Pros:

-Works relatively fast
-Clears most pimples
-Clears redness
-Skin feels fresh
-Easy to use
-Refining Mask is great!

Cons:

-Does dry the face, but it's nothing a good moisturizer can't fix.
-Takes a long time to clear acne scars and cystic acne.

I've used this product for a month probably. During the first week that I had been using it, I started reading reviews about it and was terrified to continue using it because of all the horrible things people wrote about it. But I decided to continue using it, and I'm glad I did. I'm 18, and I've had moderate acne since my sophomore year of high school. I tried over the counter products, and nothing really worked that well. Within the first week, Proactiv has reduced redness tremendously, and has gotten rid of most of the bumps. I have so much more confidence. The key is to use the 3 step system everyday, and every night if you're skin can handle it. I only use it once a day, and that works for me. After doing the 3 steps, use a good moisturizer and use all over face to prevent dryness and flaking. If you wear foundation, use a mineral foundation so it wont clog your pores. This really is a great product, so don't let the bad reviews get you down. Proactiv has given me my confidence back, and I'm so much happier. Just keep in mind that it the time it takes to start working may vary from person to person, so don't quit within the first 2 weeks. And it may not work for everyone, because everyone has different skin, and acne could get a little worse before it gets better. But I would definitely give this a try!

Cons:

okay, well... proactiv did work. good. my skin is normally sensitive. & dry... but, i used a moisturizer afterwards, & after about a month or so... it started to really work! for a while the only thing that worked was neutrogena system. & it was amazing. i loved it, but after a few months, (2) it stopped working. it didn't make my skin worse but didn't clear it up. but, it did work. & proactiv, i just started using it, & so far... it's maked my skin really clear. i recommend it. don't listen to these other people. -retarded much? i have sensitive, occasionally dry, skin & it worked for me. diddddd dry out skin, but nothing moisturizer can't fix(: i say, go for it(:

Pros:

Clean smell, works if/when your consistant, works very well with oily skin. It lasts about a month and half, maybe longer it just depends, if you don't waste it.

Cons:

You have to be consistant with it. ( Thats not really a bad thing, but some people have trouble with that. ) It's exspensive but lasts if you don't waste it.

Its Amazing.

Pros:

-feels awesome
-extra lotion at night help tremendously
-it works..for me at least
-gets mailed right to you
-face mask is awesome

Cons:

-expensive
-if you don't use enough lotion your skin is super dry...thats why everyone on here is saying their skin is dry. USE MORE LOTION
-you run out of the toner before everything else

in my case..it took about 3 months to see results. my skin has been pretty bad since i was 14 and i'm now 20 and i'm still breaking out. however i think proactiv has actually worked for me. if i use it every night, i will wake up in the morning with no breakouts. but as we all know that is not reality..sometimes you can't wash your face every night..so my skin freaks out when its not washed. id recommend it.

Pros:

Cleared my skin immediately. Mind you, not very severe acne. Adult onset. Still in my 40s! I have been 'off' of it for about 8-9 months at suggestion of dermatologist's esthetician. They of course said it was crap and then started selling me Jan Marini products costing hundreds of dollars. The result: cyst-like acne returning. I am going back on Proactiv tonight!! Sick of waiting for a very expensive product to work. Oh, should also mention that I am also using Retin-A. Does nothing

Cons:

For the years that I used it I spent much of the time adjusting the amounts. Have to be very careful to use just the right amount of all three products for best result and no drying out. My skin is very oily so maybe that is why I didn't dry out much either.

Can't wait to get back on it!!! I have tried everything under the sun over that past 20+ years and nothing has worked as well as Proactiv.

Pros:

Gives me a much better complexion, my acne went from moderate to very light/practically nonexistent in about a month.

Cons:

If I discontinue use, my acne comes back. Also, this product really dries out my skin. I have alleviated this by using the product only once a day, and by using less harsh face washes (I only use the proactive lotion, I buy my own separate face wash and toner)

I have heard from many of my friends that this product didn't work for them. I am one of the lucky ones who it did work for. Like I said, I only use the lotion once a day and have formulated my own skin care regimen, in which I incorporate proactive. Since I don't use it that often, I also rarely have to buy it (about twice a year). I used to be extremely self conscious about my skin, and now I can go out in public without makeup and not even think twice about it. Everyone needs to come up with a skin care plan that works best for them. Fortunately for me, proactive has been my golden ticket to clear skin.

Pros:

Works very well
Reasonable price
Good customer service most of the time
Very good refund policy (60 days)

Cons:

Small containers (Doesn't last)
Refining lotion caused my skin to go oily if I apply it on all of my face and leave it for more than an hour.

I used to have moderate acne, but very big painful and swollen pimples. It was so bad and uncoverable. I have used everything, natural and chemical products and nothing worked. My cousins have used Proactiv for quite a few years and they were really happy with it so they recommended it to me. And now I am using it and really happy with it. There are times where I had completely clear skin, except for the scars I had but no pimples at all. I get occasional pimples every now and then but only 1 or 2, and not as often. You have to use Proactiv for a while to notice improvement. I have been using it for over a year now. For people who say it smells, it's not smelly at all, I don't know where they brought up the smell problem from. It does give you a tingly feeling when you apply the refining lotion, but that means it's working. For people who say it makes skin flaky, well don't apply the lotion on all your face, just the pimples or the area with acne. This is what I do to avoid dryness and flakiness. And I usually use the 5pack (Cleanser, refining lotion, refining mask, toner and moisturizer) and I used their tinting moisturizer when I go out as part of my makeup and sunscreen. So I would definitely recommend using it :-)

Pros:

Only thing I found that can clear my skin!

Cons:

Smell, Bleaches Towels

I have struggled with acne for 15 years. My skin is red and constantly burns, and covered in acne. I used to cake on foundation to try to hide it, and had no confidence. I finally tried Proactive, and within a week the redness and burning had gone done. 2 months and my acne was totally gone. I had even stopped wearing foundation! Recently I decided to find something more gentle. I tried many different products, and started breaking out again. I used Proactive to clear my skin up before trying something else. I have decided to go back to Proactive, even though it ruins my towels and sheets, and I have even lost a few shirts. To me having clear skin is worth it. I find using the sulfur mask helps cut down on the oiliness.

Pros:

Absolutely works but you MUST stick with it. The original version did not work for me but I used the Extra Strength version and overall it does a good job.

Cons:

The only issue is that I still have periodic breakouts but they are now where near what I had without Proactiv.

Overall a very good product and cost effective give its daily use- BUT you have to be consistent with it. For me, it did take several weeks before I saw significant results but the customer service staff noted that this can be the issue with some people. Since I didn't develop acne until well into my adult years, it's been heard to find a product that has worked. But all in all, this is the clearest my skin has been since the onset of acne.

Great for Teens and Early Acne Prone
I think this is a great kit for a teen or early acne-prone individual. It works fairly well but more importantly teaches the basics of a skin care regimen. It is easy to use and creates a method for those to start adapting good skin care habits for long term. Not so sure on the use of the toner except to remove any dirt that wasn't removed [link edited out] the first product. If a product were removed from this I would say the toner could be. This could also be a good start for an adult who was developing acne at a later age and who had not had it early on. Good basic regimen to begin with. Also white sheet and towel alert - it bleaches so use light or white sheets and towels.
