one point you'll still break out. Im not sure if it would happen to everyone, but thats what happened to me. Don't be fooled by the celebrities on the commercials!! There are plenty of other products out there, where you can spend half the amount of money on it and it'll work way better than Proactiv.

Pros:

works for a few weeks

Cons:

after 3 days of using proavtiv, I saw a huge improvement. However, from then on, my skin never got any better, or any worse. I realized that after 1 month of no improvement that proactiv was just a waste of my time.

DO NO WASTE YOUR TIME

Pros:

- Leaves skin feeling soft
- Gets rid of a little acne

Cons:

- Expensive
- Doesn't work swell as TV advert says it does
- Doesn't get rid of most of my acne
- Lotions give me a really oily feeling after 30 minuets

I wouldn't advise getting this product if you still haven't tried other cheaper products. I stopped using it a week ago and started using different products and my face looks so much healthier already. It didn't work for me but that doesn't mean it won't work for you. MY ROUTINE I have very oily/blemish prone skin. My new routine is - St Ives Apricot Scrub - Garnier Blackhead clearing scrub - Boots Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Cleansing & Toning Lotion - Garnier Spot fighting 24hr moisturiser

Pros:

Cons:

your scars will darken ( it took me some years to realize that it was proactive)
your acne level clears up at first but plateaus and stays like that.

doesn't work.

Pros:

Love the moisturizer.

Cons:

Way overpriced.

As a system, I'd pass. The cleanser is abrasive and causes discomfort and increased oil production. Toner is an extra useless step. However... love the moisturizer! I don't use it as part of my daily routine, but it's perfect if I'm having a bad skin week. Not moisturizing enough for me for daily use, but stops a breakout in it's tracks, feels great, dries quickly. I always keep some on hand. System is a 1, moisturizer is a 5.

Pros:

None really. Cleared up my acne a little bit. The refining mask was great for minimizing pore size and zapping blackheads though!

Cons:

It did not do anything! It was a hassle to use and barely cleared my skin.

Proactiv has such a huge reputation for being the most helpful acne solution out there, but it did nothing! It did not help at all. The refining mask, however, was very helpful by minimizing pore size and getting rid of blackheads.

Pros:

- Worked well enough on uncomplicated acne
- The moisturizer is nice

Cons:

- Very irritating
- Overpriced outside of the states
- Hard to find in stores (can only find it in Canada at one or two specialty kiosks around my city)

I'm 24 now, and started using this when I was about 14. It worked fine for the first couple of years. It kept me from breaking out if I used it consistently, but it didn't do much to improve the look of my skin. It was hard for me to find, aside from mail ordering it, and was pricey, only lasting a month and a half or so at $60 per kit. When I was 16-17 my acne went from being about oily teenage skin, to unbalanced hormones, and pro-activ did nothing to help or prevent my intense pre-period breakouts. I stopped using this product and went on birth control and the Gentle wash/medicate/moisturize regimen. I find it weird that the basic kit does not provide or recommend a moisturizer, considering they make a decent one (You can get a special kit that has the moisturizer, but it is not the basic one). Also, the toner is completely unnecessary, and is more of an astringent than anything.
