Pros:

the scrub is nice, and the bp lotion by itself (now using it with differin) seems to help

Cons:

it didn't actually work?? i used it twice, i figured the first time i must have used it wrong or something but turns out it just didn't work for me. i had to buy another lotion on top of paying for the whole system because the bp dried me out so much

wouldn't recommend it. go to your dermatologist and see what s/he says. they know better than some top-dollar infomercial with paid celebrities to endorse it (lindsay lohan? what a joke!)

Pros:

Absolutely none.

Cons:

Too expensive and makes your skin worse. Smelled horrible. Dried skin out instead of "refreshing" it. Enhanced redness.

This product just flat out sucked. I used it as directed religiously and it only made my skin more dry. Then I used it every other day, and my skin seemed to clear up a little, and then it would just break out again.. DO NOT USE THIS PRODUCT IF IT WAS THE LAST ONE ON EARTH!

Pros:

clears up existing acne

Cons:

doesn't work if you don't consistently use it

i like Proactiv, and faithfully use it, but if you skip one or 2 washings it really shows

Pros:

Cleared up skin after first few months, no smell

Cons:

after a clear face pimples started coming back and it wasn't making them going away. Price is expensive and they ship it to you to fast (even if you change the schedule it still comes to soon)...$55 every other month.

I started using Proactive about a year ago when I first started getting a few pimples. It did make my face completely clear of acne for about 3 months and then acne started appearing again and then I quit. I never miseed an application either. I started back up again for about 2 weeks now using left-overs and it really hasn't improved at all. Now I quit and am going to start Differin and Doxy. I wouldn't recommend proactive to anyone! Its expensive and doesnt work.

Pros:

it never dried my skin out

Cons:

It didn't work at all!

Its a great skin care product if you already have nice skin, I mean it exfoliates and tones and does everything except clear your pimples up. I used this product for almost a year before I had to admit to myself that my face still looked as bad as it did when I bought proactive. If you have really bad acne, like I do, you need to go to the dermatologist and get an antibiotic (oral or topical) that will work for YOU!

Pros:

It has cleared up the skin on my back by about 50%

Cons:

Does leave some superficial scaring, it is starting to go away.

All my skin has been breaking out for about a year now. I am 28 years old, and have not had this problem since I was 17. The skin on my back was covered in white and black heads. I used Proactive on my back only, not on my face, although it is breaking out too. I didn't think my face could handel such a harsh product. It has really helped with my back.

Mixed feelings...
My GP put me on a four month waiting list to see a dermatologist when I was 14. In the meant time my aunt (who swears by this stuff) came home to Ireland for a holiday begging me to try it and seeing as I was desperate, I surrendered. I used the three step system right up until I stepped foot into the derms office so yeah I'm a believer in giving things time to work so I can come back here and give a decent review for you people:) Here goes... I used this as recommended-twice per day. Id do the three steps in the morning and by mid day I would be completely oil slick like you could fry multiple eggs AND bacon on my face and there would still be oil left over. This however was "easily" solved with many, many tissues. Bear in mind also that I have an oily t zone only and this oil slick look would cover my face. My face also looked extremely red and sun-burnt at about the one month mark (which is probably attributed to the BP) and when your granny asks at a family reunion if you sat out in the sun too long you know it looks terrible. Lol! My nightly routine would have the same effect. Id do the regimen outlined and wake up to see my face "shine bright like a diamond";D I believe that this system did work for me but only to a degree. I still got a cyst a week when using this but it did look like it made some improvement. When the time came for me to visit the derm he said "I wish I had seen your face before you started Proactiv". He also said that it looked like I was having a "good day". So I guess it did work but all in all, I didn't feel like looking red, scary and greasy 24/7 and yes the redness and oil would even poke through my makeup. If you want to try it be my guest, you will never know unless you try it. We don't all have the same skin type. It may work better for you than it did for me:) I feel like this would work best on someone with light/mild acne and I would steer clear of it if you have oily skin. My theory is that the bp was so drying it stripped the moisture from the skin thus making the skin produce more oil to counteract the dryness. And we all know oil is a contributing factor to even more acne. Having said that I would recommend this for someone with less severe acne and a different skin type to me as I said above. Thanks for reading. Remember to smile through your acne. It doesn't define you as a person. xxx

Pros:

your getting a product w/ right percentage of benzoyl. it works also as a scrub. convienent

Cons:

its costly. you need an additional moisturizer. i dont feel this is an everday product. its in addition

if you have trouble sticking to a regimen (young) and need your bath products shipped. then yes. its too costly and dosent work for everyone. common sense rules apply. in the 8 years i've used Pro-activ it was never my main product used in my face regimen

Pros:

-helps minor, small acne
-exfoliates nicely albeit twice a day is a lot
-leaves skin looking very fresh & feeling smooth
-helps control oil if you have oily skin

Cons:

-does nothing for cystic acne (for me anyways)
-I have dry skin already and this made it worse and almost unmanageable even with a very moisturizing moisturizer
-expensive
-must use religiously
-irritates my skin, albeit my skin is sensitive and very pale
-my mom ordered it for me and said the customer service was awful, and I've never heard her complain about any service before
-too much exfoliation in my opinion

If you have mild acne this product would be excellent with a proper moisturizer, but if you're looking for something that will help with cystic I would not recommend this. I was always told and read that you should not exfoliate more than a couple times a week, and this has you exfoliating twice a day - very rough on your skin. If your skin is very sensitive and/or dry I would also not recommend this product as it will more likely do more harm than good! Best of luck. xx
