Pros:

Effective only for a short period of time. Seems to be gentle for the most part. Great as a preventative. Great for those who really need help with their skin.

Cons:

Makes skin worse after stopping usage. Can make skin red. Skin can become dependant on the benzoyl peroxide as it works to kill the bacteria.

Please, please only try if you don't have sensetive skin and are truly desperate. I made the mistake of trying it out of insecurity and vanity pimples. My skin loved it at first and I was clearer than I had ever been. After long term usage it stopped working as well. When I tried to use more gentle products, my skin errupted and it has taken me years to get it back to the basics. Proactive isn't a bad line, but benzoyl peroxide can be addictive for your skin. It is truly a great product though if you really suffer from acne. Just think about it and remember the best way is gentle! I have been struggling with acne for about 7 years and have realized this finaly.

Pros:

Kept me from getting bad breakouts.

Cons:

Still allowed some breakouts, especially around that TOM. Bleached all of my colored towels. Would run out of the soap and toner when there was still half a bottle of lotion left.

Proactiv really didn't improve the quality of my skin; rather it just kept me from getting too many pimples. I always had at least one visible one, however. I got tired of spending $40+ dollars per month and decided to switch to something else since Proactive never allowed my skin to clear completely. If switching to something else, I would recommend using a similar three step process that you can find in most stores. I am using Biore Pore Un-clogging Scrub, Biore Triple Action Astringent, and Biore Skin Balancing Moisturizer. I have broken out a little since switching, but am already much happier with the results. The overall tone of my skin is much better! I would recommend the Biore line if looking for something else. Proactiv probably works well for most people, but it just didn't make a difference for me. I would still recommend it to people with severe acne, or those who just can't get anything else to work, however!

Pros:

easy 3 step system

Cons:

doesn't help with scars, really dries skin, overpriced, is NOT consistent

I was using differin before Proactiv, so I decided to give it a try since it is WAY cheaper. I had good skin, but I wanted something that would keep my skin clear. At first, it simply dried my skin. A few weeks later, I noticed my skin looking better. I rarely had any breakouts in the first year, but then it just stopped working- I began getting blemishes and whiteheads. My biggest complaint is that when you do break out the product does nothing to help the scars. I am now using Clean and Clear products...SO MUCH BETTER! I have only used it for 2 weeks...and I can honestly say it's better than Proactiv and Differin ($160 a tube)!

Pros:

Really does clear up acne.

Cons:

Can take some time to see results. Causes drying and irritation on some people.

My husband used to have VERY bad acne and tried both oral and topical treatments prescribed by a dermatologist. None of them worked. Proactiv almost completely cleared up his acne within 4-6 weeks. Not only that, his skin was smooth and soft - I was so jealous! As for me, proactiv has cleared up my acne also, but since I have a sensitive/dry skin type it's caused even more dryness, and after 3 years of using it it appears I have become hyper-sensitive to it. Every time I put it on my skin now I get itchy red patches on my jawline. Basically if you have sensitive skin like me you may have problems with this product (and with any acne product for that matter) but either way Proactiv WILL clear up your acne!

Pros:

Left my skin feeling very soft and clean. Cleared up my existing acne in under 3 weeks and controls any breakouts I get these days nicely, even in a very humid (Qld) climate.

Cons:

The chemical smell takes a little getting used to, though it fades fast. Can be a little harsh for the first couple of days.

This product is definitely not for everyone. Purchase it in one of the kiosks, so you have the option of returning it. If you want this stuff to work, you have to use it consistently. Some people say only once a day is fine for them, but I've been using it religiously twice a day and it's done a great job. It does cause some tenderness, dryness and redness in your skin for the first little while--if this continues past a week, return it. Make sure you keep track of how long you've had it so you can return it if it doesn't work. I had very severe acne, my skin is not at all sensitive, and I get a lot of exercise and a balanced diet, so unless you fit all those criteria then you will not get the same experience. I do reccomend it, because if it works for you, it is an absolute godsend. If it doesn't, send it back and get your refund.

Pros:

Deppite a sharp learnig/adjustement curve it does work

Cons:

Too harsh on skin and shipments take 2 weeks to arrive

Well first I had to adjust the shipping times so that i would get my shipments evenly, they take 2 weeks to arrive so if you want it on december 14 you have to ask for it to be shipped out december 1st they dont tell you this and by the time you get it, its december 30th. Second, the toner (2nd Step) is useless, dont bother. Replace the face wash (step 1) with an over the counter acne wash because theirs is too rough on the skin. and thirdly they say you need a dime size amount of the lotion (step 3) you actually need a whole lot more to work effectivaly especially if youre uisng it twice a day like they suggest. The whole proactiv process is just a pain in the ass. But with a whole lotta work it does clear up your skin, as long as you do it twice a day and dont get lazy, but id try otc stuff first

Pros:

i didn't use it but my brother did a few months ago. after that his skin cleared up soooo fast!! i'm jealous of it and i'm 12 years old and he's 17. his girlfriend used it--same reaction except every once in a while she has 1 or 2 on her cheeks.

Cons:

umm i don't have any

it works. he hasn't used it for months because he only used it until he ran out (he didn't have a great job to buy another) but even still his skin went from HORRIBLE to AH-MAZING. but i don't know--these other people's stories kinda turned it against me.
