Don't do it.
I have been trying w/o success to cancel my proactiv account for 6 months, since my son had no real improvement using their system. Now they have the nerve to threaten collections. My attorney will be contacting them next.

Old Formula is Decent
I've tried the older formula, which had mixed results as it caused my face acne to worsen (from step 2 and 3). The only thing I would say is decent is the Repair Treatment (Step 3), but, when I used to use Proactive, you had to buy all three. The Repair treatment, which is benzoyl peroxide, is a ripoff since it's a tiny bottle, forcing you to keep buying Proactive many times each year. You get a much better bargain from Acne.org Benzoyl Peroxide since it's a huge bottle and gentler on your skin. The other two steps of Proactive worsened acne, so I ended up using the Repair treatment, which is simply benzoyl peroxide. Proactive is $20-30, but that lasts a few months (even their larger bottle versions), while The Regimen is $45 and lasts 6 months (depending on how often you use it). If I were to compare the main ingredients (benzoyl peroxide), then The Regimen would beat Proactive, again. It's also extremely difficult to cancel your every 3 month renewal of Proactive (ships to you every 3 months, since it runs out at that point). They'll keep charging you and sending it, even when you cancel it. Untrustworthy company and a scam that uses celebrities to sell their product.

I meant step 1 and 2, not 2 and 3 (in first sentence).

I wish I could give this negative stars
As soon as you order from proactive once, they will suddenly start charging you for more items that you never ordered or received. I purchased one package in the month of November and did not like it so I didn't go back online to order more. Suddenly in june they tried charging my card again. I got so mad and after being on the phone with them multiple times I cancelled my card to make sure they wouldn't charge me for things I never asked for or even received. Problem solved right? WRONG I received an email two months later saying there is a $65 charge on my account that they will be sending a bill for. Keep in mind the only products I ever received was the initial package. Multiple phone calls later the charge was dropped and needless to say I will NEVER buy from them again and have already warned my friends and family abouy it.

WORST DECISION EVER!!!!!
I have bad acne that covers my whole cheeks. Its discolored and there are many red bumps and white heads on my cheeks. Over summer my mom bought me Proactiv and i decided to give it a shot. WORST DECISION EVER!!! this gave me such bad break out for long periods of time it even gave my big pimples on my forehead I dont really get pimple on my forehead my forhead is actually pretty clear. This stuff dried the crap out of my skin and flaked it. My face was so red and some reason my face turned brown my face got really brown i dont know why. I also hate the steps its to long for me to many steps. When i stop using Proactiv everything got better but i still have terrible acne and my face is ever more discolored and scarred from Proactiv wished i never used it. DONT EVEN THINK ABOUT USING THIS THERES BETTER PRODUCTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Pros:

Did get rid of acne

Cons:

-expensive
-VERY time consuming (it took me about 15 min)
-disliked smell
-caused extreme irritation, redness, and dryness

Here is my proactiv story: I had suffered from b=very sever acne for about 2 years, and finally decided that investing in an expensive product would be worth it. So I got proactive. I knew the bottle would be small, but not THAT small. Anyway, I started using in it, and like most products it took about 2 weeks for me to see results. My acne was clearing, but not at what I consider a heftier price. The product stung my skin horribly because it had dried it out so much! My skin was red and flaky and I though maybe it would go away, but it didn't. One day it got so horrid i stayed home from school, and decided I wouldn't use the product that night. I woke up the next morning with my face in disarray. Not only was it fry and flak, but it was also covered in pimples. I did my research and found out that proactiv doesnt deep clean, it just creates a barrier on your face, and when the barrier is broken (as in, not reenforced by the product daily) the acne is unleashed. I threw the product away that morning. It was total crap. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I now use Herbaria products (all natural, and vegan) along with a Apple Cider Vinegar-water toner. And my skin is perfect. (It also cost a great deal less.) And I recommend that to everyone.

Pros:

Nothing

Cons:

It just doesnt work
It made my skin look unhealthy, not just because of my acne but because it made it pale and dried it out even when i was using the moisturiser.
The 60 day guarantee is a lie

Ive had acne for 6 years now and used to be on medication for it which worked well but it made me really sick so i'm not too keen on using a oral treatment so i thought i'd try a topical one. Proactiv is advertised everywhere so i thought i'd give it a go. The 60 day money back guarentee seemed fair enough too. I bought mine from the actual proactiv store in our local shopping centre and i had the cleanser, toner and moisturiser, and also the advanced treatment for three times a week. I used it for the recommended 2 months, the lady told me it would take 2 skin cycles (2 months) to start working. I gave it a fair go and it didnt work at all, it only gave me alot more internal pimples. I went to take it back and was told because it was out of its 60 day guarantee i had no chance of getting my money back. I was told it would take 2 months to work, which in itself is more then 60 days. She was quite rude and only wanted my money. I wouldnt recommend it to anyone.

Pros:

-The green tea moisturizer felt nice on the skin.
-That's pretty much it.

Cons:

-Doesn't WORK
-Dries out skin
-Damages natural oil glands
-Causes more break outs
-Scams you
-They keep charging you even when you try to cancel it, then they BILL you.
-Horrid smell
-Simply not worth it
-And SO much more

Proactive is a complete scam. DO NOT waist you're time. You'd be better off splashing acid in your face. I never had sensitive skin until Proactive damaged my face. Yes, damaged my skin to the point that I still don't know if it will ever get better. It could be PERMANENT. I used it for about 4-5 months straight. Exactly as it said, and my face was SO dry I HAD to put their products on my face to give it some relief. I was in pain and if I didn't use it for one day my face broke out like never before. So, I kept using it because I was scared of what would happen if I didn't. Until one day I received the free green tea moisturizer in my kit. That's the best thing they've EVER done for me because it helped me quit using their product. It kept my face from drying out and hurting when I wasn't using their product! On their commercials they have people saying, "My acne was like a wall that kept me from living my dreams." BS. Their product had me more trapped than a few pimples. I now use Dial moisturizer on my face and I was my face every morning and night with a moisturizing soap. My face still has some scares from proactive, but my acne is clearing up from the break outs proactive caused. (The only time it would ever be worth the try is if you have chronic acne and have tried EVERYTHING else.)

Pros:

None

Cons:

Everything about it!

If you have bad acne you should just see a professional doctor. Professional doctors will tell you that it is NOT good for school, why wouldn't you listen to someone that went to school for exactly what we are trying to get rid of? The price is not worth it. 40 bucks may seem affordable but its probably only for a months worth of product! MY skin actually got worse in the few months I used it. The first month was REALLY bad and people actually asked me what happened and THEY noticed my skin got worse. It got way more sensitive as well. I dont recommend this product to anyone. Go see a doctor and get rid of your acne and than you can focus on the more important stuff, like anti aging. :)

Pros:

NONE !!!

Cons:

redness
totally dry skin
break out

i totally don't like these products, make my skin dry and totally red and it is so hard even just for smile because my face soo dry after using their BP, and the green tea moisturizer did not work well, it just moisture my face for 5 minutes before it starts to get dry again, and the worst thing, i just had very light acne, just 2 or 3, and using pro active for about 2 months, my acne became worst, especially on my chin, i have about 9 red pimples just on my chin which is never happened before !!! and they said dont stop using it even though it become worst because for some people it needs 8 weeks to see the result, this was my big mistake to did that !!! my husband was soo worried about my face, and spend about $150 just for proactive, the first try just $ 20, and it last for a month, and the second one, my husband ordered the wrong regimen and called them to place the new order and canceled the first regimen, and guess what, they sent both of them which is cost almost $130 !!!
