Has there been a scientific explaination to why scarring looks way better in the morning when you had some sleep, wake up and as the day goes along it starts to look worse and worse? Is it because the skin some how accumulates inflammation and your scars get more atrophic and red? Can this effect be reproduced besides sleeping 8 hours.

Why would we need a study to prove what gravity does (think pillow vs. standing up). As the day goes on the gravity forces change with the skin being pulled towards the ground, you get tired, dehydrated, the sun, oxidation stress from things around us, and your blood temperature changes from sleep to being awake. When you sleep also your body refreshes the nutrients in the skin through the blood supply. Why do scars change from working out at the gym to sleeping, ... again blood supply and stresses, muscle action, inflammation.

There are other sources on Google.
