Just don't do it!
DON'T DO IT. First off, I do not believe this "solution" is the quality it was 10 years ago. Proactive use to work wonders for me, as of today I've been using it for over 3 months and see absolutely no change in my skin. Secondly, no where did I read that after the initial $19.99 purchase that the next order will be $100... 3 payments of $35 come out of your account automatically over the course of 3 months. So, all in all, Proactive has cost me closer to $300 after overdraft fees that my bank charges because Proactive will be "pending" in your account for a week, and then the actual amount will be charged the following week. Not impressed at all. Don't waste your money. There are many free, natural ways to cure acne... lemon juice, baking soda... Proactive is NOT one of them!

Pros:

None

Cons:

Made acne worst
product irritates skin
makes skin really dry

I have very little acne and thought Proactiv would help make it totally go away but using it for 2 days, my face completely broke out. To make it worst, it made my skin so dry. I called customer service to cancel the automatic shipments and when I told the person on the other line what I was experiencing she told me that breaking out more with Proactiv is completely normal. Now they tell me. I wouldn't recommend this product to anyone.

Pros:

* Worked for the first week
* Left skin feeling fresh
* Overnight mask was alright

Cons:

* Loses effectiveness over time
* Can dry out/irritate skin
* Not worth the price

In my experience, Proactive was an ok product at best. It did leave my skin feeling cleaner, but overtime I lost that feeling. Proactive improved my skin for about a week, then stopped working. My acne is pretty stubborn and resistant, and Proactive just couldn't deliver. If you have oily acne-prone skin, I would not recommend this product. Chances are, it will do little more than leave your face feeling fresh, and it doesn't even do that well. It might work for others with less severe acne, but I don't think it's worth the amount of money it costs.

Pros:

none

Cons:

- Complicated process (12 year old needed help following all the steps and timing each)
- Results minimal
- Company fraudulent
- Hours of time and much frustration trying to get $ back for items I did not order or want

I ordered this online as a gift for my 12 year old daughter. I didn't realize that I had joined a membership or agreed to future purchase commitments (not used to looking out for this when buying items!). Two weeks after giving her the Proactiv, my account was charged another $40. I called and canceled the membership and was told to send the item back when I received it. Three weeks later, the shipment I had already been charged for came, but by then my account had been charged AGAIN! I was told it would take 4-6 weeks to process each return and would still pay $20 for shipping and handling! RIP OFF! If you buy this, do it over the phone, and make sure you don't agree to future purchases if you don't want them!!

Pros:

makes skin soft and feels clean and hydrated

Cons:

broke me out worse than before

I have tried this product three times on and off in my life hoping to see different results. The third time I got it because I didn't stick with it long enough the other two times. The third time I stuck with it for 8 weeks and it just kept getting worse and worse!! I called the hotline and asked what the deal was and they said I as prolly allergic to the benzol peroxide and they'd send me their washes with salicydic acid instead. By that time I had already dumped enough money into their product (I bought everything right down to their oil absorbing sheets hoping it would work if I used their products exclusively). I was very disappointed so I ended up goingto the dermatologist and am getting results now w/oral antibiotic and facial creams. It may work for some cause I have heard of ppl who say it really worked for them..I think it depends on your type of skin and your type of acne. If you dare to try it you have to stick with it though to truly figure out if it works for you. I personally wouldn't recommend this product, I would say if it's that bad just got to your derm.

Pros:

Worked at first.... sort of.

Cons:

Exacerbated my acne, dried my otherwise oily face out to the point where it was peeling, did not help at all!!!!!!

OVERRATED. When i used it at first, I saw some results. However, I have been doing the regimen for around 3 weeks now and my acne is actually worse than it was before i was using the product. I currently have a pimple on my chin that is huge, painful, and will not go away. My other breakouts have not cleared. It dried my face out completely too. Really terrible. I'm on the site now trying to find something that will take care of the damage that Proactiv has done to my face! HORRIBLE HORRIBLE PRODUCT!

Pros:

Evened out my skin complexion.

Cons:

No real in my existing acne condition. In fact like many others who've commented. I too had an outbreak of large cystic pimples on my forhead. An uncommon spot for my acne to occur.

This is my 2nd attempt at Proactive in the last 10 years. It's seems to have done a nice job evening out my skin tone and clearing away black heads and scarring, however, I've been getting these massively sized cystic pimples that last for days and have little to no responce to the treatment. My husband gave me his Neutrogena's On the Spot and that kills them in a couple of days. Much more effective then spotting them w/ the sulfer mask. I'm thinking about stopping the treatment. I need to go back to the basics. I've tried everything. Pills, washes, masks, spot treatments...My skin has a mind of it's own. This year has been particularly bad. The only treatment in the last couple of years that genuinely helped was Retin A. Although that was a rough start and it did not completely clear my skin it was the most reliable. I washed w/ Cetaphil and lightly coated problem areas. I think that cover up is my biggest problem right now. My skin can't live with it but my scars can't live without it.
