I used proactiv for about a year, and it worked wonderfully!! My skin was soft, and there wasn't a single pimple. However, just a few months ago I started haveing a allergic reaction. My eyes got swollen and puffy, and I got red itchy blotches on my face. Turns out I developed a reaction to the benzoyl peroxide, which unfortunatly is the main ingrediant that makes the stuff so good.

Works but with hassle
Proactiv actually does work for me unlike anyone else I've ever spoke to about it. But the "people" that work for Proactiv are money hungry robots. I've been a customer for 12 years & their website has been down for about a year now. The site says to call them to manage your account which is a huge pain for me. I would get over it if the people on the other end of the phone would listen to me. I ask them to change my shipping date a month later because I had plenty of it stocked up & didn't have the funds to pay for it right now when I didn't need it. They simply ignore that request each time I ask but of course approve the request of adding another product to my package. I called them over a month before my shipment was to come, this wasn't a last minute request. Instead of acknowledging that I want to change my shipping frequency over the phone (that can be done so easily online), their trained response is, "what else can I do for you today?" My strong advice is to purchase from a kiosk/vending machine as I've done before & do NOT give them your payment information for automatic shipping. You will end up with a $60+ bill every month automatically deducted from your bank account/credit card.

Proactive

Pros:

The product works
Affordable

Cons:

They do automatically send you more product
It can dry out your skin

I contemplated writing a review for this product for awhile, but seeing how many negative reviews it receives I thought I would defend it a little bit since I have had an overall very positive experience using it. I have never had what would be considered bad acne. I have always been mild, at most, with a few pimples sprouting up occasionally and usually being gone within a few days. I can honestly say that I barely ever washed my face, unless I was taking a shower, and I didn't seem to have many issues with my skin. That was, until I was recommended a top brand foundation from a friend. I had always used drugstore foundation, and thought since I was out of college and into buying higher quality products that I would try out some nicer make up as well. I will not name the brand I used because 1) I am still skeptical that my new acne problem was solely caused by it and 2) I happen to know for fact I have many friends who use it and had none of the problems I had. However, I noticed when I started using this product, that was much thicker than the foundation I was used to, I started having some acne appear on my cheek. At first, it was just a couple of pimples, but that eventually turned into a cluster of some MAJOR pimples that were so deeply rooted into my skin that no matter what I did I could NOT get rid of them. I went into the store where I purchased the product to swap to a new foundation again, thinking this thicker one was just clogging my pores, but I was informed by another employee that I was actually allergic to the product I was using and switching would make it clear up very quickly. After a few weeks of using the new foundation I did not notice any improvement in my acne, and I started to notice some little other ones appearing on my shoulders and face. THIS is the moment that I decided to give Proactive a try. My roommate in college used it and swore by it, and I had seen all the testimonials and celebrity endorsements on tv, but I was still really skeptical that a product that you can order without seeing a dermatologist would really make a big difference. Now that you have my back story, here is my review: 1) Yes, the company does somehow sign you up for automatic shipments. I ordered my first round and was CERTAIN I did not sign up for any reoccurring charge, yet after my first month of using it I came home to a big package of 3 months worth of the stuff. I was confused, and checked my account to make sure I hadn't signed up for this, and sure enough they just do it. I find this annoying, too, and if it weren't for the fact that I had noticed SOME change and that they spread the charges for the three month package out of the three months you are supposed to use it, I would have been irate. 2) The product works well, WHEN you use how it it is instructed to be used. You cannot go willy nilly with this product. I do not believe in all of the little side products it sends, they all seem pretty much the same to be and a bit overboard when you're already using three different things on your face twice a day, but I will say I believe in the 3 step product. The first month I started using Proactive I saw some minimal results because I really wasn't following the system (I'd use step one when I showered, sometimes step two just before bed, and hardly ever step three). The next month I decided I would start being stricter about using it how it was intended, and if it didn't seem to work then I would cancel my order altogether. Here is where I rate this product positively- my cheek acne, that has been sitting there untamable for 2 months, has FINALLY almost fully gone away. HOORAY!!! 3) I guess final note would be this- if you want a product that will work and are dedicated to the process of it, I would recommend Proactive. It DOES work, but you HAVE to use it in the morning, and at night, all 3 steps. I truly believe a lot of the people who write reviews on this product are in the stage I was at month one- not really using it correctly or strictly, and only giving it a short period of time to work. Yes, they will automatically send you a 3 month package of new product. Yes, the product CAN dry out your skin (I would advise to stay away from your eyes with it, since it can kinda irritate those areas when used regularly). But yes, in my opinion, the product does its job.

