Hi everyone

I would like some opinions on how to treat my acne scars. I just finished accutane 2 months ago and I'm currently using epiduo as a maintenance as prescribed by my derm. I'll soon be incorporating a vic c serum soon to treat some the hyper-pigmentation i have.

As you can see I have quite a bit of atrophic scars on both my cheeks. I've been reading the FAQ and got some good info on how to treat them afterwards - I am thinking of microneedling and probably subcision. I know I need to wait 6 months after accutane to treat them but in the meantime, is there anything I can do to speed up the process? I would also appreciate any opinion on how to treat them afterwards when I can begin scar treatment.

Thank you

I'd suggest to keep itmoisturized and indeed out of the sun. Consume healthy vitamin A and C rich foods, and be sure to keep the pores unblocked. Use a limited amound of make-up. I wish you all the best.

Technically, things like subcision and microneedling can actually be done on accutane (new studies have proven that these are okay because they're not resurfacing techniques like peels and laser) but you could wait the 6 months if you wanted. Sunscreen, moisturizer, and a healthy diet with lots of vitamins will help you prep your skin for later treatments :) maybe add in a Glycolic acid toner very slowly?

If you decided to do home needling. Do it step by step. Try small length needles and dont be very aggressive. Just test your body response.
This is very important. Never start agressive treatment from the beginning.

Dr Rapaport or Novick - subcision- filler....best outcomes. Great reputation as ethical specialists. You have atrophic and tethered scars- predominant scar type. Wish you well.

Thank you for all your replies! I am going to be having a consultation with a doc soon to see if I can do subcision + HA fillers.

No you don't need to wait 6 months. Research indicates that it's safe to combine acne scar revision treatments with Accutane.