Pros:

Clearer skin, prevents breakouts & oily skin, makes skin feel a lot better, smells really nice.

Cons:

Makes skin feel dry (sometimes) causes redness & sometimes stings a little.

I paid £40 not $. As soon as I used this product I saw improvement straight away. I had mild acne, not too bad and the first time I used it I saw a difference within the first hour. My skin looked so much more cleaner and healthier, pretty much all my blackheads were gone after the first wash. It does make your skin a little red and stings a bit, but that just shows that it has been cleaned properly. Some people have different kinds of skin so it won't work on everyone, just like every other product, that's just a risk you have to take. But I really would recommend it to anyone who has mild acne. I wouldn't recommend it to someone with really bad skin cause the exfoliating beads in the cleanser might make the acne even worse and irritate it, I'd see a doctor. But it really is an amazing product and made my skin so much clearer, I love it! Really helps :)

Pros:

the man made beads in the cleanser where super good! they gently exfoliated my skin leaving it feeling refreshed and clean. I saw results witin the first couple of weeks and with continuous use it is clearing up scarring as well as preventing any major breakouts.

Cons:

in the first week of use my skin began to show signs of dryness, but Proactiv do recommend using a moisteriser after step 3, which does help prevent this.
another con to this product is the frequency in how late the shipments could be, in some cases my shipment would come 1-2 weeks after it was due which was a little inconvienient.

after trying to use different cleansers, lotions, toners, face masks etc. none have been as half as effective as proactiv have been! I wouldn't suggest people with severe acne affected skin to use this product as the exfoliator beads may irritate any blemishes. but for my skin which was prone to blackeads and whiteheads, as well as the common breakouts and scarring due to picking and scratching, this 3 step system works wonders. Keep in consideration that clear skin doesnt automatically come with a new skin regimen, eating healthier and drinking healthie does also play a massive part in creating a beautiful complexion. I don't see why you dont give it a go, and with their money back guarentee you really can't go wrong.

Pros:

Is effective on mild-moderate acne if u use it regularly.
Order cums on time.
The user manual has all the info u need in a very simple language.

Cons:

U can experience slight burning sensation and redness (due to BP) bt it goes after sum time.

Proactiv Solution is grt acne care system, provided u use it regularly and stick to the instructions. If it dries out ur face then try Proactiv's Green Tea moisturizer. It is light and makes u fall in love with ur skin. Proactiv Solution is worth a try for sumone with acne issues.

Pros:

Worked VERY well for 2 years- 14-16 yrs old.
Never dried skin

Cons:

stopped using it, had BEAUTIFUL SKIN, tried using it again after about5 months.... made it worse :(

i used this for a couple of years on and off when i was younger... back when having ONE pimple was unbearable. worked absolutely great. loved it. my mum hated it as it bleached every single towel in the house :D stopped using it in about feb of this year. had the most beautiful sin ever without even doing anything to it. i thought i had grown out of my zits. amazingle clear skin for about 5 months. (started using BC pills in november last year) went off them and BOOM. acne disaster. august came and i went to see a doc, prescribed epiduo. i thought it made my face the worst its ever been. started using proactiv again for 3 weeks- now that was the WORST my face has EVER been. (check my pics in the gallery!) unfortunately it made things worse this time around but i am so glad it kept me clear for years beforehand. unfortunately im on anti-biotics now :( possibly accutane if it returns. gave it to my sister who has always had a worse face than me even though she is younger! cleared her up nicely. well worth a shot in my opinion Acne was basically always non-existant, now it is unfortunately recovering from a moderately severe breakout nd dealing with LOTS of ugly ugly hyperpigmentation :'(

Pros:

- Cleared up my acne.

Cons:

- Results are seen after the 2nd week of use.
- Tedious to do the 3 steps 2 times a day.

My acne is not bad. I would just get a few pimples during my menstrual period, and randomly some very little pimples scattered in my face, but the mark will stay after the pimple's gone. I've been to almost every dermatologist around my country, been into very expensive laser treatments, and no results. However, when I tried Proactive, it did clear up my skin. I've only used it for a couple of weeks, but I haven't had any new pimples since then. I see the marks being cleared, too. I feel that, if I continue using it, in a couple of weeks I might be able to walk around comfortably without any makeup and no ugly marks of the gone pimples.

Pros:

* it did help clear my acne
* my pimples weren't as severe
*my breakouts (look at cons) weren't as severe

Cons:

* after i ran out, my face started to break out

It really just depends on what kind of skin you have. It worked for me, but did no help to my sister.
